Seeing as we're just a few hours away from two days of uninterrupted leisure I thought I'd take the opportunity to share an incredible gin based cocktail to kick off the weekend. One of my more successful 'accidental' bar orders of the last few years was the London Calling. Sat with a cocktail menu in front of me trying desperately to impress someone, I nervously picked out this cutely named but promisingly delicious drink. If the menu was to be believed it would marry gin and sherry together which would at the very least redeem my attempts at small talk.
Boozy from the gin, complex from the mix of sherry, lemon and orange bitters it its a really quick and easy to make drink with a sophisticated taste that belies the small list of ingredients… I reckon you could even get away with dropping the bitters.
You'll need:
- 50ml gin
- 15ml dry sherry
- 15ml lemon juice
- 15ml agave syrup or sugar syrup
- a couple of dashes of orange bitters
Make it:
- Shake all the ingredients in an ice filled shaker for 10-15 seconds
- Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass
