A Letter From A Stranger
It should be obvious that the Domestic Sluts love letter-writing, so Call Me Balthazar's letter project was always going to get our ink pens flowing. Send Balthazar (self-styled 'imaginary sailor, pretend photographer') your address, suggest a topic or opt for rambling nonsense, pay him $5 and patiently wait for your letter. He'll also pop a polaroid in too. Younglings: this might be retro now, but this is like an 80s flashback to me.
There is something so intimate about a letter that my first instinct on receiving it was to curl up somewhere quiet to read it. My fabulous letter covered cats, narwhals and, somehow, the amygdala. Balthazar is such a brilliant letter writer - effortlessly charming and chatty but not over-familiar - that you'll be inspired to write your own. Treat yourself to some fancy stationery, dig out your best pen and write a rambling missive to your mum, dad, best friend, or significant other (even if you live with them). It says "I'm thinking of you, you awesome creature" in a way no email or text message ever could.

He's an absolute gent.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit worried about giving my address to a stranger, but no-one's come round and knife-crimed me (yet).
ReplyDeleteWhee! I'm so happy that my letter found you, Sara! I hope it brought you some smiles.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I miss letter-writing so much. When I first moved to the Midlands at 14, all of my old friends and I used to send each other letters weekly. I would get post every day and would sit on the bus to school reading pages of hand-written nonsense from my friends. It was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBut you still send letters, Elizabeth. I like your letters very much - they have indoor fireworks in.
