Prices from £30? CHECK. Lady Vintage has managed that rare trick of producing knock-out dresses for knock-down prices. I'm starting to sound like an over-eager Apprentice candidate, so let's look at some glorious frocks.
This bird and floral print dress features an enormous full skirt that would see you twirling around giddily while simply waiting for the bus. Click through to have a closer look at the print - the blue birds and yellow flowers pop on that black fabric. This frock's £45.
You can never have enough birds and flowers, this time gracing a dress that's perfect for spring. For £35 you get a dress that's fully lined, comes with a detachable belt, and WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GET YOUR CREDIT CARD OUT. Oh, except they're awaiting new stock in June. Stand down.
I love the stark simplicity of these grey roses. £30 will get you one, but it's only available in limited sizes.
After something simpler? This navy blue and white polka dot number will be available from June for £45.
Their swing dresses really are the stars of the show, but they also have some ace wiggle dresses if you like something more fitted, and some bargainous shift dresses in the sale. All this, and delivery is free over £50 or just £2.95 per order otherwise. Cor.
Hooray! FINALLY some lovely vintage style dresses that don't cost a fortune, this is what I've been waiting for thanks so much! That's the wedding season sorted now!
ReplyDeleteYep, I think I'm going to invest in one for a civil partnership this summer. Which one(s) have you got your eye on, Emma?
DeleteLove them all! I thinking I could have a new dress for each wedding this year, instead of one for all! Thank you! I love the navy and white spot dress, and the black and red floral with birds.
ReplyDeleteGot two of these now. Such good value. But I have some advice ladies - order a size down unless you are really busty (over an E cup). They're very generous, especially round the top. xx
ReplyDeleteWow those bird prints are really lovely!
ReplyDeleteGenerous in the top? Great! I'm used to ordering a size or two too big. How long are they? I'm cursed with being short as well as big busted :(
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'7 and the swing dress hits my knee. The Hepburn is a bit longer, comes a couple of inches below.
DeleteSchweeeet! I managed to get the black and blue/green fan print dress for just £30 - Thank You!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe second dress and the last one is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this! I've been looking for a vintage style dress for a wedding this summer and these are half the cost of the ones I've been looking at!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you all know that the Navy Blue Polka will be back in stock in around 2 weeks! 43 different prints in the swing dresses - all lined!
ReplyDeleteI've just bought the Black & Bird Print Floral Hepburn Dress for a wedding. It's so pretty and can't wait for it's arrival! Thanks DS for your daily blog of glorious-ness
ReplyDeleteI am completely in love with the blue polka dot dress
ReplyDeleteHeya,
ReplyDeleteI am a proper plus size. I have a couple of their Audrey dresses, and they're made from decent enough fabric. I am going to have to take them up by about 4in to be the same length as my petticoats, but all in all was happy when each of them arrived. Their exchange/returns service is jolly good, too.
*BUT* I was damn annoyed at how much they could reduce the same items for the sale - before xmas £40, after xmas £17. If that reflects extent of the mark-up applied to full price items, I now feel thoroughly fleeced. (And one of those was my xmas present, when I could have had a Collectif voucher instead!)
So I would happy to be a customer again for the dresses, but not at the £40 - £50 mark, which were the two dresses next on my list. Instead I'll wait for the next set of sale items, or keep a look on their ebay listings.

I understand why so soon after you bought your dress you'd be annoyed at it being in the sale. But don't feel fleeced! The general rule for making up from a wholesale price is to double to cost and add the VAT. So it's unlikely that Lady Vintage made a profit on the dresses in the sale - if they did it would be marginal. But they have to make way for new stock and new designs to keep afloat - you can't sell old dresses at high prices! High Street shops actually have store card insurance if this happens - so if you have a store card with them you'll get your money back if the price drops (probably not a good reason to get a store card). But at that point, it's about not losing money.
DeleteThis isn't fleecing customers, it's making a profit and then it's cutting your losses when an item doesn't do as well as you'd hope. The dresses are such good value at full price - as you've said, you're happy with your dress - maybe just wait until the sale before you purchase again if you're not happy paying full price.
