Shoe Porn: Clarks Suede Lace-ups

I’m fully expecting these velvet lace shoes to be controversial.

But, throwing caution to the wind as only a Domestic Slut can, I have decided to love them. They’re suede, which for rain reasons, I don’t even like (oh the horror, the horror!), and not even high heeled enough to make my calves look spectacular. But there is something about them, a certain je ne sais quoi, if you will. (I will.)

I think the answer lies in the velvety laces. When I look at them, I think 1940’s, I think dances with handsome soldiers wearing floral dresses and silk stockings (me, obviously, not the soldiers) I think red lipstick and curled hair. I think Laura and Alec from Brief Encounter. Or am I being too romantic? Just a touch?

It would take a special occasion to crack these babies out, and you’d have to commit to a ladylike look. But having said that, it doesn’t really put me off. They’re £69 from ASOS.
