Win! A Made in England rolling pin from Bodie & Fou
On the 11th day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me! A ceramic rolling pin from Kathleen Hills!
It's our penultimate Christmas competition so we made sure that we picked something really lovely from our friends at Bodie & Fou (although to be honest, everything in their shop is gorgeous and has us swooning). Our pick for this comp is a gorgeous Made In England rolling pin by Kathleen Hills. Once you've made your brilliant pastry creation, just roll the stamp over it to give it an extra special touch.
Want to win? Just tell us in the comments below what Christmas treats you're baking this year. Have you been making our mince pie fudge, or are you going to try and make some Christmas sugar cookies? Maybe you fancy making little gingerbread houses. ReplyDeleteI'm making fudge this year! Dark choc and pistachio nut, after 8 mint fudge and malteasers fudge! Made ginger cookies last night but we ate them all so I have to make more!

ReplyDeleteNot being a bakist, I'm usually much better at consuming than producing - but you've tempted me - this year I have 2 of your printed recipes to take away with me for Christmas week, and hope to work miracles - Christmas Sugar Cookies and the Chocolate Ganache Pie...

ReplyDeleteI am making sugar cookies, voodoo doll gingerbread men ( i know, but they are very cute and you can see by my name very appropriate) and disconbobulated gingerbread men!! I am going to Australia in a couple of months for two years on assignment and would LOVE to have this rolling pin to mark my pastries!!

ReplyDeleteI've some mincemeat sitting in the boiling cupboard ready to make mince piew with crumble topping, Christmas cake is nicely fed, and I'll be making a maple syrup cheesecake for Christmas eve. Yum!

ReplyDeleteooh this year my baking starts on Wednesday for three days, and we are going to have chocolate and peanut biscotti, buttery shortbread, snickerdoodles, chocolate chip cookies and delia's sausage rolls (as requested by my other half). :)

Thrice weekly batches of Christmas morning muffins from nigella Christmas. Officially our taste of Christmas 2012. They're about 5 minutes in preparation, but will require at least 5 months post-festive diet (especially in the quantities I can inhale)!!

ReplyDeleteI have homemade mincemeat left over from last year which will be nice and alcoholic now (might add a bit more Brandy for good luck!)so lots of mince pies,a big Christmas pudding,gingerbread men and shortbread... Yummy! x
ReplyDeleteI've been attempting to make homemade pies of every kind, but as I don't actually own a rolling pin I've been using an empty champagne bottle on the pastry. Sounds fabulous, not really that effective..!
ReplyDeleteI tried the Gingerbread Mug Houses and was so proud when they worked :) It was the first time making gingerbread and I've been told I have to make gingerbread men for the 'hamper gifts' now too! I just need to stock up on edible glitter...
ReplyDeleteThere will be lots of Lebkuchen in my house this year! They are so yummy and easy to make - even if I cheat a little bit, as we cannot use icing sugar.
ReplyDeleteSome pistachio and orange stollen, a Yule Log (because a Christmas pudding just doesn't have enough chocolate in!) and a Christmas cake with enough brandy in to render the eater over the legal driving limit with one slice *hic*
ReplyDeleteOoooh, oooh, oooh. So far i've made cranberry and pistachio biscotti (it's meant to be for gifts, but i might have nibbled a bit...), chilli chocolate truffles, sea salted chocolate truffles, a gingerbread house, gingerbread shapes for the tree, christmas cake, spiced apple and pecan cake for the strange christmas cake haters; and jars and jars of homemade mincemeat which i'm still inventing things to use it in- so far mince pies, palmiers and slicey things which look like they might fall apart. I do love Christmas baking- you might be able to tell? That rolling pin would get an awful lot of use.

ReplyDeleteThis year I have made my first ever mince pies - I've always relied on Mum previously but at the grand old age of 24 I decided it was time to DIY - made the pastry from scratch and everything! Problem is, I'm now too scared to do a second batch in case the first was just beginner's luck...

ReplyDeleteSo far I've made gingerbread star biscuits with the little one, chocolate cupcakes (iced snowflakes on the top and clementine butter icing made them Christmassy!) and this week I'm going to attempt stollen - first time baking with yeast 'n all so fingers crossed!

ReplyDeleteIn this jolly period I am keeping the house stocked in festive shaped biscuits and Christmassy topped fairy cakes. One of the many things on my 'to make' list to is a Tunis cake -a copy of a good old retro childhood favourite from the long-gone McVities - there's a blast from the past ........ and so how lovely it would be to win a vintage-style piece of gorgeousness.

ReplyDeleteSo far I've made a Christmas Cake, Mini Christmas Cakes, Mince pies (with my own home-made mincemeat), a Christmas buffet for 20 (including blinis, and spinach and ricotta pie), I'm also yet to make rum and champagne truffles, some christmas fudge, as well as cinammon cookies, choc chip cookies, and a gingerbread house!!!!!! Thank God I finish law school tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteSausage Rolls (eaten piping hot), Mince Pies some with pastry star lids some with icing tops, Christmas Cornflake wreaths gone off to Daughter's Christmas party today, Christmas Tree Bakes - brownies baked in cases topped with a strawberry- covered in green icing then sprinkles and edibkle glitter, star biscuits and a Yule Log still to come. PS does the rolling pin leave a clear imprint on a forehead of an errant Husband if my Christmas spirit runs low?

This year I'll be making gingerbread men that aren't men but xmas trees. Shortbread stars that are actually stars.

I really want to make the little gingerbread houses you showed us recently. But that is only if I get finished at the sewing machine in time, oh, and put the internet down too.

I've been making Hot Choc Cupcakes, cinder toffee, fudge lots of flavours but rum & raison is our fav! Christmas pud bomb, butter biscuits, cranberry & pistachio biscuits. Few! Only mince pies to go!

ReplyDeleteGift-wise, I've whipped up a batch of beetroot and ginger chutney (my family, me included, are cheese fiends so anything to accompany it is always a winner) and I've got some Sluttery Limoncello maturing in the cupboard.

ReplyDeleteA lovely friend gave me some lebkuchen spices so I will be experimenting with those to make some hopefully amazing gingerbread. Also some mince pies and the made in England print would be amazing so I could send them back to France with my boyfriend to show the French we have great baked treats!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm making Makowiec (poppyseed cake) as this is a tradition in my family. Although I'm sticking to the traditional Polish recipe, I've decided to throw caution to the wind and stir things up and rebel by using a Hungarian design. Hey, it's Christmas, I'm up for a challenge!
