Win! Two Cognac Glasses from Bodie & Fou
On the 7th day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me a pair of Cognac glasses from Bodie & Fou!
I don't drink Cognac very often, but I've recently started getting into it and I need some nice glasses to sip from whilst I'm snuggling under a blanket. It's too cold for going out. Might even pop on a Christmassy film and share, if you ask nicely.
Of course, I'm not allowed to enter our competitions. So I can't win these amazing Cognac glasses from Bodie & Fou (that would be big fat cheating) but you can! You'll get a pair, and they're actually perfect for the favourite boy in your life as well. We can't have only girly presents this year, apparently we have to share with boys.
What do you have to do to win? Leave us a comment below telling us what your favourite Christmas song is! Are you Dreaming of a White Christmas? Rocking around the Christmas tree? All about Frosty the Snowman? Tell us in the comments before 8pm tonight and we'll pick a winner at random tomorrow!
Good luck everyone!
The small print (yawn): The competition will close at 8pm December 9th. You must be UK based. Prize is for two Cognac glasses and delivery is arranged by Bodie & Fou. You must also leave a name as well to make sure we know who you are! If you're anon, your entry won't count and if you enter more than once, we'll discount all of your entries (yes, we do check). We're not allowed to enter our own competitions, but Siany is a big fan of Mariah's All I Want For Christmas. It's the harmonies. We wish we could enter our competitions. Humph.

A Spaceman Came Travelling! Feel the power and passion of DeBurgh. HI-larious!
ReplyDeleteA Fairytale of New York - I know it's not the most Christmassy song, but I love it! x
ReplyDeleteHello lovely ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhat perfect timing, I'm trying to help a friend find her Christmas karaoke song, but so far my suggestions of James Brown's 'Santa Claus go straight to the Ghetto' or anything from Dolly Parton and Kenny Rodgers's Christmas album have been turned down!
However, I do think that the perfect Christmas song is Santa Baby by Ertha Kitt, sexy, Christmasy, and it drops a lot of non-to subtle hints about presents from Tiffany's!
Keep warm, save some of that cognac for me!
Penelope Patrick x x x
Baby it's Cold Outside- is my all time favourite Christmas song- it's a classic, it's romantic, and these cognac glasses would be perfect for sipping some Christmas tipple while listening to Dean Martin crooning away...
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it but I'ma sucker for Mariah Carey's 'All I want for Christmas is You!'a guilt pleasure!
ReplyDeletePogues & Kirsty McColl fairytale of new york is brilliant but I also love the original Band Aid do they know it's christmas!!
ReplyDeleteFairy Tale of New York is definitely the all-time favourite. But anything from the Muppet's Christmas Carol is always a winner, too...
ReplyDelete"All I want for Christmas is you!" from the Love Actually soundtrack
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I usually sing it to each other while we're decorating the house, while our son looks at us as is we've gone mad :-D!
The Puppini Sisters version of 'Jingle Bells'.. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteElton John - Step into Christmas. I have a Christmas memory from 20 years or so ago walking around toys r us at the age of 10 singing this. I always thought it was written for my mum. I thought it said 'Merry Christmas Barbara' instead of 'Merry Christmas One and all'. I only realised the truth a couple if years ago after a particularly embarrassing incident with friends!!
ReplyDeleteI love Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, reminds me of being a wee kid on Christmas Eve!x
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is A Fairytale of New York, it's not christmas until I've heard it!
ReplyDeleteHas to be Driving Home For Christmas!! Brilliant song, love the piano. Perfect to sip Cognac to.....
ReplyDeletenot sure I really want to admit to this, but it's "I saw Mummy kissing Santa Claus" (I'll get my coat)
ReplyDelete@msmollylouise
I absolutely adore Glasvegas' version of A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss). I've been listening to it on repeat ever since it started snowing last month!
ReplyDeleteMine is Greg Lake - I believe in Father Christmas. Quite depressing, but I generally get prone to a bit of melancholy round this time of year and it sums it up nicely for me! I absolutely love the song. Also, In Dulce Jublio. Those glasses are amazing! x
ReplyDeleteFavourite used to be 'Fairytale...' but the soft wee nostalgic in me has come around to the charms of 'Little Drummer Boy' by Bing and Bowie. Especially when you know the story behind it and consider Bowie's public persona at the time. Bing always reminds me of my Grandad. Barum-pa-pom-pom.
ReplyDeleteAre boys allowed to enter too? :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite song is definitely "Let It Snow" because it reminds me of the ultimate Christmas movie, Die Hard. That's really not very girly, is it.
For a slowie I love Belleau Wood by Garth Brooks (probably a little known Christmas song!) but for dancing drunkenly at a Christmas party it has to be "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day". Is there anyone in the world who doesn't know all the words to that?! :-)
ReplyDeleteEither:
ReplyDeleteDriving home for Christmas as it's the only Balearic Christmas song
or
Like Xmas by Vybz Kartel as it's the only Christmas song you can dutty wine to
Mele Kalikimaka, sung by Bing Crosby is a secret favourite. Always makes me think that one year, I'll spend Christmas in the sun.
ReplyDeletexx
favorite is definitely frosty the snowman!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the whole Glee x-mas album at the moment and The Grinch song the most.
ReplyDelete-Kelly
With a competition like this how could I choose anything other than 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'? For me it brings back memories of primary school and the words that everyone knows..."FIIIVE GOOOOLD RIIIINGGS"!
ReplyDeleteGreat prize ladies, I've had my eye on these glasses for ages and my better half would love them (he has a penchant for glasses!)
Ruth M
Merry Christmas Everybody, it always cheers me up to hear it
ReplyDeleteI love 'Santa, Baby', preferably sung by Eartha Kitt. So wrong on so many levels, but it's great fun to sing along to as I potter round the kitchen. 'Won't you trim my Christmas tree/ With some decorations bought at ... Tiffany/ I really do believe in you/ Let's see if you believe in me.'
ReplyDeleteStay - East 17. Cheesy, naff and I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh these are lovely! My fave xmas song has to be the pogues fairytale of New York, cliche but it's a great one!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that it isn't Christmas in my world until I hear the Salvation army playing Away in a Manger!
ReplyDeleteProbably Fairytale of New York. Being an Irish girl, I do love the Pogues in all their guises. It's an amazing song to sing along to in bars. And they always turn it down at the "you scumbag, you maggot" line so you just hear everyone shouting the next line.
ReplyDeleteOn a slightly more obscure note, I also really like steampunk band Abney Park's version id Winter Wonderland =)
Clare from Belfast x
Its a marshmallow world in the winter! I absolutely adore that song and it always, always, always puts a smile on my face :-)
ReplyDeleteFairytale of New York, one of the few Christmas songs I can hear over and over again without it driving me crazy ;)
ReplyDeleteFairytale of New York, I always sing along (very badly), even when I am out in public and get weird looks in the shops
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but it's 'All I want for Christmas' by Mariah Carey. It reminds me how when you're away from loved ones at this time of year, no matter how good the pressies are, all you really want is to be surrounded by the ones you love. That's the real meaning of Christmas for me :)
ReplyDeleteLauretta from London
I've always loved the chocolate hug that is Bing Crosby singing White Christmas.... however for pure comedy value this year it has to be Wynne Evans as Gio Compario singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town - he's raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust - google the video!
ReplyDeleteHave given a lot of thought to this over the years, and am pleased to announce my top three, in this order...
ReplyDelete1. Mariah, All I Want For Christmas Is You
2. Slade, Merry Christmas Everybody
3. Shakin Stevens, Merry Christmas Everyone
Yay, pass the mince pies :)
Although I do love Mariah- All I want for Christmas, I prefer a good carol to make me feel all cosy instead; We Three Kings or Little Town of Bethlehem.
ReplyDeleteI love Silent Night--reminds us about the true meaning of christmas...we forget about this and cant wait to see my son as a shepherd in his school play next week...
ReplyDeleteOne that always heralds the Christmas Season for me is Snoopy's Christmas. I think it is quite an antipodean thing though and I've never heard it in the UK!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be Fairtytale in New York! Perfect for a good sing-a-long!x
ReplyDeleteHas to be Mariah Carey's All I want for Xmas (as much as the other half doesn't approve)!
ReplyDeleteFairy Tale of New York by The Pogues!! You have to sing along to it really loudly!!
ReplyDeleteStevie Wonder and "That's What Christmas Means To Me" - a smasher! x
ReplyDeleteI like the traditional songs (the pop songs we hear for two months solidly in the run up to Christmas make me want to blow up every available loudspeaker). So for me it's Silent Night.
ReplyDeleteOne of these days I will win a Domestic Sluttery giveaway, I am sure of it!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite song is The Spaceman one by Chris de Burgh, especially that bit where it goes 'na,na,na,na,na,na,na-naaaaa'...reminds me of being little.
Oh no, I've changed my mind already, its actually the Stop the Cavalry song by Jona Lewie. My Dad used to play it when we were little and we'd jump along all the sofas pretending to play the trumpet.
Hmmm, if I get a little tipsy sipping cognac out of those gorgeous glasses during the festive period there is no doubt I'll start belting out Slade's 'Merry Xmas Everybody' from under my slanket!
ReplyDeleteJona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry has always been me fave. :)
ReplyDeleteSo many, but last year discovered - Brand New Christmas by Hot Chocolate
ReplyDeleteAlways loved Silent Night, it reminds me of when I was little.
ReplyDeletetwelve days of christmas of course!!
ReplyDeleteAh they are LOVELY! Perfect for putting-up-the-decorations-drinks...my favourite would have to be Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, sung as I dance (badly) around the tree, trying not to crash into it and knock everything over...
ReplyDeleteI love Santa Claus is coming to Town. So many incarnations but they always seem to work, from the bopping round the tree version to the all sing together in an Elf style version, and not forgetting the Sinatra version too. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteJon Lewie - Stop the Cavalry, every time! :D
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose it's technically a christmas song, but it makes me feel Christmassy whenever I hear it :)
Sophie
Bing Crosby, White Christmas!! Sooooo good for a sing-a-long, loud as you like, usually when no one else is around to hear :)
ReplyDeleteWe Three Kings of Orient Are, One in a Taxi, One in a Car....Lovely :)
ReplyDeleteJona Lewie - Stop The Cavalry. Brass band and twinkly bells, lovely :)
ReplyDeleteGot to be David Bowie and Bing Crosby - Little Drummer Boy. The acting at the start of the video is classic!
ReplyDeleteI Believe In Father Christmas! Because i wish i was still a child and could 100% believ in him still. Plus they said they'll be snow this Christmas, They said they'll be peace on earth. Well we have had the snow, so bring on the Peace! x
ReplyDeleteI love Fairytale of New York - such a great song!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all the great classic christmas songs but the one that get's stuck in my head every year is Proper Crimbo and Here comes Santa Claus.
ReplyDeleteChris Rea - 'Driving home for Christmas', it's the ultimate stuck in traffic tune & you know everyone else in the jam is thinking the same as you... 'warm cosy home waiting, twinkling with fairy lights, nice glass of wine.... MOVE DAMN YOU!!!!'
ReplyDeleteNever Be alone at Christmas ... I'm ten again, watching Home Alone and wishing my parents would forget me so I could have as much fun and McCauly Kulkin - minus the burglars though!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be "O Holy Night" - a traditional carol, but it makes me feel Christmassy as I sing it at Church with my bestest friends and sums up for me what Christmas is all about!
ReplyDeleteThe whole of the Low Christmas album, of course!
ReplyDelete"You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch"
ReplyDeleteWritten by Dr. Seuss and Albert Hague
Performed by Jim Carrey and Busta Rhymes
Fairytale of New York - just love the mix of boozy sing-a-along lyrics and Christmas sentiment
ReplyDeleteI love all Christmas songs lol but my fave is definitely The Pogues, Fairy tale of New York...and of course 'It's Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!!'
ReplyDeleteMerry Xmas, Gemxx
Silent Night. An oldy, but a goody. There's nothing more Christmassy than standing in a cold church, surrounded by candles, and letting the sound of Silent Night wash over you. Gives me goosebumps every time!
ReplyDeleteMy all time fav is the power of love by frankie goes to Hollywood - a beautiful song and video that reminds of the Christmas spirit.
ReplyDeleteAdele hammond (@marshmalotoast on twitter)
Fairytale of New York, but if we're talking traditional carols, it has to be Silent Night.
ReplyDelete@happyfox
Oh the weather outside is frightful! But the fire is so delightful, since theres no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
ReplyDeleteCould not be more accurate right now. Its been snowing all the time in Bristol so I have spent a great deal of time under a blanket in front of the fire with a nice boy to keep me warm! Theres just one thing missing...
I love Driving Home for Christmas, when I lived away from my family it always used to give me a bit of a thrill to hear at Christmas knowing that I would be soon home with my loved ones.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas Alphabet! It makes you imagine the christmas days of yore, and makes you feel warm and happy inside. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteC is for the candy trimmed around the Christmas tree...
Could someone please arrange for somebody to help me out with M (is for the mistletoe where everyone is kissed)? :)
Caroline (@wouldilietoyou)
Cold outside - Love it!
ReplyDeleteSpice Girls - Two Become One!
ReplyDeleteOK, not Christmassy in itself. But it was Christmas number one back when I was a teen, and I have a vivid memory of watching the vid on the Christmas Day TOTP special whilst peeling carrots for Christmas dinner!
I know it's terrible, and feel free to judge me (oh you'll want to!), but I've been rather enjoying Dickie Valentine's 'Alphabet Christmas'. C is for the candy trimmed around the christmas tree, H is for the happiness with all the family...
ReplyDeleteThe Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Doesn't seem like a Christmas song, yet it always appears on Christmas albums..and it did have a Nativity-themed video!
ReplyDeleteFairytale of New York :)
ReplyDeleteI'm dreaming of a White Christmas, may be cheesy but its perfect for Christmas and you hear it soooooooooo much in the shops when buying your pressys, puts you in the mood
ReplyDeleteMine's got to be "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses - not too cheesy, but still christmassy
ReplyDeleteRockin Robin, Jackson 5. NEVER fails to get me in the festive mood!
ReplyDeleteI believe in Father Christmas
ReplyDeleteChristmas Blues - any of the versions of the Rat Pack. Nostalgic, beautiful and just a little bit blue.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be White Christmas by Bing Crosby.
ReplyDeleteIt puts me in a warm, cosy, snuggled up by the fire roasting hazelnuts, christmassy mood in an instant. X
I have to agree with Siany. All I Want for Christmas will be on repeat throughout the festive period! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt has to be Silent Night
ReplyDeleteWell I was going to say All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah (Of course!) But it's a bit popular, so i'll go with my second favourite
ReplyDeleteLittle Donkey!!! (preferrably sung by a group of adorable 5 year olds at a school concert accompanied by wooden musical instruments)
Was all snuggled up with my fella listening to Frankie Goes to Hollywood - The power of love last night with a glass of port. Lush! xx
ReplyDeleteMerry Xmas Everybody by Slade - It makes me so happy and a tad emotional (I'm usually singing it while I'm roaring drunk of course...)
ReplyDeleteChristmas Wrapping. Of course.
ReplyDeleteMakes me feel grubby typing this, but it has to be another vote for Mariah 'All I want...'.
ReplyDeleteWell, obviously Mariah's magnum opus All I Want for Christmas Is You! It reminds me of my great friend Jess who's emigrated to Singapore - she's back for a holiday in six days so I'd clink a cognac with her before she heads back over the pond.
ReplyDelete"Baby Its Cold Outside". If Deano were singing that to me I'd be going nowhere!
ReplyDeleteChristmas Wrapping by The Waitresses - catchy.
ReplyDeleteThat or Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel. x
Its a contest between Wizzard and Slade. Because 70s is where Christmas is AT. I wish it could be Christmas everyday.... well here it is! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteEmily
fairtytale of new york... not very jolly but what a tune!
ReplyDelete"...And the boys of the NYPD blue are singing Galway Bay, As the bells are ringing out for Christmas Day..." Dah-da-da-da-da, Dah da-da-da-da-da...
ReplyDeleteLove it! Me, and The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl dancing around the kitchen of a Christmas morning - one hand stuffed up a turkey, the other clutching a large 'medicinal' brandy - what's not to like? ^_~
another fan of Santa Baby here. I'll pass on the sable but I'm all for light blue convertibles, anything from tiffanys and a yatch. Now there is a woman who knows what she wants.
ReplyDeleteI love Walking in a Winter Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteI am entering this on behalf of my husband, so his favourite is 'a spaceman came travelling'
ReplyDeleteSanta Claus is coming to town - the Dave Brubeck version. Because it's cool and jazzy and my son Finn has sung along to it since he was five years old.
ReplyDeleteBit of Kenny Rogers. Always.
ReplyDeleteAll I want for Christmas is you. My best friends and I text each other each time we hear it. Of the trad carols, the oh come let us adore him on - i like attempting the soprano and feeling v light headed afterwards...although that could be the mulled wine.
ReplyDeleteBing Crosby's White Christmas still takes some beating.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite xmas song is a brand new carol that i heard my little twins singing at their Nativity Play, called "Bumpy Road." Its always more special from the mouths of babes :) xx
ReplyDeleteStep into Christmas by Elton John! Cos it reminds me of school christmas parties :D
ReplyDeleteDriving home for Christmas
ReplyDeleteMy favourite has to be The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire...) sung by Nat King Cole. Never fails to get me in the mood.
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for Fairytale of New York- lovely!
ReplyDeleteMine has got to be mariah careys all I want for Xmas is you. ***sings this song to the picture of the pair of Cognac glasses*** lol. Xx
ReplyDelete@misssarahjay
Fairy tale in New York,easy..the magic of christmas along with the realism of squabbles and tetchiness and tipsy emotion x
ReplyDeleteIt used to be "Fairytale of New York" until a few years ago when I had flu and for some reason it became the soundtrack to my feverish dreams! I think now it's "Santa Baby" as it's so much fun to listen to and to sing!
ReplyDeleteI'm not ashamed to admit I love Brett Domino's - Christmas (This Year). I especially enjoy the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeEo9a8rbYk :)
ReplyDeleteYup, has to be Fairy Tale of New York.
ReplyDeleteIt always has been and always will be Fairy Tale of New York, because it reminds me of my dad :) (it was his favourite too!)
ReplyDeleteFrank Sinatra - The Christmas song - sounds like later, someone's gonna get whacked!
ReplyDeleteI like my Christmas songs with a little touch of gangster malice :)
A new one but ‘Time of the Season’ by Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan-haunting and strangely romantic
ReplyDeleteHas to be The Pogue's Fairytale of New York.
ReplyDeleteHas to be Last Christmas by Wham....I was suffering from my first broken heart and it matched my mood perfectly. When I hear it now I relive the angst I suffered and count my blessing for finding the man of my dreams. I am so lucky to be with the best husband a girl could ever wish for!
ReplyDeleteGot to be "White Christmas" and who knows we might get one this year :-)
ReplyDeleteJingle Bells
ReplyDelete'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' - Simply because I wish it could!
ReplyDeleteDriving home for Christmas - Chris Rea
ReplyDeletelove it love love it!
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by the Jackson Five! Always gets me in the spirit!
ReplyDelete[email protected]
Driving Home For Christmas.
ReplyDeleteAnother Christmas Song - Jethro Tull
ReplyDeleteBand Aid - Do they know its Christmas, keeping it real
ReplyDeleteWhite Christmas
ReplyDeleteSo many festive songs... but ultimately I am a sucker for the carols we sung in school. I think Away in a Manger is possibly my favourite - and I look forward to teaching it to my children so we can sing it in parts! (optimistic I know) ;-)
ReplyDeleteI soo love The Pogues and Kirsty McColls fairtytale of New York , you know its christmas when that ones playing.
ReplyDeletemust say - Marys' Boy Child - makes me feel all xhristmassy
ReplyDeleteI love ' Baby, it's cold outside' by Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews.
ReplyDeleteIt always makes me sing along.
