Laura Ashley isn't somewhere I'd think to shop for wallpaper. I love a floral print on a dress but their wallpaper is chintz, chintz and more chintz. There's only so much of it you can look at before you get a bit of a headache.
Just as I was about to close my browser tab and ward off floral-induced-blog-post migraine (shut up, that's totally a thing), I spotted this Beside-The-Sea wallpaper. This is more like it, Ms Ashley! This is such a very lovely paper.
Black and white papers aren't very common, I think they're often dismissed for being too harsh, but the old fashioned photographs are ideal. They're such fun. Where are the images from, I wonder? Are they old photographs from the designer? I'd love to be having a cup of tea and for a friend to recognise one of the caravans or sandcastles.
There's also a Pimlico print version with some very well-dressed people on which is sadly sold out (more expected at the end of the month). The seaside paper is a bargain - just £17 a roll (down from £35 in the sale). You'll have money left over to actually take a trip to the seaside after all of your DIY hard work.
See, I love their chintzy wallpapers but not this. Like the idea but something about having strangers photographs on my wall creeps me out a bit. I can see why some would like it though.
ReplyDeleteYep, can totally see why someone wouldn't like it - unless they're your photos it might seem a little strange.
DeleteBrilliant! Love this! I adore old photos of the seaside.... Although I suspect I would want to start colouring this in of I had it on my walls!
