The Magisso Magic Teacup

Tea leaves might make for an excellent brew (especially that TeaPigs tea that you're clearly all nuts for), but they are a bit of a faff. Morning cups of tea are not for faffing. But I could be swayed by this clever little teacup by Magisso.

I spotted it in Living Etc (while drinking builders tea from my Wonder Woman mug) and I'm charmed by the simple design and clever idea.

You put your leaves of choice in the little compartment and pour the water on. When you're finishing steeping, you tilt your cup the other way and drink! No little bits in your cup, no pesky strainer to rinse out (have you tried that? Last time I ended up with leaves in my EYE), just tasty tasty tea.

The only downside to this wonderful little contraption? Well, it's plastic. And it's £18 from Panik Design. Let's be honest: eighteen quid for a plastic cup is bloody steep (heh, steep) and you probably know by know how much I love my ceramics - this cup would look gorgeous in a matt finish.

Still, I really like the idea, and the design is so simple I think it's set to become quite iconic. Not bad for a plastic cup.

  1. Nooo! I thought it would be superfine bone china! But plastic? (shakes head in despair)

  3. I went from "Love this!" to "oh...plastic". Won't tea taste funny in a plastic cup?

  4. I had the same reaction as Sara. What a shame. Are we being too snobby?

  5. Most disappointed its plastic was going to buy for all my tea friends.

  6. To be fair, if they were ceramics, they be eleventy billion pounds.
