Top Ten St Patrick's Day Recipes
It's St Patrick's Day on 17th March. We could celebrate by wearing ridiculous giant green hats, talking in dreadful Irish accents and dying all our food green (and we just might), or we could eat (and drink). We've got some great Irish inspired recipes for you to make to celebrate St Paddy in style.
Think Ireland, think Guinness. You're welcome to drink yours straight, but why not try some great cocktails instead? The Black Velvet is practically obligatory on St Patrick's Day and the Midnight is a life-enhancing mixture of Guinness and port.
Chocolate and Guinness are an amazing combination, try these pancakes if you don't believe us. How does chocolate Guiness gingerbread sound? Bloody brilliant, that's how it sounds.
If there's ever a way to make something more awesome, it's to add cheese. Guinness fondue is the melty, cheesey, savoury Black Velvet that your life has been missing.
If you don't have a stomach for the black stuff, try its tiny look-a-like, the Mini Guinness, which contains no Guinness whatsoever. If that's not your style, how about whiskey? Just remember, whiskey with an 'e' is Irish, without is Scottish, so make yours a whiskey mac or a whisk(e)y sour this weekend!
Want a cake that looks like Guinness? You've got it! Our Guinness free Guinness cake is the best thing to happen to a packet of cake mix. Ever. We've even got a gluten free offering! Black Velvet cakes are a way to have your (not) Guinness and eat it too.
Moving away from booze, if we must, let's talk potatoes. Colcannon is a perfect combination of buttery carbs and cabbage, ideal for lining your stomach ahead of a night of celebrating. Morning after, some potato scones, or farls, will put you on the road to recovery.
So, however you celebrate, Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig!
