Win! A table lamp from Hunkydory Home

On the second day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me... a beautiful handmade lamp from Hunkydory Home!

We always feel like Christmas is coming when the Hunkydory Home competition goes live. This year they're giving away one of their gorgeous table lamps. The bases are handcrafted and made to order from solid wood (oak or walnut, depending on which base you choose).

The shades are also handmade and come in gorgeous colours and designs. One lucky winner will get to choose their favourite design. We really like the stars but there are loads more to choose from.

Want to win a gorgeous lamp? There are two ways for you to enter today's competition. First up, leave a comment below telling us your favourite thing about Christmas. Do you love the pigs in blankets more than anything? Or the rubbish Christmas films on Boxing Day? Maybe you love running about on Christmas Eve buying last minute presents. Share your festive cheer with us!

Because these lamps are beyond gorgeous, you'll get an extra entry for pinning one of the lamps in this piece (make sure the link in your pin goes back to this page so we can keep track). You'll only get one extra entry on Pinterest so don't go lamp crazy. Don't forget to follow us.

Good luck everyone!

Oh yawn, small print (read it). The competition will close at 11am (UK time) 4 December 2013. You must be UK based to enter, sorry you lovely overseas readers. If you're anon, your comment entry won't count and if you enter with lots of comments or a barrage of tweets, we'll discount all of your entries and tell you off. The winning entry will be chosen at random and you must claim your prize within 48 hours otherwise we'll pass it on to someone else. You can choose the lamp you want, but because they're made by hand you'll have to wait until after Christmas for delivery. We're not allowed to enter our own competitions but Siany loves hiding upstairs on Christmas Eve wrapping everyone's presents and drinking mulled wine.

  1. my favourite thing about Christmas has got to be the run up to the big day- visiting people with Christmas cards, choosing and decorating the tree, making mince pies- I love it all!

  2. This year, my favourite thing has been introducing my toddler to mince pies. After an intially suspicious start, he wolfed the lot and has demanded one every 20 mins for the past 3 days. He's permanently coated in sticky, fruity goo and smells enjoyable festive at all times (also slightly of booze, but am ignoring that!)

  3. My favourite thing about Christmas is the annual family present run which involves 1 family of 5, 1 car, around 400 miles, and 5 additional families. We spend the whole day eating, drinking, laughing and deliverying presents...Its a tradition we have done every year snce I can remember and it isn't christmas in our house hold until it been done.

  5. My favourite part is christmas day. i give a box to every member of my family of freebies or winnings from the year that I've saved up.. They prefer that to the actual presents. Oh and I make most of my pressies, so seeing family enjoy what I have created is great!

  10. My favourite part is Christmas Eve, when everything calms down just for a little while and I can spend the afternoon curled up on the sofa with my boys, watching Elf, drinking mulled wine and eating Lindor. Even (occasionally) sharing chocolate with the kids... Then bedtime arrives and it all goes mental again!

  11. My favourite thing about Christmas is spending extra cuddle time with mood lighting on the sofa with my lovely Husband, especially as this year is the first Christmas he's my husband!

  12. Easy peasy the best thing about Christmas is all the time you get to spend with your family without any other pulls on your time. That and the fact you can wear pjs for an entire day if you want to and no one will complain!

  13. My favourite thing about Christmas is relaxing with the family, eating too much and drinking too much. Also love making Pigs in Blankets on Christmas Eve.

  14. My favourite thing about Christmas is Christmas Eve drinks - Christmas Eve is always hectic in the day with all the organising but once we do the Santa/reindeer stuff and get the girls off to bed, it's time to sit down with a very large drink (or a few) and feel a wee bit festive :)

  15. I love Christmas! I love the festive films, giving presents and spending time with family. My absolute favourite thing is that on Christmas morning my mum does a treasure hunt for my sisters and I to find our sacks from Santa, complete with clues and riddles. We look forward to it every year (and I'm nearly 30)! :-)

  16. It's is our Christmas tradition that I love. Father Christmas presents in the morning and then other gifts after lunch. Even at the age of 30+ I still get over excited to see that Santa has called!!

  17. Favourite thing about Christmas? I love my epic Christmas Eve brekkie and walk around Windsor with my Mum. Sounds silly, but it makes the season magical and I love having the time for just me and my Mum to chill.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My favourite thing is Doctor Who! I also like getting a nice outfit to wear on Christmas day - it was my favourite thing about Christmas as a child, we always used to get a new party dress.

    ReplyDelete
  19. My favourite thing about Christmas is Buck's fizz for breakfast - it just feels so incredibly decadent!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. One of my favorite things about Christmas is the fact that it gives you more motivation to meet up with old friends that you may not necessarily see otherwise. That and the mulled wine.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I love sorting out the Turkey on Christmas morning before anyone else is up, just me, a large bird and two salivating Springer Spaniels ;)

  23. This year the thing I'm most looking forward to (and therefore my favourite thing) is five days with family; open fires, cats, and all the things that make me feel great and safe. The never fails.

  24. Simple; my two year old daughter! She will make this Christmas extra special...the mince pies and mulled wine play their part too

  26. Sprinkling Reindeer food in the garden with my little boy on Christmas eve :) so sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've taken a vow this Christmas I'm not getting in my car FOR ANYTHING. Every year I spend most of the day driving back and forth from relatives or driving people here, there and everywhere... not this year, no siree! Though, if I am staying in all day, I could do with a snazzy new lamp to eat mince pies by :D

    ReplyDelete
  28. I love feasting at Christmas espcially as it lasts for several days!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's got to be seeing people open the presents I've given them - hopefully if I've chosen well it's a really special moment!

  34. My grampy's wind-inducing stuffing. First Christmas without him this year :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. Boxing day is the greatest! Chilling out with a plate of bubble & squeak and cold turkey and a nice tipple or two. Kids are busy with their new toys. Not a care in the world! Pass the After Eights please!

  36. I love waking up and being excited for the day to come. You can't beat that fuzzy warm feeling.

  37. I love EVERYTHING about Christmas... decorations, cheesey jumpers, cheesey music, festive films, lots of yummy cheese, presents, my annual traditional bottle of Bailey's, putting together my annual Christmas quiz... it's all great. I completely regress to childhood. The best thing, though, is being with all my loved ones and seeing everyone all happy :) x

  39. I love winding my children up to even greater fever pitch by shutting the bedroom door and rustling tissue paper, rattling boxes, etc, so that they can hear and start trying to work out what it is that I'm 'wrapping up'. I only do the real wrapping up when they're out of the house so that there's no way they can wander in!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm trying to either hand make all my presents this year or buy handmade. I'm currently scouring Pinterest to get ideas for gifts-which is enjoyable at the best of times, but even more so when mulled wine and minces pies are involved!

  46. The best part of Christmas to me is seeing the smiles on people's faces as they receive an unexpected gift, pass a pretty shop window, or a see Christmas tree decorated by children. It's about getting back to the happy, hopeful spirit of Christmas and sharing with others.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The nights drawing in, the smell of the Christmas tree when you open the front door, Salted Caramel latte's from Starbucks in the red cup, my family laughing out of control at Christmas cracker jokes (that are not even funny), the satisfying feeling you get when you look out of the window and you know it's freezing outside and you're stood in pj's toasty and warm, getting to hug my siblings that I only normally ever get to see on Skype, waking up on Christmas day so excited I could burst and realising you never really grow up! p.s Love the lamps! xx

  48. Favourite Christmas thing is ringing church bells... I do it the rest of the year as well but since my parents and grandparents etc are bellringers as well it's a tradition that has happened for my whole life, and unlike the rest of the year I really feel you are calling people to church as the church is PACKED when we descend from the tower into the warm, friendly church below :)

  53. I love the lights brightening up every dark corner - on the streets, in the shops, brightening up the deepest bit of winter. As I live in Glasgow, the best of all is the sight of twinkling Christmas trees in the bay windows of the lovely old tenement blocks. Such a cheering sight.

    ReplyDelete
  54. My favourite bit about Christmas has to be having a few days just to relax with family and friends, eat too much and go for long walks just to burn off all that turkey and Xmas pudding

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love getting out my Grandma's old Christmas decorations, including 3 beautiful wise men my mum made when she was 17.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Christmas Eve. with too much to do. Mince pie making with my Mum to the nine lessons and carols. Putting up the christmas tree (yes we do that on christmas eve). Mulled wine making (smoking bishop absolutely the best recipe around) and now my Matey's new tradition of putting out a boot for Father Christmas...just in case he swings by....

    ReplyDelete
  57. The chaos of Christmas... people, noise, food, wrapping paper everywhere... not getting out of your p-j's til lunchtime... over doing the chocolates and then the silence as everyone tries to digest it all as they watch some Christmassy TV.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My favourite thing about Christmas is the cheesy movies. Home Alone is my all time favourite. This year, I realised there were whole movie channels dedicated to showing Christmas movies 24hrs a day! I've been watching them A LOT. The quality is usually questionable...oh ok, VERY questionable....but I love them :-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. My favourite thing is being able to potter and not run around. Make a yule log whilst the afternoon is filled with mulled wine, a log fire and film watching. Perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Best thing about Christmas is being able to spend time with family and the traditional long walk down the beach (regardless of weather/temperature!) after Christmas dinner to walk off all the good food :-)

    ReplyDelete
  61. My favourite part is giving presents on Christmas day and Boxing day. Love it when you get a surprise present just right!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Mulled wine, mulled cider, mulled spaniels. Slipper socks and expensive candles. This year we're hosting for the first time which is terrifying. When I was younger we'd go up to the stables to feed and muck out first thing before the mayhem started. The quiet munching of the horses and the smell of bran mash and slightly gone off carrots was always the best start to Christmas day and one I hope I'll eventually get back to.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Waking up on Christmas morning to find my stocking filled at the end of my bed!

    ReplyDelete
  64. The best thing is having a justifiable excuse to do nothing but sit watching Christmas TV and stuffing your face all day long :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I thought I'd replied to this already, but oh well...

My favourite bit about Christmas is getting to spend time with my family, because we're now quite scattered across the country and don't see each other as often as we'd like. In particular it really makes me smile watching my nephews (aged 6 and 3, which always makes them sound like they're for sale in a Victorian market) get caught up in things like writing letters to Father Christmas and leaving out a mince pie and a glass of sherry - why is it always sherry? - and a carrot for Rudolph, and discovering the magic of Christmas as a kid again through them. Bit sickly I know but it's true!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Despite the fact I am 26, my dad still sneaking in to my room to put my stocking at the end of my bed - and still pretending to be asleep!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Spending time at home with everyone I love ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  68. My favourite thing about Christmas is planning the menu and doing all the cooking for my mum and dad. I like to spoil them and prove to my mum that she does like sprouts... if only when I cook them :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Eating the last chocolate in my advent calendar-especially when it's a big one!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I love spending Christmas with my family best of all, especially now we're all scattered across the UK plus dressing up my grown up children in onesies and making them wear them all day long!

  72. Christmas eve, decorating the christmas tree at my mum's house and helping the kids put out treats for santa and rudolph! Magical. :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. My favourite thing about Christmas is seeing my mum and dad who live 250 miles away. My mum has always continued to buy me and my dad, and now my husband, Lego for Christmas and she insists we build it all over the festive period. Sadly she passed away just over 3 weeks ago but she had already organised the lego and we will be building it for her. xx

  74. Christmas carols.... I don't sing in a choir any more, and I really miss singing the descants to carols. I have to say, reading about everyone's Christmases each year in comments on here is becoming a favourite thing too. Starting to feel Christmassy already! Pinned the lamps to my "House Inspiration" board....

    ReplyDelete
  75. My favourite thing about Christmas is that point on Christmas eve when everyone has arrived and everything is ready, and you can sit and relax and get excited about the big day. With a snowball, of course! And the Now Christmas album playing :-)

    ReplyDelete
  76. My favourite thing about Christmas is snuggling up by the fire under warm blankets and watching David Attenborough with the family.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I love all the kitschy deorations...bring on the glitter!

    ReplyDelete
  78. My favourite thing is that deep breath of calm on Christmas morning, everyone else is just about to wake up and you can claim 5 minutes to yourself before all the fun starts!

    ReplyDelete
  79. The best christmas moment is drinking the smallish glass of sherry and scoffing the mince pie left out for santa, and of course nibbling the carrot left for Rudolph!

    ReplyDelete
  80. That first Christmas Left-overs sandwich

    ReplyDelete
  81. Aargh so hard to choose one thing! Ok, my absolute favourite Christmas related thing would be the Christmas tunes! Listening to Low's "Just Like Christmas" on a dark night with my tree twinkling. And this year I have festive essential oils to burn so it'll smell like Christmas

  84. My favourite things about Christmas are the fun fights with my cousin over who has the most prawns in their prawn cocktail starter and who gets more pigs in blankets. Sadly now he lives in Australia so I taunt him with pictures of me eating them over Facebook! :)

  85. I love being all snuggled up on the couch with all our extra winter throws and cushions, drinking mulled wine, eating lots of treats and watching total cheeseball film Jingle All The Way!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I've already done my favourite thing - using loads and loads of beer to make tons of Christmas cakes and Christmas puddings. Oh gosh, some of the beer made its way into my mouth, too. Naughty beer.

  89. My favourite thing is grazing all day long and drinking Bucks Fizz and Kir Royale with the family, then playing drunk charades at the table because we're all too stuffed to move.

So basically, eating and drinking lots and lots with my family :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. I love hiding the presents that I've bought, digging them out and trying to remember who each one is for. And I love the relaxation/food coma that comes after the excitement of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hands down the best thing about Christmas has to be spending time with friends and family enjoying great food and drink together. Well, that and egniting the Christmas Pud which still makes me giddy as an adult!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Reading The Night Before Christmas to our little boy, and this year to our newby little girl too! And, getting into our pjs on Christmas night, sitting with a bowl of left-over chestnut stuffing and a glass of port!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. My favourite thing is sausage rolls for breakfast! Not something I would consider at any other time of year, but hot sausage rolls while waiting for the grandparents to arrive and we can do presents was always brilliant. So much so that I have them on my own even though I have nobody to wait for!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Seeing everyones houses with christmas lights on display - well most of them anyway ;)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Singing the final verse of Oh Come All Ye Faithful just as the clock strikes midnight - I just fill up with a massive mix of contentment, excitement and general happiness.

Bubbles for breakfast is also pretty good too!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I can't decide between the mountains of bread sauce (best sauce by miles, we get through gallons of the stuff) or the traditional family Boxing Day walk through the woods, all wrapped up, crunching all the frosty leaves. No, wait, bread sauce wins hands down!

    ReplyDelete
  97. My favourite thing about Christmas is celebrating the traditions of the German side of my family - mostly eating Lebkuchen and opening one present on Christmas Eve!

    ReplyDelete
  98. My Favourite thing about christmas is decorating the christmas tree! I love choosing all the decorations and that the tree always smells all musty from being in the loft all year- That smell signifies the start of the festive season!

    ReplyDelete
  99. My favourite thing about christmas is the unashamed eating and the moment where girls take off their waist belts and the boys undo the button on their jeans! Always know it's been a good christmas when that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  100. My favourite thing is putting on my out of office message and heading home on the train mentally changing the lyrics of 'Driving Home for Christmas' to 'Training Home for Christmas'.

    ReplyDelete
  101. All the lovely smells; fresh pine, cinnamon, mulled wine, Clementines and the crisp snappy tang of a new book.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I love prosecco for breakfast and my nan's roast potatoes for lunch. I'd quite happily have nothing else all day :-)

    ReplyDelete
  103. My favourite thing about Christmas is the family argument when we want to watch a Die Hard and my dad insists it's not a Christmas movie because he's forgotten it's set on Christmas Eve. He always says that Die Hard 2 is Christmassy, not the first one. And then we watch it and he relents. We go to through this every year.

Being an expat Australian a cold christmas is super exciting! I will be sporting my Primark christmas jumper that says 'Nice Balbuls'. I hope everyone gets into Christmas jumpers this year, not just the overly keen Australian...

  106. The best thing about Christmas this year is having my cheeky little 1 yo nephew around and watching him discover (and possibly destroy) the tree, decorations, music, food and presents for the first time!

  107. I think for me it's making the Christmas cake - since we were little my sister and I have always made the Christmas cake with Tijuana Christmas on an LP in the background, much licking of spoons and at the end everyone who is there (all the family have to gather, or it isn't right!) has a stir and makes a wish. I've travelled 400 miles once for the day to make this happen - it's that important! The other thing I love is the smell of it cooking!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I love spending time with family and arguing over silly games that no one understands the rules of!
