Right, I've decided it's officially cold enough to do December hibernating.
Not properly like the animals, obviously (as if I'd sleep through Advent calendar month!) but on those nights when you've had a terribly long day, you are now completely allowed to curl up with soothing black and white movies, a hipflask full of blackberry rum and a plate of winter spice and whisky brittle shortbread.
The icing on this very snuggly, indulgent cake is the perfect festive onesie, and I've been on the hunt for one - for all our sakes. I've yet to meet an adult that can't be won over by a garment that keeps you toasty from your head to your toes, so these should also make the perfect I'm-sorry-I-ate-all-your-Advent-Calendar-chocolates gift. Or, you know, Christmas present.
I'm afraid Next don't win any prizes for subtlety with this reindeer all-in-one, but the mink-and-pink design just looks too comfy to resist. It's £34.
When it comes to festive patterns, this grey Christmas print onesie from River Island has one of the absolute best designs I've found if you'd rather keep your Christmassy print on the more tasteful side. You can pick one up for £30.
If I were a bit richer, or if I won exactly £149.99 on the pools, I would head straight to ASOS and nab this gorgeous onepiece Lillehammer onesie. The pinkness just adds to the warm-and-cosiness in my view, but if it's a bit too girly you can also pick up the design in navy.
If you're a bit in love with the Lillehammer one but are about to throw a massive strop because you can't afford it (as I did) then fear not! Boohoo have the solution in the form of this utterly lovely Ruby Reindeer onesie. It's supersoft fleece, plus it has great big white pompoms (hooray for pompoms!) - and the best part is it's the cheapest of the lot at £25. I think I have my winner.
Lastly, if you're looking for something less festive, I have found a favourite I couldn't resist showing you. Sick of reindeers? How about zebras: River Island come up trumps again with a pink zebra patterned onesie for £30. I think I might have to pick this one up ready for January.
Are you as in love with onesies as I am? What's your design of choice? Let us know in the comments.

Primark had penguin ones for £12 last time I looked, and they have feet too!
ReplyDeleteOhmygosh, penguins?! Oh, Primark, I am so there.
DeletePenguin feet?
DeleteBut how is the bathroom situation resolved. My bathroom is cold cold cold, and I'll have to get almost nekkid to go for a wee...
ReplyDelete...and for that reason, I'm out.
I totally agree with little macaroon!!! You could get frostbite where you really don't want frostbite!!!
DeleteI'm probably just sulking because I'm the height of a child and don't want to give in to buying a child size onesie :P
Ah, see - this is my main dilemma too. But I just love onesies so much! I think I may need to devise some kind of official Bathroom Jumper for these tricky situations.
DeleteHaha, Emmyw: I have a friend who is of similar height, and she has managed to get her hands on a The Muppets onesie from the teen range in New Look! I had a look for them online with no joy but I've seen them in-store recently if you're interested. ;)
So APPARENTLY, my friend informs me, some onesies come with what is delicately called a "drop seat flap" for bathroom use. I'll leave that with you.
DeleteConvenience flaps.
DeleteDo you sleep in them? If so you must wear pants with them right? Otherwise things could get all kinds of unhygienic right?
ReplyDeleteI used "right?" a little too much there. I have seriously pondered this for a while though and come up with not a thing.
DeleteI guess it depends on personal preference, but I'd definitely wear pants! I like my pants.
DeletePants are vital! Pants under ordinary pjs too. You just feel more ...secure. I don't like to feel vulnerable in the nether regions, and convenience flaps surely make you all sorts of vulnerable. .. Laura x
DeleteI'm thinking these are PERFECT for home working in bed on horrible freezing cold grey days.
ReplyDeleteI love onesies, or rather the idea of them. However I have the opposite problem to you Emmyw....I just can't get them with a long enough body. The resulting problem is unpleasant for both the wearer and anybody you are foolish enough to let see you in your too short onesie. Primark ones are hopeless, and onepiece although longer and nappy like are ridiculously expensive for what is essentially a babygrow.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody have any recommendations for us tall girls? I want to be able to chill in a festive onesie when I have eaten so much turkey and cheese that none of my other clothes fit......
jack wills have a nice-looking gents stripy one that looks quite long, and is in quite sombre colours (which I personally think is essential when one is dressed as a 6ft baby!)
DeleteI'm tall and I have the same problem.. went to M&S, they have some lovely ones on sale at the moment!
DeleteThe link to the river island one doesnt work and can't find it on their website :(
ReplyDeleteIf a link breaks, it's usually because the piece has sold out. Sorry, Emily!
