The most Egg-cellent Easter Eggs

When you've used up all of your mini Creme eggs in your cakes, you'll be needing some more chocolates goodies for Easter egg hunts. Here are the prettiest eggs around this year. I'll probably be buying them all after the Easter holiday when they're half price.

Hotel Chocolat's Facet egg is rather gorge, isn't it? Disappointingly empty it might be, but the facets mean extra thick chocolate and it looks fab. It's £20 but if you spend £35 on chocolates, you get free chocolate! Free chocolate is the tastiest. Keep an eye on HC after the Easter weekend, their seasonal sales are the best.

I don't think I've ever seen a fizzy Easter egg before. But I really like cherryade (and popping candy for that matter), it reminds me of school discos. You can also buy orange and lemonade flavours, and apparently a cola version is coming soon. They're £12.99 each from Firebox and sadly empty inside.

It turns out that Humpty Dumpty actually had a 'tache. And he's not hollow inside. His shell is full of tastiness and ganache filling. Brilliant. It's not quite sweeties tumbling out of him as you push him off the table (what?), but it's better than empty. Humpty Dumpty Easter eggs are £29.95 from Fairy Tale Gourmet.

No, I don't know how Prestat fill their real eggshells with hazelnut truffle, but they're handpainted and they've promised they've all been sterilised. They're only £3.95, so they're one of the cheapest treats in the Prestat shop.

Finally, an Easter egg with actual treats inside! Booja Booja's handpainted eggs are super pretty and the treats inside their eggs are dairy and gluten free. There are four designs stocked at Selfridges and they're £12.99 each. They've got the same treats inside but the design you get will be chosen at random.

Selfridges also stock Vioko who are responsible for some of the most sophisticated chocolate eggs I ever did see. I don't want think I want sophisticated chocolate at Easter but if you do, this dark chocolate gold-dusted egg is £19.99.

Rococco always have the prettiest handpainted eggs. This gorgeous Japanese bird is guarding six ganaches and 4 mixed chocolates. He's £32.50 and the handsomest of all the eggs.
