Check it out! Super-fancy 7/8 trousers

I absolutely adore check. It's fabulous - I've got an ancient houndstooth pencil skirt that, like so much of my wardrobe, belonged to my mum in the 80s.

I'm also massively intrigued by 7/8 trousers. I know they are fairly old hat by now, and that fashion people were wearing them two years ago, but it took me 10 years to branch out into heels, for goodness sake, and about 15 to dare to try wedges. And don't talk to me about how long it took to get me into skinny jeans! (I am never getting out of them, FYI).

Both the check trews I've picked have something a little different going on. I love the high, contrast waist on these ASOS monochrome check pair, and the fact you could probably colour in all the squares if you got bored. They're £45 in sizes 6 to18.

And, of course, something for the tall girls among you. I saw these 'puppytooth' trousers in store the other day and they were fabulous. I wasn't sure about the length at the time, but I'm going to give them a bash. I've been wanting a pair of proper cigarette trousers for ages, and again, I like the high waist.

So, while I embrace 7/8 trousers, tell me about the trends you've (nervously, belatedly) embraced and make me feel better about being so behind the curve.

  1. I never touched a maxi dress until last summer. And then I a leopard print one and more or less lived in it. Roll on sunshine so I can break it out again!
