Glow with the flow: lovely lighting

A show-stopping lamp can transform a room - especially one that comprises a bit of 'light' humour. These are the styles currently flicking my switch...

Why, hello petal! This lovely 'Helena' table/wall lamp (£45, Habitat) is the sort of climbing flower you want crawling all over your walls. With yellow aluminium petals and a green fabric covered cable, you won't need to water this flower (you'd cause yourself a mischief if you did).

This pineapple table lamp, with an antiqued bronze finish (£42 for the base only, Graham and Green) cleverly mixes fun, fruit and elegance (the same is often said of me). It will quite literally light up any table it graces (this is also said of me, at parties, after one too many cocktails).

I simply adore this quirky table lamp (£100 Laura Ashley). With the stacked china teacups, it feels as though you could be Alice in the Mad Hatter's living room. And what's more, it comes complete with its own fabric shade so you don't have to faff around trying to match one up.

This duck feet lamp (price on request from Porta Romana but to save you the bother, I think it's around the £400 mark. And that's without a shade. Yikes.) is probably my most favourite (and ergo, the most expensive, obviously). But what a larf, eh? The lanky legs are carat gold leaf (hence the hefty price tag) and you can even buy an accompanying shade made from goose feathers to complete the avian appearance. Twit-twoo indeed.

  2. Who knew boring ol' table lamps could be so much fun?! If I HAD to, I'd choose the duck feet lamp as my fave. Or maybe the stacked tea-cups.x
