Whether it's an alignment of the planets, or the fall-out from the Brian Cox effect, plenty of eyes seem to be gazing upwards at the moment to produce designs that are astronomically inspired. Piece of evidence number one is the heavenly new Karen Walker collection. It's out of this world and sadly, almost, guaranteed to be out of my price range.
Thankfully, to ease my despair, Cleo Ferrin Mercury's Galaxy Bag moved quickly into my orbit. While it's a save up all your pocket money £85, this bag is not only beautiful, made from a combination of canvas and leather, but is roomy enough to be practical too. I'd like to think it proves something along the lines of that Oscar Wilde quote: we've all got the clutter but some of us are looking at the stars.
Moving swiftly on, far more down-to-earth price-wise is this vintage star chart from Present and Correct which sells for only £14.50. Buy them both and become a star-spotting expert.
If you're already a proud owner of a moon bowl, you'll be a lunatic to miss out on the Kikkerland glow in the dark clock. Sure to light up the darkest evenings, it's £45.
More planetary activity comes courtesy of Caitlin Hinshelwood's hand screen-printed planets tote. Sure to be universally admired, it's yours for £35 from her Etsy shop.
Space on your walls? Though this print from Brainstorm is intended for kids, I think it's a star piece for grown-ups too. It's £30 from Flood Junior Gallery. There's a corresponding Southern Hemisphere print too.
Finally, before my cosmic punning becomes even more painful, these star studded ankle socks are just £8 from Urban Outfitters and offer a new meaning to the term twinkle toes. They're pretty stellar.
