A Perfect Playsuit

I don't think I'm a playsuit kind of girl. I've just got on board with jumpsuits, but playsuits are just not very me. But then I saw this one at Karen Millen, and it's seriously making me reconsider.

I love the shape and the fact that it still looks structured, despite being something you'd wear during the day. The double straps are cute, and it actually looks like it'll be super flattering. It also doesn't look like something you would have worn to playgroup.

And, it's in the sale so it's £80 instead of £120. What do you think? Are you a playsuit convert, or are you more likely to stick to shorts or dresses?

  1. I think you'd probably have to pay me a lot of cash (or get me quite drunk) to ever get me in a playsuit. Or a jumpsuit, for that matter! But then I also feel fairly similarly about shorts....

  2. Helen, I used to *hate* shorts. Until I tried a pair on. Turns out they're leg-skinnying and talk-making! Who knew?!

  3. I'm starting to like playsuits now, and this one has got a more grown up feel to it. I bet it would look fab with a gingham shirt and peep toes. Having said that, I wouldn't wear it myself. Maybe I'm just not brave enough, but I'd rather wear a dress.

  4. I bought a "playsuit" as a reaction to my friend saying they shouldn't be worn by anyone over the age of 22 (i'm well into my thirties). Have to say, i love it, super comfy and chic. There is one downfall however, visiting the ladies room is tricky.

  5. It's cute, it looks a bit 50s retro. £80 though? Too much for me.

I don't like shorts either, I'm pretty fussy about them, and tbh I'm not really that keen on trousers (except jeans). I'm quite curvy with a little waist & I find it really hard to find ones that fit! Plus instead of gazelle-like legs I've got Shetland pony.

  7. I quite like the look of playsuits (can't stand the name, though!) but I have a feeling I'd look horrific in one. I reckon most of the ones I've seen would be too tight on my thunder thighs, and I'd then get unsightly bunching around the crotch area. Classy.

Mind you I'm also not a fan of shorts - I have the same problem as I have with jeans. If they fit on the waist, they're too tight on the thighs, and if they go over my thighs, they're ridiculously baggy on the waist. I haven't found a flattering pair of shorts yet!

  8. Siany - I am not convinced, though I may possibly try on a pair again now you've mentioned the leg skinnying bit! (PS hope you are feeling better)

Allie and Kate - Vivien of Holloway have just started doing shorts, which are cut for hourglassy figures (all a bit 40's/50's Retro - I have the same problem with trousers only with giraffe legs instead!). If you were interested and liked retro enough it might be worth a try?

  9. I live in shorts and playsuits - I think I have about 7 of the former and 3 of the latter. Bar the difficulties in going to the loo in a playsuit, as mentioned above, I love their practicality for things like sitting on the tube without accidentally flashing!

Kate, I'm also short, curvy with small waist and slightly stubby legs but they seem to work for me so I encourage you give them a try. The ones Helen suggested sound really nice and I've also got a very flattering pair from New Look in a similar style.

  10. My high-waisted shorts are from New Look! I'm not the most typical of shapes (certainly not super skinny) and they work well. Cheap too!

  11. Thanks for the tips ladies! Vivien of Holloway and New Look *mental note*.

  12. My one foray into the world of playsuits was in a miniscule gold number, worn on a night out in Ibiza. Since then, I think the world has seen quite enough of me in playsuits for one lifetime. Steering clear... although highly envious of ladies who can pull the look off.

  13. Playsuits are all very well until you actually need to go to the loo... I can't face the feeling of shivering practically naked in a public toilet! 'Tis cute though.
