Treat yourself - just sit down and watch this trailer for the Advanced Style documentary. Now. Go on.
It's based on the wonderful website of the same name, the brain child of Ari Seth Cohen, who photographs the elders of New York in all their chic, flamboyant glory. I can't wait to see this film! Creative, fashionable and populated with inspiring people (and inspiring in a useful, everyday way rather than a guilt-inducing knit-your-own-yoghurt sort of way). I'm not particularly bothered about getting old, but the people on Advanced Style convince me it will be an adventure.
Visual impact, a sense of enormous fun and people living their lives with flair is what Advanced Style is about, and there are videos, blogs and advice columns from Cohen's muses. I could, and frequently have done so, spend hours watching the video interviews which are just fascinating: viz, Tziporah Salamon on layering.
So if you want to be inspired to wear more colour, or bring more fun into your wardrobe, or just admire some wonderful 80 and 90-something New Yorkers turning each day into an event, welcome Advanced Style's joie de vivre into your browser. I love this post about lasting friendship.
A book follows in June - I can't wait.
