Rob Ryan Buttons Tile - Creepy or Pretty?
I keep find myself drawn back to this Rob Ryan tile. I spotted it in Ryantown a little while ago and well, it's creepy. Really creepy. But I also really like it. Sure, the idea of someone stealing buttons is really shudder-making creepy. But somehow, when it's made all cute with little button drawings and pale blue, it doesn't seem so bad. Creepy! No, pretty! Creepy! Pretty!
You're going to have to decide for me. If you think it's pretty rather than creepy, you can buy it from Rob's Etsy shop for $40.

Just imagine a crazy man stealing buttons from your pyjamas as you're sleeping...
ReplyDeleteTHAT'S CREEPY.
OK, so it's a little bit creepy. But... I think I still like it.
ReplyDeleteI love Rob Ryan but this is just creepy creepy creepy!
ReplyDeleteI love it :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm going with creepy - I much prefer some of his others!
ReplyDeleteCreepy, but I do still like it. The fact that someone would go to the trouble of unpicking and re-sewing two sets of buttons shows definite commitment to a cause!
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm going to retract my creepy statement, and say that I think its quite romantic. I'm coming from the angle that you already know the person is with you overnight, rather than being a random stalker who crept up the trellis and in your window.
ReplyDeleteWould it be less creepy if you were living far away from your other half? That sounds more romantic then.
ReplyDeleteCreepy romance. My favourite.
They look a bit like prints from pigs' noses. That's creepy.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really cute and pretty, not a smidgen of creepy! But then for some reason I feel it's something my Ragdoll Gypsy Rose Lee would say to her boyfriend Raggedy Andy. Although did the introduction of ragdolls just make this all seem extra creepy?!
ReplyDeleteWhat does it say on the inside after 'at least...'? (I vote not creepy but very kooki!) :)
ReplyDeleteI like to think the other side says "...I didn't sew them into your eyes." (read / watch Coraline)
ReplyDeleteWell now you've just gone an ruined it. That's horrible!

ReplyDeleteUS site, so can be a bit folksy, but there's some great ideas on there :-)
I love it!! I don't think it's at all creepy, just very sweet - as long as the buttons actually went with the shirt...
