I love to travel but I hate feeling like a clueless tourist, trying to surreptitiously sneak out my free map from the hotel while pretending I really do know where I'm going. Even in my home city, my A-Z is creased and battered from being quickly shoved back into my bag for shame of looking like I don't know what I'm doing (and, er no, I'm afraid I'm not technologically able to do that on my phone just yet).
Trying to read a soggy map in the rain, refold it the right way in a gale force wind, or finding out that bar you were looking for has got worn away in one of its creases: just a few of the challenges facing the geographically challenged in a foreign land. Like a friendly local guiding you along the way, I present an answer to future way-finding worries, the crumpled city maps.
As the name suggests they're designed to be crumpled. Entering a cool looking shop? Just screw it up and throw it into your pocket. Need to get to the nearest Metro station in a downpour? They're 100% waterproof. The maps cover eight world cities, including London, New York, Paris and several other city break destinations of choice.
At £12 each, I feel like these might change the way I navigate a city. At the very least it means I'll have to pull out the "I'm not a tourist and I know exactly what way I'm going decisive look" a few less times each trip. You can buy them from The Lollipop Shoppe.
