If you're over a size 9 when it comes to footwear, then Kat's covered your needs magnificently. Bookmark her research and you'll never want for pretty shoes again.
But what if you're at the other end of the shoe spectrum? Finding a decent pair of shoes if you're below a size 4 can be a right pain if you don't want to venture into Gap Kids. Thankfully, more and more shops are stocking size 1, 2 and 3, and even size 13. I've rounded up a mixture of specialist shops for petite feet, and general retailers who've realised that selling footwear to fit more women can only be A Good Thing.
Petit Feet (from size 1)
Petit Feet do exactly what you'd expect from their name, stocking only shoes in sizes 1, 2 or 3. An excellent search function makes it easy to search by size, colour or heel height. They're currently awaiting new spring/summer stock so keep checking back for a full range. In the meantime, these leopard print low heels are just £20 and these exciting (and apparently very comfortable) glitter platforms are £36.
The Little Shoe Shop (from size 13)
If you're in London, you can pop to The Little Shoe Shop in Marylebone. If not, have a browse online. They're one of few shops to go even smaller than a size 1. They're not cheap - I couldn't see much under £100 - but look like they're made to last. These purple patent heels are £116.55, or pick up these crossover strappy sandals for summer.
Javari (from size 2)
One-day delivery and free returns mean you can go crazy ordering from Javari, try your shoes on at home, and send back any you don't like. Nice and easy. Javari was built by Amazon and features a similarly huge range and brilliant search function (don't just search by 'heels' - narrow it right down to 'mary jane heels' or even 'exotic heels'. Ooh err). Pick up some quilted leather ballet pumps for £75, Fly London wedge heels in a range of colours for £62.99, or this polka-dot pair for £55.
Upper Street (from size 1.5)
You've probably already played around on the Upper Street website, designing your favourite pair of shoes. They're a rather fabulous way of creating your perfect pair (they come in half-sizes and with a choice of width fittings), but spendy at £195-£265 plus extra for embellishments. Even if you're not investing, read their design tips for small shoes that could stand you in good stead when shopping for your next pair, wherever they come from.
Clarks (from size 2)
We've been feeling the Clarks love in Sluttery HQ lately - their latest collection is ticking all our boxes. They've got only two perfunctory pairs in size 2/2.5, sadly, but go up to size 3 and boom, over 200 pairs to choose from. They include these Cassie Shore heels from their Liberty collection, the cut out brogues we were drooling over, coral pumps you can roll up and throw in your bag, and gold leather court shoes.
Aldo (from size 3)
Not everything at Aldo is brilliantly comfortable, so pop into a branch to try them on if you can. I'm quite a fan of these pixellated heels that look like they've been blurred out on Crimewatch, and these mid-heels in yellow are satisfyingly springlike.
Small Measures (from size 1)
Based on the Isle of Wight, Small Measures were originally set up by a family of small footed women. They have remarkably good prices - these two tone brogues are just £20. Their website isn't the prettiest and they have limited photos, plus I've never bought from them so can't vouch for them, but they might be worth a punt.
Irregular Choice (from 2.5)
You'll either love or hate the madly creative shoes from Irregular Choice. Actually, women tend to love them while men say "good LORD what are those mad things on your feet?" You can't search by size so you'll have to click on your favourites and cross your fingers they come in your size. I'm smitten with these Mhairi shoes which are a whopping £89.99 (please be in the sale, please be in the sale...).
ASOS (from size 3)
ASOS have a remarkable range of size 3 shoes - over 1000 pairs. Price-wise, they range from from simple £18 t-bar ballet flats to to
£205 Sam Edelman spiked mega heels. And I can't not mention these floral print Ted Baker shoes with gold lining. Or these espadrille flatforms (such an inelegant word) that you could run around in all summer.
Petite-footed ladies: do any of these take your fancy? And where else do you shop - especially if you're siee 2 or below? Do share your knowledge in the comments, there's an army of women with tiny feet out there who will thank you FOREVER.

Asda kids' section!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky enough to be a size 4 though - but this is a great guide.
I have tried the Little Shoe Shop and got one pair of shoes for a wedding in the sale there - I take a 1 sometimes 2 or 2.5. Strangely, M&S size 3 sometimes comes up quite a bit smaller so I try on most of their shoes and some fit thank goodness, so I get most of my shoes there actually!
DeleteThat's a top tip! Small or large sizes seem to be quite erratic between shops.
DeleteOoo, some lovely shoes! Wanting several of these...
ReplyDeleteIt's not all sunshine, you know, if you are a size 5.5... I have very narrow feet. Until DS was born, they were AA fitting all over, now they are a bit broader across the front, but still AA at the heel. Finding shoes to fit is a nightmare - I hate shoe-shopping! I just have to keep going round and trying things on, but frankly, it's very difficult and I am usually wearing shoes that don't really fit. Lace-ups feature largely in my wardrobe. Boots? hmm... and forget about sling-backs or "slip-ons"- they just fall straight off. My mum has the same issue and saves up to buy shoes from James Inglis in Scotland. However, they stock AAA, AA fittings mostly, with the occasional B. No-one seems to stock a "C"... it's either ultra-narrow, or uber-wide (think EE and EEE!!). Blah!
So, tiny-footsers and long-lean-ladies, you are not alone in having Shoe-buying Issues!
But I do love some of those shoes above.... blue Liberty prints - sigh... patent sandals - sigh... oooo...
Great post - it's lovely that you take the trouble to find out all this information for us!
Lizzie, I have exactly the same issue - in fact, I wrote this post about unruly feet last year: http://www.domesticsluttery.com/2011/04/shoe-porn-pretty-shoes-for-unruly-feet.html
DeleteI need to be thoroughly strapped into a shoe, otherwise they just fall off. STUPID FEET.
Kat's reminded me about DUO, who do shoes, ankle boots and boots from size 2 up: http://www.duoboots.com
ReplyDeleteI use brantano (often with insoles to take up a half size) or new look kids' dept.
ReplyDeleteBoohoo.com does AMAZING shoes from size 2 :) Thanks for the guide!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! Boohoo's clothes can be a bit hit-and-miss, I find, but it sounds like their shoes are ace.
DeleteHi use forbiddenheels.co.uk for women with small feet size 1 or 2 she is cheap and the shoes are good quality!!
DeleteUm just looked on Boohoo.com, they start at size 3!!!! Just can't find 2.5 shoes without taking out another mortgage!!!!
DeleteDamn, I really like those Irregular Choice shoes.
ReplyDeleteSame here. If they're not massively reduced in the sale, I shall have a tantrum in the shop.
DeleteAnyone with weenie feet looking for Irregular Choice etc. Should definitely check on amazon and javari. So many times I've seen a cracking deal of 70% or so off and they've only had small and big sizes left. Being an ordinary 6 I had no luck but hopefully you guys can bag a deal!
ReplyDeleteGood advice. Amazon's shoes are fairly random - they only ever have a handful of pairs, but can have excellent discounts.
DeleteShould also check Schuh's outlet store on eBay, as they usually have ex-display shoes there! Thanks for listing all these, I'm a size three and was very disappointed when New Look dramatically reduced the range they did in a size 3. The size was always in the sale so I could always count on them for a bargain - but they evidently lost a lot of money from them!
ReplyDeleteExcellent job and very good compilation of the collection. You can check http://www.chappalwala.com for more such collection of shoes and of-course you can buy shoes online with amazingly low price. I bought one for my girlfriend :)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pretty-small-shoes.com/ have a huge range. They are expensive but the shoes are very good quality, the service is excellent, and they currently have a sale!
ReplyDeleteThe problem with size 3 in some shops is that the vast majority label a European 36 as a 3 - it's not! A 35.5 is a 3, and can be found in M&S and Next on the high street but not many other places. A 36 is a 3.5 and way too big for this genuine 3.
ReplyDeleteOh lawdy - I am 25 years too late, now that I am 50, slightly *ahem* overweight, have lost my nerve in heels (due to a fall in 2 1/2 inch heel boots can you believe it) and completely, and I mean completely, broke, there are size 2 and 2.5 shoes all over the blimmin' place. pah!
ReplyDeleteSusan x
PS Pavers are good for 'cough' slightly older ladies, decent prices too.
My problem is I take size 2.5 with an EE fitting. My gran would have laughed at the only shoes I have seen. As for socks and slippers..........
ReplyDeleteTry forbiddenheels.co.UK they have lovely petite feet heels x
ReplyDeleteI am from Gibraltar and I am coming to London next month do do some Christmas shopping. Whilst I'm there I want to look for shoes that FIT ME! I think I am a size 2.5 as size 3's are big for me. I also do all the insole bits and bobs in order to be able to wear heels.
ReplyDeleteWhere would you recommend me to go in order for me to find some shoes that are actually my size.
Thanks a lot.
Tyrene, Im from Gibraltar too but no live here..I actually go to spain to look for shoes!!
DeleteFor Tyrene - if you have slim feet then I recommend The Little Shoe Shop in Marylebone - expensive but well made, and mostly in a C width fitting.
ReplyDeleteFor all you other petite feeters out there - I am a size 2 D or possibly a E fitting. I've had no luck finding comfortable court shoes but Zara children, and Jones the Bootmaker do decent childrens flat boots. I bought 2 pairs of high heeled boots from Next childrens some years ago that I'm still wearing but sadly they've stopped making decent high heeled boots now and I haven't a clue where to get some more!
I have just looked up forbidden heels and ordered a pair of shoes in a size 1 ,
ReplyDeletecan't wait til they come as I have been finding it very hard to find a pair of shoes for going out .
I came across this page and I am over the moon , so hopefully I get my shoes soon and I will b ordering many more from there as she's got loads of lovely shoes and cheap as normally to get shoes in my size it's a fortune :(. I also like brantanos but not a load of choices :(
some great links on here .. i dispair at finding shoes being a 1 and 1/2 and fairly wide foot :(
ReplyDeleteBarratts do a tall and small range, but are almost exclusively online now .. worth a look though if you are size 1 or 2. river island also do some nice options in the kids section.
yes i need my shoes too
Deletei am a size 2 and also find it v difficult to find stylish platform heels for nights out. i normally use ebay. so glad to have found forbidden heels and also the range that boohoo.com do. thankyou girls!!!!! p.s there is a website called modatoi heels normally starting at £35 but have never used them
ReplyDeleteSo nice to know it is not just me with weird feet, I have one 2.5 and one 1.5 both so wide they border on square. I have had great success with Sarenza who being a european site do lots of small sizes and they have free returns.
ReplyDeleteSorry for not knowing.. But is this UK sizes? I am a US size 5 and no one has my size.
ReplyDeleteIt is UK sizes, Stephanie. A US size 5 is 2.5 in the UK so hopefully you'll find some useful shops here.
DeleteThis is fantastic, I'm only a size 13 or 1 and trying to find shoes for my graduation ball. thank you
ReplyDeleteHope you find something pretty, Andrea!
DeleteI'm from Germany and also wear a UK 1.5 or EU 33/34. For international shops I can recommend http://www.yoox.com. It's an outlet for designer fashion, so you have to watch out for the real snips. http://www.yesstyle.com is a shop for Asian brands, I made good experiences with it. Naturally I know a lot of shops in Germany. If you travel to Germany, the best place for petite shoes is Düsseldorf, because of the big Japanese community there, I suggest.
ReplyDeleteHello Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI have some AMAZING NEWS (if you're like me and struggle to find UK SIZE 2 heels this will make your day too!)
ASOS are finally stocking size 2 heels they have a MASSIVE range, really stylish and I've finally found the style ive wanted for ages (sandal cuff heel!) not a bad price either
CHECK THEM OUT and get buying so they dont get rid of it!! :-)
xx
Brilliant; thanks for this. It's so irritating that most shops don't stock small sizes. I'm a UK 2.5 (EU 35) and hardly ever wear skirts or dresses because I can't get the shoes to go with them. (Can't get the skirts or dresses for a 5ft 0in either, but that's another story.)
ReplyDeleteI wear a size 2!!! I've just come across My Petite Shoes www.mypetiteshoes.co.uk, they have a range of shoes and boots in UK sizes 13-2 :-)
ReplyDeleteIf size 2 is small, consider mine SIZE ONE . Limited choice out there, not to mention about the look. I have to browse around kids department. Sometimes they do have not so kiddie shoes if I am lucky. Well, got use to it. but not giving up looking for small and pretty shoes, both high street or on internet.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing website! I now have lots of websites I never knew existed and am very grateful for the information here. I am looking for a black pair of courts or open toes and am a 2-2.5 its my sons wedding on 15th and I am panicking!! Hopefully I will now be able to find a pair
ReplyDeleteHi have you tried Ego Shoes? shoes range from size 13-3.
ReplyDeletewww.egoshoes.co.uk
You should try a pair of shoe sizing insert cushions..... They bridge the gap in the shoe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, but I am fed up being 'grateful' for buying over-priced shoes for tiny feet, and having a very limited choice of style and colour. Most women (size 3 and above) pay £30-£40 for similar quality shoes and get lots of choice.
ReplyDeleteIt's discrimination that we women with petite feet have to pay SO much more and are very limited in choice. I don't have the money to pay over £100 for one pair and so when I do because I have no choice they have to last until they are completely wrecked.
I have used The Little Shoe Shop in London when I've been close to barefoot, and when I complained about the prices I told quite gleefully 'well this the only place you can get them' Sums is up really - held to ransom for having small feet. Grrrrr :(
I'm a 13/1 UK sizes so we all get a good range of peppa pig or fifi and the flowertots....not exactly what a girl wants to go partying in! if you have the money, prettysmallshoes do a lovely range. but as said before, you have to pay through the roof for them, considering they use less material than the average shoe sizes. are there any websites where we don't have to pay more than £40? being a student with limited funds can be a problem!
ReplyDeletequiz sometimes do a size uk2 and ebay are really good as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this, I've just ordered a pair of size 1 heels from forbidden heels, can't wait to see them and see if they actually fit!!
ReplyDeleteHow did your shoes work out? I wear a size one in children's but hoping that if I order a pair of uk size 12 from forbidden heels that they'll work.
DeleteWhy should we have to spend ridiculous amounts on shoes when they use less material? I just want to go into a shop and buy a pair of nice heels that arent ridiculously high and I can be like everyone else. Im fed up of people laughing or going aww thats so cute
ReplyDeleteI have just checked out Forbiddenheels.co.uk, and IT IS BRILLIANT! having size 2 feet is a nightmare, but after seeing this sight I don't care anymore, we little people can have anything that anyone else can and my only problem now is trying to choose which ones to get first !!!
ReplyDeleteI am a size 1 american size 12 uk can u guys gve me sites besides forbidden heels. so i cn find shoes for me..i rly wud appriciate it..
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought to try Clarks online - I've completely given up on their actual shops, because they never have anything in my size (UK 3). I once went in to look at their sale items and upon asking where the 3s were was told they didn't bother to put any out, and I'd have to find any shoes I liked and ask if they have them - rather not the point!
ReplyDeleteTry http://www.lightinthebox.com/ they have Euro size 32 / UK size 1 onwards...
ReplyDeleteyes i need my shoes too must look great
