Mr Boddington's Penguin Classics

I'm such a sucker for a classic book with a beautiful cover. I might be a little in love with my ereader, but I'm roughly 76% more likely to buy a book because it has a great cover. Mr Boddington's Studio know what I mean. They've created an exclusive range of Penguin covers, available only at Anthropologie.

I don't yet own a bright yellow copy of Jane Eyre (I do have a bright red version). I think she looks rather nice in yellow.

Actually, I don't own any Austen. Although this copy of Sense & Sensibility looks lovely, I've only read Mansfield Park. This should hopefully explain why I don't own any Jane Austen.

My very first super special book was a complete works of Lewis Carroll. It was a gift from my parents when I was around 9, I think. I still have it on my bookshelf. I'd still quite like this copy of Alice in Wonderland.

Beautiful editions make us want to read beautiful books. This copy of Wuthering Heights might be a little too twee for my liking - it's not really capturing the whole hate/obsession/anger thing that Cathy and Heathcliffe had going on. But the cover is still utterly gorge.

These editions are, somewhat surprisingly given Anthro's penchant for whacking their prices up so high that my eyes water, only £9.99 each. There are six in the range, which means the UK shop is waiting on a couple more. But that's not a problem, I'll be busy working my way through this little lot and trying to find space for them on my 'super posh books' shelf.

  1. Amen to the comment about Mansfield Park. Is there a bigger drip in all of literature than Fanny Price?

    1. No, I don't think there is. Despite everyone telling me that the others are so much better, I can always find something else that I'd rather read!

  2. Please read Pride and Prejudice, it is beautiful and in my opinion the best book she wrote. I just don't think any of the films do the book justice :-)

  3. I had to write an essay at A-level entitled "My Fanny". Really.
