Win! ALL of our 12 Days of Christmas presents!

On the 12th day of Christmas, Domestic Sluttery gave to me 12 days of Christmas presents all to keep!

Yep, you read that right. As our final competition and Christmas present to you, we're giving away every single one of our presents to one lucky reader. So in true Blind Date style, here's a quick reminder of what we're giving away.

A Hunkydory Home lampshade, a case of wine from Molly Brown's Wine List, a Cocomale teapot, a fully decorated Christmas tree from Dobbies, a gold ring from Accessories Online, a Merchant Gourmet cooking kit, a Paris print from Bodie and Fou, a sampler from Miso Funky, some organic porridge and bowls from Dorset Cereals, a bunny vase from Hannah Zakari and a dress from Aspire style.

Wow. Just wow.

This is the biggest prize we've ever given away, worth around £500. It means you'll quite literally have Christmas on your doorstep (not all at once though, we're not sure we can fit all that through the letter box). We're so thrilled to be able to give away all of these nice things so huge thanks to everyone who has been involved with our Christmas competitions!

So what do you have to do to win?

Just tell us in the comments how you're spending Christmas. Tell us what you're doing to make this year special. Make us smile with your Christmas plans!

We'll pick a winner at random and as always, you'll get an extra entry for retweeting (only once!) But this time, because it's an extra special prize, you'll also get an extra entry for blogging about it too. Just pop a link in the comments if you blog about us! We'll draw a winner at random and then announce tomorrow who is the lucky winner of all this swag. Either that, or we'll be divvying it up amongst ourselves.

Good luck!

The small print:
The competition will close at midday on 17th December. The winner must live in the UK as well, sorry overseas readers, but them's the breaks. You must also leave a name as well to make sure we know who you are! We're not allowed to enter our own competitions, but I'm spending Christmas day with family, in a tiny little village in North Wales and hoping for snow! We wish we could enter our competitions, but quite honestly, we've got nowhere to put all of this wonderful stuff.

  1. Christmas will be spent yet again away from my family so I'm arranging for a big basket of cookies to be delivered to my family and I'll call them and let them know that for all the sweetness and joy they brought to my life, I sent the cookies to sweeten theirs while I'm away.

Awww... see... you've gone and made me all teary-eyed at missing my nephew's first Christmas. The cute little guy is not even one year old yet!

  2. Me, me, me, me, me.

If I win I shall be spending Christmas staring at that rabbit vase (or feeling good about myself for giving it to a frien. If I don't, if the gods above are so cruel, then, most likely I'll just tease the pets and make them compete for my affection (as demonstrated by dinner treats). A mad cat woman has to start somewhere.

  4. Oooo, I can enter this one.

Tomorrow morning I'm flying off to Kenya to go and visit my parents. It's the first time I'll have had Christmas with them for 5 years and I just can't wait.

I'm not sure on the exact details but I think our Christmas will pretty much be spent outside in the beautiful sunshine. Probably drinking. Quite a lot.

See you in the new year!

  5. This year is going to a quiet xmas for us, Hubbie has had his hours reduced, I dont work anymore, long term sick, But you know what. Its been the least stressful xmas i have known!! Kids know not alot of money so not to expect big presnsts. I just feel so much more relaxed about it all, and think what will be will be!

  6. This year my fiance's mum is having treatment for ovarian cancer so we're taking over the christmas day celebrations and making it nice and relaxing for her. It's our first year in our new house and hosting Christmas dinner! Eek!

Hope it holds out :) also first christmas for our new puppy, I'm trying to sneek a little Christmas jumper on him but husband won't stand for it!! @mrsabakes

  9. This will be our first Christmas as a family of three! Our little boy Oliver is now 6 days old, so on Christmas Eve the three of us are going to sit in bed together and read The Night Before Christmas.

  10. I'm really looking forward to Christmas this year as we will be sharing the day with our first grandchild - our gorgeous granddaughter who is just six months old and already loving all the lights and decorations. She may not be old enough to understand Christmas this year but she's certainly already experiencing the joy of the season.

  11. Both my family and my husband's live halfway across the world so most Christmases we spend alone in our flat. As a turkey would be far too much for the two of us our tradition is to have a Christmas brunch of seafood (oysters, lobster, smoked salmon and our once-a-year-treat of caviar) and copious amounts of champagne, then spend the rest of the day in a blissful drunken stupour! Hopefully this year will be extra special as there'll be a large package under the tree from you lovely domestic sluts to open....

  12. Still undecided, with nine days to go! Family are all on the other side of the world, so Dear Husband and I will either be snuggled up together at home, eating homemade mince pies, or celebrating with other orphaned Antipodean friends (again, eating homemade mince pies)...

  13. Christmas will be spent back home with my parents and grandmother. Since I've had to stay away for longer than usual, we're having two Christmas Eves so I can share in the preparations!

  14. Yesterday my Mummy and i made our Yummy food list for her to buy on Friday. Next Wednesday she will be packing up her little car and tootling her way up the motorway for four hours to my house. Thursday while i'm a work she is going to prepare our Christmas lunch and then...oh then...on Friday we will eat food all day long and drink special reserve wine all day long and sit with our feet up all day long and watch rubbish telly all day long and snuggle on the sofa under blankets all day long and just relax and be happy that we are together for Christmas

  15. I am driving home for Xmas on Saturday! I cannot wait! I am looking forward to seeing my parents in Cheltenham and walking the dogs in the cotswolds. My puppy Alfi has a Xmas collar, with tinsel on it!

Bring on mulled wine and mince pies (I have yet to eat one!)

  16. This Christmas I'll be spending lots of time with my parents. My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer this year so I'm going to spoil him rotten with lots of presents and lots of nice things to eat. On Christmas Eve we'll be singing carols in the centre of my little village, followed by mulled wine and a midnight service at the local church. Christmas morning will be spent with bucks fizz in one hand and a crispy bacon sandwich in the other. Follwed by presents, the biggest and best Christmas lunch ever and a walk in the snow (wishful thinking!.

    Merry Christmas!!

I'll be spending xmas in my parents new house- the first family home we've owned since I was 7 so very exciting! My youngest sister is only 7 so still does the whole santa thing, which means we'll be woken up crazy early, then I plan on spending as much of the day in my PJs as possible, eating myself silly.

  18. This christmas is as busy as the rest but even more so as my sister gave birth to lovely twins a few weeks ago. In the day me and my mum are going to her to cook her and her partner christmas dinner. In the evening I shall be seeing my boyfriend and his family. Boxing day it's back to my sisters but this time with my dad for our second christmas day, and the 27th is my nan's family christmas party and my boyfriends mum's birthday. So celebrating all round :0)

  19. This year me and the dog are spending Christmas eve at my parents' house, which will be great because Dad is home from working abroad and brother is home from uni, and my mum and sister will be there. Then we are all going down the road to my grandparents house, like the Christmas days of yore, and spending the day there. On Boxing Day we shall do the tradional going out meal.

  20. Well, we're doing our travelling up the country to see my family before Xmas this year so that the break actually feels like a break for a change. Then we'll be going to my partner's Mum's for Xmas day so we can eat dinner at hers. In my whole life I've cooked Xmas Day dinner only once!

  21. Hello Hello!

This year I'm going back home to see all of my lovely family (aka 'The Emmerdales') as they live in the middle of nowhere in a weeny little cottage - No doubt my dad will have lit up our garden path with sparkly lights so it looks like an airport runway.

I'll still be running down the stairs at the crack of dawn and will shout 'He's Been', even though I'm 24, and one of the dogs will probably steal my dads bacon sandwhich on Christmas morning, which means me and my sister will be in hysterics watching him chase the poor thing round and round the living room - well I'm hoping it happens again!

My lovely boy will be driving down to see my from Suffolk to we can spend our first Christmas Day together. And in the evening, it's time for cheese and wine/port/brandy/whiskey and a boozy sing-a-long.

Then its time to do it all over again on Boxing Day! :) Merry Christmas xxx

  22. Oh and I'm in my 50s, just in case you think that's not unusual for a 20 year old:-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Will be at home with my partner on Christmas day, just the two of us, but will be spending the day after Boxing Day with my family. Crackers are rubbish usually so I made a point of buying ones you fill yourself and have bought them all a little treat to go in their cracker. I'm cooking a vegan curry for everyone (complete with poppadoms, mango chutney, naan bread - the full works) and finishing it off with a glass of Baileys for my family. They'll be sick of turkey by then anyway, so a curry makes a nice change!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'll be spending Xmas day with my parents. We hoped we'd be finished renovating our first home by Xmas and be waking up in our very first home together but things didn't work out that way. *mope*
Instead we'll be going there for New Year's Eve. It may be a building site with no kitchen, bathroom, carpets or furniture but all we need is a blow up bed, a toaster and a bottle of fizz and we can start the new year in...style?!? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'll be at work on Christmas Eve, before going to my dad's for Christmas Dinner (Norwegian, so it's all about the 24th). Then out to the pub (hopefully) to see all the home-folk I've not seen all year.
Then 25th I'm headed down to my Mum's new place, where I'll be making another xmas dinner. Boxing day I'm cooking a gammon.
27th-28th going up north to see family members.

    Lots of travelling.
BUT... I'm not driving. Not one foot. I'm going to become a soak over the 4 days. It will start with wine on the 24th, fizz in the pub, sherry in the morning (my brother can chauffer to Mum's) more fizz upon arrival. Fizz when making dinner, wine with dinner, port after dinner, and a G+T before bed.
The aim is a happy wooze, and minimal headache. Lots of water.

  26. I'm super-excited this year as it's the first year in ages that I've had a bit of spare cash to play with, so I've been through my Christmas cookery books and made a HUGE list of stuff to make for my friends. I've a gigantic shopping list growing daily and I can't wait to get up to my elbows in flour:D

  27. Chrimbo is very hectic in our house, our middle daughter is three on Christmas Eve and my husband has his birthday on Boxing Day. Chistmas Day will be with my parents, brother and sister and their families. That will be a full house so am not sure whether to place bets on happy families or handbags at dawn - what do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm spending Christmas with Mum, dad, husband, grandad, brother, sister in law and newest addition the la famille - baby Samuel, 10 months old and getting cuter by the day. I've already eaten too many mince pies, so I hope to eat lots of fruit & veg (yeah, right!) and go for big walks through the country wearing all my jumpers all at once. Divulge in some spiced cider (dom slut's recipe!) and get squeeze in lots of snoozing in front of the fire.

    ReplyDelete
  29. This Christmas I'm trying to recapture the essence of festive times gone by.
I'm making and baking plenty of treats and decorations, forcing my Mum to go to an open air carol concert, I've already been and met some reindeers, I'm hosting a Dutch themed dinner party and making plenty of festive cocktails.

Earlier this year I learnt how to ring church bells so I've been ringing before the odd carol concert, this has definitely helped me get into the mood!

I hope I'm not too worn out by Christmas day!

  30. My family are in New Zealand, and my boyfriend's family are abroad this year, so we will be on our own. Admittedly, a Christmas without family seems a little bare. But lucky for us, a couple we're close friends with are also going to be in London for Christmas day due to changes in their own family's routine (one set of parents in Chicago, and one in Australia).
And what are close friends if not family you have merely chosen yourself? The day will be spent playing games, eating food, drinking and enjoying one of those slightly nomadic Christmases that only come once or twice in most people's lifetimes. In some ways it might the most special Christmases we've had.

  31. We are having a quiet family Christmas with a traditional Christmas dinner (except for my Baileys cheesecake for desert, yum! None of us like christmas cake or pudding). I'm looking forward to spending time together. I love Christmas morning - the only time of the year you can get away with chocolate for breakfast! - and seeing people smile when they open their presents. Receiving them is nice too of course! Particularly if they include a certain bunny vase ;). On Boxing Day though we'll probably be going up to our friends house for a big leftovers party!

  32. This year we will be heading to Kent to spend Christmas with my mum, brother and grandparents. My grandad has been ill this year so will be particularly nice to see him and have Christmas with them! Oh and how can I forget we will also be spending it with Jasper the dog!!

  33. I`ll be spending Christmas with my family. We`ll get up early Christmas morning - the kids usually wake us about 7am as they are so excited , we`ll open all their presents and then its off to the grandparents for more presents and lunch. Then home to play with all the new toys.

Thanks for the wonderful competition and Merry Christmas Xx

  34. Christmas will be strange this year, because my sister won't be at home (for the first time in 25 years!) and the last of my grandparents passed away in April. But we're keeping the festive spirit alive by spending the day with my 'second family' - my parents' best friend and her family, who my sister and I grew up with. It's going to be a huge family Christmas with tons of food and drink, and I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  35. This christmas will be special for two reasons:
    - My family has grown by two as both my sisters got married this year!
    - I've bought my mum's ginger tabby cat Carlo a Puss in Boots costume!

It doesn't get better that that, eh?!

  36. We are moving house over christmas (insane I know).

Even worse its from a furnished house to a unfurnished house!

So we are calling it the great airbed christmas!

  37. We'll be spending this year at my parents. After last year when my parents had a massive row, my sister is doing the cooking. I'll be general mopper-upper and soother of furrowed brows (distribution of alcohol may play a part). Else I'll be necking the brandy in the corner while all hell breaks loose. Thinking about it, my boyfriend's actually quite brave!

  39. This year I am spending Christmas in Egypt with my wonderful big sister who likes her holidays at christmas time and takes me with her. So christmas day will be spent being lazy on the beach and most likely fighting over whos turn it is to play the ds. Christmas evening the hotel are hosting a special christmas dinner and disco which i am sure will be fun, that is if i can stay awake long enough to enjoy the dance. i'm especially glad to eb going away this year a sit means I do not have to face my first christmas in 26 years without my beautiful cat.

  40. this christmas will be the first one that's just me and my parents, and i'm really looking forward to it! no small children sobbing, no granparents snoring through xmas films, no irritating partners who refuse to get on with their inlaws - just me, mum and dad, starting the day with chocolate and bucks fizz, then presents, cooking, gin, eating, wine, crap xmas films and more gin. mwah! fab-lous! x

  41. This Christmas will be fun! Its just the two of us this year (me & my lovely man). After walking the dog we will be starting off with smoked salmon and champagne, then we will open up the pub and serve up some Christmas cheer to our lovely customers!! In the midst of that i'll be cooking Christmas lunch for the two of us - a duck with all the trimmings which is going to be lovely. My parents are away again this year and I miss them terribly, but we will have lots of fun opening our pressies and spending the day together with lots of laughter, i can't wait.

  42. Oh Christmas! :). MMM! This year I'm going home to Malta after spending last Christmas in Denmark with my boyfriend's family...yippee! Home! This means Christmas procession and midnight mass on Christmas eve, followed by a family Christmas lunch on Christmas day + gifts :D! Ohh...can't wait to go home! (Hopefully with all these lovely gifts to share of course ;)).
    I <3 Christmas!

  43. Pick me pick me! Pleeeeease!

I'll be off to Ireland to spend Christmas with my family, unfortunately Other Half will be off to Scotland to see HIS family so we will be spending it apart. With family I will be consuming my weight in bubbly and chocolate with a bit of turkey thrown in and chucking glitter all over the place. With OH I will be having a pre-Christmas celebration this weekend - early pressies, yay! :)

  44. I'll be spending Christmas day alone with my husband, in our first Christmas together since we were married. I have no idea what we'll eat or watch or do, but I can't wait to start some new traditions just for the two of us.

To make up for 'a day off', we're seeing my folks from Monday to Wednesday, and his folks on Christmas Eve then back again for Boxing Day. Not quite as peaceful and quiet as we hoped, but then it wouldn't be Christmas without family.

    ReplyDelete
  45. We are winging it this year as it is our first Christmas in the UK with the rest of the family back in SA. So far the build-up has been loads of fun, and we hope to start a few traditions for the day on the day to make the experience as magical for our three year old as possible. We will also be doing loads of Skyping so that all the Nana's and Grandad's can see their little man . . . it's not the same as a hug, but it's better than nothing :-). Sadly there will probably be lots of tears for members of the family that are no longer with us, but we will have a drink on them and know they will be smiling down on us as well.

  47. Christmas Eve and Boxing Day I will be at work :( So I will be trying to make Christmas Day as magical and special for my 2 boys as my limited budget allows. I can't wait to see their faces on Christmas morning when they come downstairs and see what Santa has brought for them, and they check to see if Rudolph has eaten the carrot they left for him.On Christmas Eve we will be scattering 'magic reindeer food'outside the house - oats mixed with glitter! Amd on Christmas Day we will have a family dinner with grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
In the evening we will watch terrible Christmas telly and eat mince pies, and I plan to enjoy every second of the day we spend so long preparing for!

  48. I have blogged about it here: http://tinyurl.com/yafdsye

I'll be spending this Christmas very traditionally, with my family. Every last one of them lives in Northern Ireland and all of my siblings still live at home. I don't get home nearly as often as I would like - since I left teaching I have fewer holidays (although I can take them when I want, so WIN) and I have to divide them up between going home, going to Kent to see Nic's family, and doing fun things with Nic. This isn't a complaint, I actually feel very lucky that going home is a holiday in itself. I'll be home for 8 days, which will be the longest I've spent at home this year. I'll go out for spins in the car with my Daddy, watch TV and chat with my Mum, shop with my sisters and sit in companiable silence with my brother. I will have lunch in my sister's cafe, drink lots of tea and eat Tayto crisps. I'll hopefully also catch up with some old friends from home. None of this is very exciting or unique, but I love going home at Christmas because it gives me the chance to just relax and be with my family. And this time next week I'll be at home, and probably still in my pyjamas. YEEEEOOOOO!!!!

  49. This year I'm VERY excited about christmas. Having hand made all of my christmas tree decorations (it only took about 4 months.....), I'm going to be getting all my lovely pressies around it, then dishing them out to my even more lovely family and friends. I'll be making festive scotch pancakes for breakfast, and then doing the full works for christmas dinner. Then I'll probably doze for the rest of the day feeling gloriously cosy and full to the top with scrummy christmasy food! Oh, but I'll make sure I don't miss the Royal Family xmas special! x x x

I am so excited this Christmas as I am going home to my parent's house along with my fiance and my 3 brothers and their partners for a true family time celebrating my Niece's first Christmas. I can't wait to spoil her rotten and just be at home with all my family together.

  51. We will be spending Christmas Eve with my husband's family. I am originally from Poland, so the traditional food for Christmas Eve is fish - there will be lots of salmon, but no carp, as I can't stand it.
Christmas Day will be just 5 of us - 3 humans, one dog, one cat, starting with Christmas Stockings, then walk and a glass of wine with other dog owners in the park, then lovely lunch and Christmas TV.
Our friends host their annual Christmas bash on Boxing Day (that dress would be perfect!) , it is always great fun.

  52. I'm spending Christmas at home this year, and for the first time in like forever, my brother and his wife are coming home too! They found it quiet last year with it being just the two of them, so this year, I'm aiming to host a lovely, warm boisterous family Christmas, with myself, husband, our 3 fab kids, my Mum and Dad, and my Sister and niece. I will be anything but quiet!

I just love the whole Christmas spirit (not only the one you drink), and I'll be cooking a proper roastie dinner, lots of nice wine, Christmas pud - the works! Followed by some chilling out, chat and some fun.

Kids fighting over toys....Dad falling asleep....and a proper family get together. What more could you possibly want at Christmas?

This year I cant wait to see their little faces light up with joy as they see what Santa has brought them. 57. So, the men of my family are all hard working DIs, Sergeants and PCs and will be keeping the streets safe for partygoers this Christmas.

This means the women of my family (me, mum, two sisters and my niece) will be celebrating a truly girly Christmas. There will be champagne, glamour, presents, chocolate, and wholesome dog-walking followed by a much less wholesome festive chick-flick-a-thon. Can't wait!

  58. Christmas starts with my twin boys running in telling me Father Christmas has been, then dragging their stockings onto our big bed and unwrapping everything. Following this with breakfast (bucks fizz for me & OH) more presents to unwrap under the tree. Then a visit to the in-laws for yet more pressies (and hopefully more bucks fizz for me - OH is driving!). Back to ours so daddy can build all my boys' lego while I prepare dinner. My parents will arrive and I will relax (2 glasses of fizz and an opened bottle of luscious red... what do you expect?) Dinner will be devoured whilst a juicy, plump homemade pudding steams on the stove, with this we always have my grandmas rum sauce (gone, but not forgotten, her hand was always quite shaky when it came to adding the rum). After dinner we will settle down to play with the boys toys and usually end up playing trashy card games like Seven & Newmarket (are we the only family that still do this???) Once my boys are tucked up in bed again we might even have a go of their new Wii... Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night x

This is my boyfriend and mine's first Christmas in our new (still being decorated) home, so we're taking a break from stripping off bad woodchip wallpaper and gluing on skirting boards and spending it together cuddled infront of the TV watching bad television and eating everything in sight! I can't wait.

However, to be fair to both sets of parents, this weekend we're visiting my parents and grandparents up north for a mini Christmas (and my mum's yummy roast dinner- cooked at my grandparents house this year because my nanna's not been well) and then on boxing day we're visiting my boyfriend's family in Lincolnshire for ANOTHER mini Christmas. Hectic with all the driving around but worth it to get to see everyone at this time of year- I wouldn't have it any other way. Merry Christmas to all- however you end up spending it! :)

  65. This Christmas I'll be travelling back up north for the usual carnage. Trying to see a lifetime's worth of friends in four days plus all of my wonderful family.

Oh, and then after that I'll be having my London-based Christmas with my fancy man... Which is nice :-) x

  66. Domestic Sluttery

To the sluts it may concern.

As we reach the end of the 12 days of Christmas, I feel it is only right, as a dedicated 'wannabe slut' to review your most recent competition. As a whole, the scope and goals were well thought out with achievable and manageable requirements set.

Please review my valuable input below. I have itemised why each item would be much happier being sent to myself rather than any other competitor. I am aware the competition is fierce in this economy but if you review my proposal I have full faith that you will make the correct final decision.

A Hunkydory Home lampshade - to put on the head of my useless younger brother and make him stand in the corner to look like a cool new human lamp...it will also keep him out of the way.

A case of wine from Molly Brown's Wine List - Hello?? We have 15 relatives coming... This is a must have pre-dinner pick-me-up!!

A Cocomale teapot - For my grandmothers tea. It HAS to be from a teapot and she HAS to have a proper cup and saucer!!

A fully decorated Christmas tree from Dobbies - Well as most people have, we already have our tree up but I do know that my parents are 'not bothering' with a tree this year as we have all moved out but I would LOVE them to have one. It just doesn't look right.

A gold ring from Accessories Online - My bestest friend who had a christmas party dress dilemma last night needs a smile so I would (very kindly) re-donate this to her!

A Merchant Gourmet cooking kit - Ah, a gift for the boyfriend, if he is the co-chef on Christmas day then we both will need this!

A Paris print from Bodie and Fou - These are just stunning and beautiful. My bedroom needs this and I cannot disappoint the room that brings me soooo much beautiful sleepy time!

A sampler from Miso Funky - Beautifully kitsch. This would be a gift for my brothers wife who has recently discovered the joys of stitching and creating little cross stitch greetings cards!

Some organic porridge and bowls from Dorset Cereals - Fantastic for the after Christmas/return to work time!

A bunny vase from Hannah Zakari - This would be hand delivered to my friends daughter who's very own rabbit, Rebecca, has gone to 'visit' friends next door... she has been gone for a few weeks now.

The dress from Aspire style - Well after all that giving, I deserve something...right?

    xx

  67. This xmas I'll be heading back up North to Yorkshire to spend Christmas with the family. I'll be dishing out my homemade gifts (jams, chutneys, pickles) before getting started on the christmas dinner (for 15 people)!!! And then on boxing day I'm going to go to the football with my brothers...can't wait!!

  68. It'll be just the two of us this year so waking up to croissants and coffee (it's as far as I'll let him 'cook' in my kitchen these days!lol) and then cooking a full christmas dinner which should keep the 2 of us going untill well into the new year. Time to phone all the relatives and open pressies and then a couple of sherry's and a bottle of wine, a few films and some chocolates from the tin, sounds just right to me :-D

  69. This will be my baby boy's first Christmas - at 11 weeks old I'm not sure he'll have a clue what's going on but it's making it all the more magical for us! In celebration, our family is all coming to stay to make it extra special. I can't to wake up on Christmas morning and wish him Merry Christmas for the fist time :)

    Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas!

  70. My husband works as a lay clerk in a church choir, so he has to 'work' on Christmas Day. We'll get woken by the twins (probably quite early this year as they are now 2.5yrs and 'know' about Father Christmas). Himself will make us scrambled eggs with smoked salmon (Gordon Ramsay's eggs recipe) whilst the girls tear open their stockings. Hubby then goes to sing till lunchtime, we'll have a light family lunch before hubby goes off to sing AGAIN, and then we'll pile round to our neighbour's house - they are doing Christmas dinner for us (I did it for them last year) as all hubby's colleagues in the choir live around us.

HOWEVER, this could all be ruined as one of the girls has chickenpox, and its looking increasingly likely that the other one will get it just as Christmas arrives. So we may just go into hibernation...

  72. This Christmas was set to be the worst Christmas ever: my Grandma isn't well, my sister is away and it is only going to be me, my Dad and my Grandma. However, we've made a vow to ourselves not to let this ruin our day. I've been given the responsibility to cook and have been preparing for days, getting very excited about getting the chance to show off my domestic skills. Also, because we are spending it in my Grandma's sheltered housing I'm going to pop round to all the ladies having to spend Christmas on their own, hopefully spreading some Christmas cheer. Also, to top it all off we're having a second Christmas when my sister gets back! Thanks to our positivity this Christmas could go from the worst to the best!

  73. I will be attempting to get my Grandparents to sing this year's festive song - Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine. I have the song sheets printed already. ;-)

Other than that, I will be busying myself with essay writing for my Masters degree in between sloshing back large glasses of red wine and gorging on chocolate. Tis the season to get as fat as possible right?

It's all because my parents are Salvation Army officers and so work on Christmas Day serving meals to the lonely so my family have always celebrated on Boxing day... but now I'm married I get to do it twice!

We will start the day with Kir Royals and Pannetone for the adults and stockings for the boys, then present opening, dinner, a lovely walk along the river, then games and films in the afternoon and finally when the boys fall asleep we'll crack open the bottle of Pink Champagne I've been saving and toast a lovely family day.

The best bit is going to be our 2 year old's face when she see's that Father Christmas has been and left lots of presents under the tree. I'm sooooooo excited!! Happy Christmas DS! x

Then Christmas morning we're driving (in our pyjamas for reasons based in tradition) to my parents, where we'll do pressies and spend the day eating with my family. Then bubble and squeak with leftover turkey and ham and dad's chutney on boxing day at mum and dads, then back to our house to pick up Daves kids for more presents and festivities back at our own house. Looking forwards to all the snuggling on various sofas with various parents/cahldren/cats/husband with films and open fires :o)

Then my mum will go out for a few hours to see her friends and I'll look after the dinner to make sure it deosn't burn (prepared by her before she goes out as it would just be terrible if I did it!) Then we eat and this year we have English Cheesecake Company cheesecake for desert! :D Then we will sit in front of the t.v. and watch Superbad - then I'll probably go to the bf's for the rest of the evening where i'll probably be forced into playing board games by his family! 87. With numerous family members dispersed here, there and everywhere, I'll be doing my usual military plan to get rounds and see everyone. This year I've made contingencies though and am going to enjoy every single minute - yes, even including the long train rides (knitting and crafting time with no interruptions from the cat, munching on my home-made filo and cranberry filo bites, reading compilations of short stories). I have also made a pact to wear all the amazing clothes – mainly vintage dresses, beaded jumpers and leather/suede winter skirts – that I have obtained over the last year to all the social events over the next three weeks (and, hopefully, beyond). 2009 has been a tough year for a number of people close to me, and I'd love to win the prize and dish out goodies to them – I'm sure they'd appreciate not getting 'yet another crafted present' from moi!

My daughter, her fiance & their 8 month old baby boy live here with me; so this year I have got all lovely pale blue, sparkles & clear glass decorations for the little chaps' first Xmas (sparkles make him smile & say 'Ooooo'!).
I will be prancing about in my usual (Nana can't be over 50 surely way), way making little chap chuckle, (have flashing antlers etc., not usually worn for a chap so young ~ hee hee); religiously saying 'Ooooo'! loads with him, but not (I repeat not) wearing a turkey on my head as they did in Friends......I'll leave that to the ex ~ it'll suit him ;) (joke).

In fact I shall be practising Domestic Sluttery to the best of my ability (helped along nicely by a couple of Mr Baileys), I've been taught well, thanx.

I've been living in London for longer than I remember now, but come winter time I could scuttle home to Sweden for pepparkakor and glogg. But not this year.
We'll still be keeping the Swedish Christmas spread though, so it's up to me to produce the all important giant ham without which no Swedish Christmas is complete. Oh, and the vat of rice pudding!
No stressful travel this year. Just a gorgeous dinner with our lovely neighbours within stumbling distance of our flat - which is fortunate when there is snaps involved!

Instead of lots of expensive presents we are reminding ourselves that its the little things that count, lots of lovely reciepe tips stolen from Domestic Sluttery to be cooked of course.

This christmas i am really excited because it isnt about spending a fortune but spending it with someone i really adore.

    Merry Christmas!

  93. Christmas for me will be drinks with old school friends on Christmas Eve, where tradition dictates that I don't actually drink as I go off to ring before and go to Midnight Mass. Then on the day after various ringing/singing/going to church services we'll all pile to Mum's for Christmas meal. Despite my parents divorce a couple of years ago we still all celebrate together which means my sister and I don't have to choose between them (we're in our late 20s). We generally are eating pudding around the time of the Queens speech and end of relaxing the rest of the day playing board games, sleeping and talking to various friends and family around the world.

There will be presents and children and time with my best friends which I can't see as much as I'd like. Then my BF and I are back to do it all over again just for the 2 of us on New Years Eve, so we get a bonus Christmas dinner which we will share with our kitties and open the pressents just after midnight! in the New year, but which one? Me being from Spain means that we do the new year at 11pm UK time (with the Spanish tradition of the grapes) and at 12pm. We are lucky enough to do everything x2! On New Years Day we'll go for a walk in Greenwich park to feed the squirrels and then go back home in time for the televised concert from Vienna. :) Loving Xmas!!

This year, I'll be giving my Mum a hand in the kitchen; baking mince pies, folding Polish pierogi, mulling some red wine, wrapping presents (last minute)and having a little singsong around the piano to a bit of Wizard or Slade. Midnight Mass and a baileys before bed rounds everything off very nicely.

On Christmas day we're going to open our pressies under the tree with the kids (the cats!), hubby is going to cook (he's a wonderful cook, and does a mean roast dinner!), then in the evening lots of cuddling accompanied with mulled wine and roast chestnuts! x

I usually spend Christmas with the entire family. We all love everything to do with Christmas from presents to eating dinner to falling asleep watching Christmas movies!

This year, we can't spend Christmas altogether so it is just a private affair for me and my boyfriend. We are just going to have to be even more Christmassy than usual to make up for it! We are still doing a whole turkey (lots of leftovers!!) and loads of pressies and I am sure he will manage to fall asleep after dinner!! :) We're also having a second Christmas with the whole family on the 20th with all the trimmings. So instead of being sad about a lonely Christmas, I am looking forward to double Christmas!!! :D

Then we'll go home have lots of festive booze and watch It's a Wonderful Life. 112. This Christmas will be spent, as ever, at home with the family.

I'll spend the day being territorial over the kitchen. Stir that gravy at your peril, and no, I do not need any help. GET OUT!

Dinner will be served generally 45 minutes late but I shall expect no-one to comment on my tardiness but rather compliment me on my culinary brilliance (snort).

Once stuffed I will be forcing the family to play the traditional game of Christmas Charades. They'll whinge, I'll threaten to make them wash up at which point enthusiasm for charades will go through the roof.

Aside from the sarcasm, I love Christmas. It's my 6 month old daughters first and my 3 year old son's first year of realisation of the magic of Santa.

It is going to be great!

As she is the still spritely eighty year old matriach of a large Italian family I can expect to be fighting for table space with six aunts and uncles, their partners, numerous cousins and second cousins. From the eldest among us - my great grandmother at 99 this year - to the youngest, newborn baby Rachel, there will be five generations spending a festive afternoon of boardgames, Doctor Who and far too much food. It's not often we can all get together, and for me it really puts the magic into this time of year. I can't wait! (retweeted at furthestfable)

On a back deck in Queensland, Austraylia no less
Twinkly lights melting, m-e-l-ting in the summer heat
Hot, sticky and prickly in a pretty Christmas dress.

Dad will stoke up the bbq, to add to the heat
Prawns, haloumi and chicken will sizzle until
Mum brings through the salads, crackers and drinks
We'll all sit down and tell Mum she's brill.

After lunch it's a swim, followed by a hammock nap
Cousins thrown in the pool, splish splash
Food starts again, with ice cream in between
In the eve, some drinks, nibbles - hope Uncle doesn't get lash(ed).

At least we now know we're not moving so we've put up the decorations, which makes it feel more Christmassy!

  127. This year will be extra special as im spending the whole day with my mum. I know this might sound like hell to some people but shes my best friend. In previous years I spent the day split between mum and ex's family but this year as that relationship is no longer its just us two. Cue girly films, lots of mulled wine, mince pies and brandy cream, cooking disasters, squealing, tears as we reminisce and hopefully the day she deserves. For being my strength through a chronic illness. And me never being able to express fully how much Im thankful. Even if she will force me to watch the queens speech. Bah!

The day will consist of stockings and panetone, too much goose and too much wine, sibbling squabbles, walks on hampstead heath, strictly come dancing christmas special and general jolliness.

  129. I am having a Delia Christmas this year following on from the last 4 years of celeb chef days which were fraught and frantic. So with St Delia by my side I will wow the whole family (12) with my wit, charm, patience and delicious food. It is going to be soo perfect this year... like a disney film with no bad guys!
My teenagers are going to make polite conversation and my mother in law will tell me what a lovely job I am doing as a wife and mother. My brother in law will not mention the war and play Cranium with the children. My spinster great aunt will not sulk when she does not win the party games! Father in law will be generous and giving and not complain once.
And best of all my husband will help around the house on the big day.
    Happy Christmas one and all

  131. This year, I'll be donning a pinny, scraping back my hair, bracing myself before painting on a perfect smile. After 4 years of 'going it alone' on Christmas day, me and my husband have decided to fling open the doors of our (very) cramped flat, decorate it with all manner of trailing flora and scented candles, to invite two sets of parents, one moody teenage sister, one 'loved-up' brother and a second even more 'loved-up' sister, and a slightly nervous new beau in tow, one Christmas-averse ("it's all far too materialistic, not like in my day"...) grandmother, and one very naughty, over-indulged terrier, with designs on chewing (my!) new shoes. So, this year it's out with the quiet, cosy Christmas for two (sob!) and in with the maurauding mayhem of the in-laws..........wish us luck!!!!

  132. I'm really worried that Christmas might not happen this year - my flight on the 24th is with BA so I'm on tenterhooks hoping I can get home. I'm flying home to Lisbon to see my Dad and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Seriously - Catholic Christmas celebrations are busy. Ours involve copious amounts of food with my grandmother anxiously hovering in the background convinced we're anorexic if we don't eat our own body weight within the first hour, lots of shouting around the table of at least 30 people, several bottles of local wine (each...), snowdrifts of presents for the kids (adults just exchange hugs), lots of smelly cheese (hurrah!) and the usual Portuguese gossip and laughter. Someone will take offense at something someone else has said (whilst gesturing madly with their hands), there will be a flouncing off session and then the family will be called to witness a loud, emotional reunion about half an hour later, complete with grand gestures, heartfelt hugs and tearful declarations of love. Someone will announce an engagement, a pregnancy or a new bottle of Port (the cheers will be equally enthusiastic for each of the aforementioned speeches). Someone will eat the last of the traditional cod dish and get thwacked on the back of the hand with a spoon by my aunt. Someone else will fall asleep and the kids will play human buckaroo until they wake up. My sister and I will arrive with English goodies that you can't get there (my aunt still calls parsnips "white carrots") and cook them, getting in the way. My dad is a total anglophile and will make off with at least half of the pigs in blankets, chowing down furiously inbetween the buffet and the table so that nobody notices (everyone will notice and mock. Loudly.). The evening starts at 8pm and goes on until the early hours of the morning, usually finishing when one of the dogs gets overly excited and either tries to scale the tree in a madly enthusiastic bid to get in on the festivities or eats one of the children's presents. Cue tired tears, general soothing by chocolate (surely the best child-rearing technique known to man) and a mighty gathering of coats.

My sister and I only go home twice a year so it's a big event for us. Then on the 25th we'll go and leave flowers on my mothers grave (she was English and I miss her more than I can say - even close to ten years on), visit the other branches of the family for further installments of the soap opera that is local life and end with a walk on the beach to our local where all of our school friends will be sitting down to an imported English evening of mulled wine. Nobody does British like the ex-pat community! It'll be wonderful but exhausting - looking forward to coming home to london on the 28th for a relaxing day with the boyfriend's family. There are just four of them so it'll be nice and quiet!

Wishing you a sluttishly decadent Christmas, one and all!

This means that this Christmas I will be celebrating with my husband and his Welsh family that I can stay in the UK!

We'll be in Llandudno, North Wales surrounded by my mother-in-law's 100s of nativity scenes, eating a traditional British Christmas turkey lunch (instead of a NZ BBQ I'm used to) and toasting "Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda"!

My very favourite part of the day though will be visiting the horse I share with my sister - I hardly ever get to see him because it's a hassle to get home & I have him all to myself on Christmas! The yard is always so peaceful & the horses love to play in the snow, it's brilliant to watch. (fingers crossed it snows of course!).

    I can't wait!

  137. Christmas for The Boy and me is about battening down the hatches and completely relaxing. He's a creature of habit so likes his routine, which involves a Chinese Takeaway on Christmas Eve, wood burner on and a DVD or something on Sky Plus. A little bit of mulled wine or cider or maybe a nice bottle of red.

Christmas day, after a slow start we'll come down and stoke up the fire, then we'll open our presents to each other. Then breakfast and a bottle of champagne, I'll start lunch whilst listening to carols or watching a Christmas film whilst The Boy watches Sky Sports and speaks to his Mum on the phone. I'll phone my Mum and close friends then we'll eat, then settle down in front of the fire with the book or films we got for Christmas. After Dr Who we'll be busy doing a bit more nothing.

Boxing Day and The Boy will go out for a run whilst I cook the ham, then it's off to the football - I'll take mince pies and mulled wine to share with the people we sit with and hopefully after a good result we'll head home happy. The Boy will settle in front of the TV and I'll potter around.

It's nothing exciting, and nothing special but it's time we spend together completely relaxed and enjoy every minute.

  138. Hi, Its been a tough year for us this year, My gandam and my mum passed away( other family members already passed away), so my children have only me and my partner this year as we have no extended family to share with. So I have been collecting all sorts of things, I have cranium to play, a chocolatte roulette game with chilli chocolate! I have also been collecting silly newspaper stories from throughout the year so we can have a guessing game about them! My boys are aged from 22 -3 I have made a memory box for each of them with a photo flip book of photos with their grans and grandads and great gran and grandad) and little momentoes that I saved for them,( pice of jewellry and cards they had sent which had been kept so we can chat about the people who are no longer with us and share all our happy memories together, ( sounds sad doesnt it! ) I am sure we will have plenty of laughs when we remember all the silly stories.

I also Had them printed a special characture t- shirt each with halos above their heads as they are all my angels ( I am sure they will never wear them after xmas day though! ) So it will be tough but I am determined to make it happy and special too.

But this year, we have decided to spend quality time together here in London and I couldn't be happier. For the first time in many years I have done my favourite Christmastime decoarating including buying and dressing a tree! I am looking forward to the togetherness, the quiet streets on Christmas morning, unplugging from my work and relaxing in a warm home with good food and things like 'Elf' on the telly.

As a bonus this year, our very good friends have decided to do the same... and so we will spend a very grown-up Christmas lunch at their home in East Dulwich. We will wear the tackiest or twee-ist jumpers we can find and its going to be just perfect.

And although we've avoided the high street so far... you can be sure we will venture out to take one last look at the beautiful shop windows. twitter @englishdesignco

This christmas is all about old friends and family for me.
It all really starts off on the 23rd when my school friends come over to my mum's house and we drink mulled wine and make gingerbread.
Then on the 24th it's my grandmother's 83rd birthday (but shhh about her age!) she's been ill this year so it'll be extra special to celebrate it together as a family. On christmas day it'll be four generations of our family together having a laugh. It'll also be my first christmas with my two new nephews so i'm really excited about that, can't wait to see their faces.

  163. There is something extremely lovely about the similarity in the way almost everyone on here is spending Christmas: being with family and friends (indulging in the the festive trinity of eating, drinking and sitting in front of the TV). And indeed this I am very pleased to say I am no exception! I'll be with the M, D and sis, partaking in the slightly-random-but-now-traditional curry buffet on Christmas Eve and then rising on Xmas morning for presents and that other wonderful Christmas tradition: drinking before noon in your pyjamas.

    Have a great Christmas everyone!

I will also hopefully go back to the street in which I lived on for all of my childhood and repeat what we as a family did every year - A buffet in the neighbours house, complete with 92 year old Nana Jean and children running riot! - A proper christmas once again! Extended family are always the best.

I am feeling extremely positive about this years christmas!

  166. This christmas I will be with my family, the best place to be! I'll be driving down home with the special homemade christmas pudding and bags & bags of presents for me, mum, dad & nan.
After a carol singsong & mince pies with the neighbouring streets we'll all come home to champagne and opening one present early.
Christmas morning I'm sure we'll be up early with bucks fizz and stockings of presents.
Then champagne breakfast and the presents under the tree will be shared around - I'm sure theres a few family games and puzzles to share for the afternoon as well. We all pitch in for cooking Christmas lunch and get to open up our table presents (everyone got a few boxes to decorate and fill with small fun table presents).
Then relaxing with a film (I'm sure someone would have got a DVD) as long as its done for 6pm - can't miss the lovely Doctor Who!
Boxing day will be much the same chilling out with games and enjoying being together - probaly go for a walk along the coast or on the moors.

Ooooo I can't wait... but until then I've got a lot of looong hours at work!

My mum is from Belgium, and every other year, we go to stay with my aunt, out in her big house in a little village in the country side. It's a far cry from my busy London lifestyle, and it is so lovely to get away from everything, and spend some fun time with my nutcase family ;)

This year, my other half is coming too - it'll be his first trip to Belgium, and his first Christmas with my family. We'll be fed PLENTY, although not turkey (not a tradition on the continent!) - not that I'm complaining, my aunt's cooking is FAB :)

Plus she has a fireplace in the living room, where we all dump ourselves in front of, on armchairs, and digest slowly. It's bound to be a lovely, relaxing Christmas!

With plenty of BELGIAN CHOCOLATE :)

  169. Christmas will be spent at home, tucked away in the snowy (hopefully) hills of Fort William and will be the first time in a few years where nobody is working meaning my mum, little sister and I can all have a relaxing dinner together which will be lovely. We have made a stand and decided to scrap the turkey tradition (as 20 years of it can become rather tiresome) and treat ourselves to A HAM! AND SCALLOPS! I would list the entire meal but may explode with excitemnt. After dinner, a few glasses of wine and being amazed how my mum always does everything she can just for us I shall tipsily don my winter coat and wellies to brave the Highland chill and visit my dad and grandparents. We will spend most of the night listening to great music (my dad has taste!) and laughing at my granny telling jokes which are never funny. Ironically, her complete lack of comic timing is hilarious!

My boyfriend (of almost a year) absolutely adores Christmas and has magically rekindled my festive flame, which I am ever so grateful for. I have already been psyching myself up for the occasion with batches of mulled wine. And soon there shall be drinking of eggnog and snowballs, scoffing of giant pretzels and bubbling of home made pear chutney for friends and family! I have promised to carry out toxicity tests on all of my creations, much to the relief of everybody concerned.

To win a REAL tree would be a dream come true as we've never had one! As would winning a beautful outfit for Christmas. Having said that I'll be gloriously happy with our little plastic tree and my fun Christmas jumper so long as we are together, cooking delicious food, sharing and enjoying every second of our jovial banter. And although this year we really are on a supersupersuper tight budget, as are most people, I honestly think this shall be the best Christmas yet!

    Merry Christmas!

  170. I'll be spending Christmas with my boyfriend and his family. Which isn't hugely interesting as a statement but is really special for me. Growing up there was no Christmas-ness in my Indian family so these last three Christmases I've spent with my new family have had me giddy. Presents and food and decorations and old people and wine and sing-alongs and chilly walks and charades and dozy television! I get dizzy just thinking about it, and usually start to in February. I don't see my family at all and the Jenkins' have adopted me as one of their own which is especially comforting at Christmas.

  171. A-mazing prize!

For Christmas, I'll be starting the morning off with a bucks fizz and fry up with the family. We'll open a few presents, and then jump in my car for the 20 minute drive to my boyfriends to open some presents there. I'll then jump back in the car to get back home to help with the prepping off Christmas dinner.

We'll take the dog for a walk along the Thames in Henley, and then come back to dig into Christmas dinner! Finally, we'll finish off the day with Baileys, Christmas pudding and a board game marathon.

Phew! A busy one this year.

If I won, I'd keep the dress and give everything else to my friends and family to spread the festive feeling :)

However, the fellow hardy souls I work with have a cunning plan to make Christmas go with a swing, even if we wont get to see much (or any!) of our families this year...

We're bringing in a hip flask and taking it in turns to dash to the fitting room for a swig. We're stashing our till-points with handfuls of chocolates and hiding mince-pies in the stockroom. We shall moan and groan and laugh it all off as we compare our swollen feet, our bulging bunions and our premature varicose veins.

Well if you can't be at home and happy, you might as well be tipsy and stuffed full of sugar at work. ;)

I will be more than a little bit tipsy on champagne cocktails and NOT standing on the baby whilst taking a fresh chocolate panettone from the bread machine to serve with home made madelaines for breakfast. It will truly be the merriest Christmas in the last 10 years!

my Christmas will be a tale of two halves; the morning will be spent with my soon-to-be ex-husband whilst our 10 yr old daughter unwraps her presents (it's our 1st christmas as a separated family). This will be followed by a swift visit to the local village pub where I will undoubtedly drink too much. Then back home to await the arrival of mother, sister, brother in law, 2 sweet little girls, but most importantly, my soulmate and his 16 yr old daughter - this will be our first 'family' chrismas together and it will have none of the previous years' stresses and strains. There will be too much food, not enough alcohol, lots of loud music and laughter and silly games :-) Thinking of what's to come will get me through the morning. And maybe chocolate and the odd sneaky glass or two of fizz :-) Who cares if the turkey is overdone?!
