Paper & Penmanship Q&A with Aimee from Postcarden

I've been a fan of Postcarden since discovering Aimee's work early last year. I'm so happy she's taking part in our Paper & Penmanship event. She's going to help you make your own Postcardens, and introduce her new adorable range of Matchcardens so you can design a whole little village to give to someone special. I really want a little desk village.

What do you love most about sending postcards?

I like knowing that the person receiving it will be surprised to receive it. We all correspond by text, phone, email or social media these days so letter writing and sending greetings via the post is not so frequent as it used to be. I love receiving anything other than a bill or junk mail so its a little 'lift' to the day when you find an unexpected hand written message from a loved one on your door mat.

Who is the coolest person to send a Postcarden?

Scarlett Johansson once bought one from London design shop Magma.

What was the last handwritten letter you received? Who was it from?

My mum is great at sending hand written notes, letters, little gifts in the post. They come totally out of the blue and contain a recipe, photo or chocolate....all just to say 'I'm thinking of you' which is always so lovely to receive.

Where are your favourite stationery shops?

I love Magma and Liberty and I'm constantly buying craft supplies from Cowling and Wilcox and Paperchase.

Tell us about a brilliant secret Sluttery thing.

I love visiting ephemera fairs to find old greeting cards and letters. It's great for inspiration and to delve into a little bit of history about where someone was when and what they had to say. The language they use and the Scripture writing can take you right back in time.
