Sluttery DIY: The Painted House

I was browsing through the Home section of Flipboard the other day (seriously, if you don't have that app, get it. It's ace.) when I came across this post from Freshome about rubber cut paint rollers. I think this is one of the best DIY things I've ever seen.

Clare Bosanquet of The Painted House found the rollers on a market in Romania, bought them all then wondered what to do with them. Clever Clare adapted them to work on fabric or on walls as is traditional. This is stamping on a grand scale.
Fabric painting - that's how we roll [sorry]
The effect is very gentle but super effective. I've already imagined how all of my rooms will look with this done to them. And if you mess up? Simply paint over and start again. I can see that it would take a steady hand and eye to get it absolutely perfect but some flaws will only add to the character.
Don't fret though - The Painted House have done step-by-step guides for both the wall and fabric applicators.

The applicators cost £10 for the wall and paper one and £20 for the fabric one. The rollers cost £15 and can be used in both applicators. They're all available from The Painted House's Etsy shop. Now to choose paint colours...

  2. Oh these are just amazing! Now all I have to do is convince my husband that we *need* them for the kitchen renovation. Thank you so much for posting!

  3. These are awesome! Brilliant alternative to wallpaper (I detest wallpaper with a passion).
