Cocktail Hour: The D'Artagnan

I can't help think of D'Artagnan without thinking of that little guy in the picture. Dogtanian is the coolest of all dog-based cartoons. Droopy has nothing on this guy. Pluto? Forget it. Neither of them have a swashbuckling sword. And he doesn't have that annoying Scrappy Doo sidekick which is always a bonus.

Where were we? Oh, yes. Cocktails. The D'Artagnan. One of the very few cocktails to specifically call for Armanac. It's like a cross between a mimosa and the classic champagne cocktail. It's not a strong cocktail, but it's got enough of a kick so you'll be doing Dogtanian impressions before you've even finished your drink. One for all, and all for one!

You'll need:
  • 10ml Armanac
  • 10ml Grand Marnier
  • 15ml orange juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar syrup (or superfine sugar which will keep your bubbles fizzy)
  • Champagne
  • Orange peel
Shake it!

Pour the Armanac, Grand Marnier, sugar syrup and orange juice into a mixing glass and stir. Strain into a champagne flute and top up with bubbly. Garnish with orange peel and settle down to watch Dogtanian cartoons.

  2. I remember being given a Dogtanion pencil case with fibre-tipped felt pens in when I was little - I received it with the kind of excitement I think maybe you can only feel when you're 8 (without the aid of intoxication of some kind).

  3. Ah, Dogtanian. I love Dogtanian. Now I'm feeling all nostaligic. Cities of Gold anyone or 80 days around the world?

  4. Wah! I was just blogging about my favorite cartoon myself.

I shall be forewarding this recipe to my musketeer chums for the weekend!
