Cocktail Hour: The King's Ginger

New booze to try makes me happy indeed. I have been itching to get my hands on a bottle of The King's Ginger for months now. It's made by those clever folk at Berry Bros & Rudd, using a recipe that dates back to 1903. Apparently it was used to revive King Edward VII on his morning carriage rides as this cute little cartoon will tell you.

What does it taste like? It packs more of a punch than I was expecting. Like a booze version of eating crystalised ginger. Sharp, tangy, really quite addictive. It will taste excellent over ice, or mixed with apple and brandy in a cocktail. It probably won't be long before I've added it to cake. Or poured it over ice cream. It's such a pleasant tipple, one that I wish I'd bought myself months ago. It's really very tasty and I can't imagine it lasting very long at all.

You can buy a bottle for around £17.99 and it's available at The Whiskey Exchange.
