I've got a massive soft spot for Wales. My parents have lived there for the last few years (despite my name, I'm not actually Welsh). Being a Shropshire girl, most of our summer holidays were on the Welsh coast. I still haven't forgotten watching my parents put a tent up in the pouring rain while my brother and I hid in the car laughing at them.
OK, so camping in the pouring rain doesn't sound like much fun (we drove home half an hour later, but I've got to give props to my parents for giving it a shot). But Hafod Glan Gwy looks gorgeous any time of the year.
Near the Brecon Beacons, this tiny retreat sleeps two and looks like it's the most romantic place. You get gorgeous river views (the otter-spotting potential is pretty high apparently) and your little terrace and private patio are perfect if it's sunny out.
It's not exactly the largest of places, but don't worry about that. The bed is ready made and folds up back into a cupboard so you've got more space. Not that you'll want to get out of it if it's raining.
Doesn't it look pretty at night? I can't think of anywhere more perfect to spend a weekend, and it's just £285 for three nights from unique travel company Sheepskn. That's a bargain for what might be the most peaceful place in Wales.
