Chandelier Time: Alexander & Pearl Multi-Coloured Chandelier

I can't decide whether this multi-coloured acrylic chandelier by Alexander & Pearl is gorgeously vivid, modern and fun or whether it looks like it should belong in a vulgar and OTT child's bedroom or doll's house. What do you think? There's something about it that demands attention, and if it was used as a statement feature in an otherwise minimalist room it could look dramatic.

But what would you do about the colour scheme in the room? Would it clash with other accessories and textiles, or would its range of colours make it easy to match and co-ordinate the room's other items? It seems like an interior design minefield, but even so I can't stop obsessing over it. Luckily, it's £145. Although that's much less than similar designs by other brands, it's still out of my price range for now, which means I can hopefully stop fantasising about it in the meantime!

  1. It's so vulgar and vivid it works. I want.

  2. No, doesn't do it for me I'm afraid - but with two small girls I have a severe aversion to pink!

  3. I'd love to see it in a black and white room...

  6. I have a friend with one of these. It's absolutely gorgeous, she and I think. (Our husbands disagree.) She has hung it in a white stairwell with one turquoise accent wall, and it looks fabulous.

  7. I know someone witha chandelier like this in her flat. It works really well with the rest of her quirky decor - she has a rug shaped like Animal from the Muppets - but I think it'd be difficult to pull off in most rooms. I want one, obviously.
