Sluttery Poll: How do you like your pancakes?
Hurrah! Pancake day! A whole day just for eating tasty tasty pancakes?! Best day of 2010, so far surely? But pancakes are something that people are very traditional about. I prefer mine with lemon and sugar. They're perfect that way. But others are much more a fan of the whole maple syrup and bacon thing. I'm not sure I dig the whole savoury thing, but each to their own.
What's your favourite pancake? Tell us in the poll below. And then let's ponder why we only have pancake day once a year...

Syrup and grated mild cathedral city cheddar . . .
ReplyDeleteYum
Ally
Start off with a savoury one, just cheese and maybe some ham, nothing crazy. Then for pudding, chocolate sauce with chocolate icecream, all the way!
ReplyDeleteNoooooo lemonandsugarlemonandsugarlemonandsugar=D
ReplyDeleteI like a savoury pancake course followed by a sweet pancake course! I like my savoury ones with cheese, or maybe cheese and garlic mushrooms. Actually I had cheese and pesto last year, they were great. Basically as long as it involves cheese, I'm happy. Then sweet ones with maple syrup or lemon and sugar!
ReplyDeleteDrop scones with home-made jam and butter. Thick pancakes all the way. Yum yum. Mind you, if you put a think one in front of me right now I wouldn't say no!
ReplyDeleteSmokey bacon, strawberrys and maple syrup. Heaven.
ReplyDeleteBacon AND Strawberries?! Craziness!
ReplyDeleteAmerican style with blueberries, bacon and maple syrup for everyday, but for pancake day it has to be French-style crepe, thin pancakes. A savoury (cheese and ham) course followed by lemon and sugar. Yay!
ReplyDeleteHas to be the traditional lemon and sugar here - lots and lots of lemon, too...
ReplyDeletePancakes with apples, strawberry jam on the side or just a sprinkle of powdered sugar on top with a glass of milk to go together. I have never tried lemon-sugar thing though or the American thing with syrup and bacon. Bacon and sweet syrup??? Really?
ReplyDeletealthough we, Lithuanians, do make strange-sounding pancakes with herring fillet - those of course are NOT served with anything sweet on the side.. :) we also make pancakes from potatoes, they are of our national cuisine (sour-cream on the side or sometimes plum jam). Those could also be served with smoked salmon pieces and curd-garlic sauce (though I think this is not from the national cuisine) :)
Start with savoury but then butter and sugar is amazing, doesn't sound good but just you try it, thank you Frenchie housemates!
ReplyDeleteWhat is American Style? I am in the US so maybe I just don't get it :)
ReplyDeleteAaaah, sorry Kelly! To you, they must just be pancakes! The American pancakes are much thicker. The ones we have over here are much more like crepes. They're both yummy.
ReplyDeleteAhhh that's what I suspected but I wasn't sure. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWith butter and powdered sugar on top, which melt together to form a thin frosting. Oh, and my husband has to make them. Pancakes are the only thing he makes, and he does it well.
ReplyDeletegolden syrup and lemon juice!
