All I Want For Christmas: Frances

I'd like to think that the key to a good gift is providing some everyday luxury. Take something they use each day, then spend more on it than they'd ever justify doing for themselves. Easy. Based on this theory, I've gone for three very everyday items, each of which has been given a glamorous twist by a different designer. The designers featured are all known for their love of colour and sense of fun: essential ingredients for any festive season.

Under £100

One of the best things about Christmas is the opportunity to wear some jazzy knitwear. In my dream world I'd be able to pop Sonia by Sonia Rykiel sweater under the tree for a loved one, but in the real world I'd consider her striped gloves a particular treat. These merino wool beauties would see someone warm and happy through to the first daffodil of Spring. They're available for £67 from ASOS and, if you wanted to stretch the budget a little further, you can get the matching scarf for £106.

Under £50

I adore Orla Kiely and her style is more accessible than ever, thanks to her new range of homewares. With its great retro print, this ceramic Poppy Meadow teapot is the perfect gift for a good friend with whom you plan to spend lots of time enjoying long chats over cups of tea in the coming year. It's bang on the money too at exactly £50.

Under £10

Rather than trying to do your make-up in the grubby mirror that comes in the lid of your eyeshadow palette, surely the ultimate touch of everyday luxury is whipping out Celia Birtwell's Mademoiselle compact? With its pretty Parisian print, this glamorous object would look just as good on a dressing table as in a bag and has a look that belies its price tag of £9.95. The perfect gift for your favourite mademoiselle.

  1. Oh am in love with that teapot, and that compact is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! It's going on my Christmas list. (Which is already double sided. Oops).
