Pot calling the Kettle Black

On Friday, the kettle in Sluttery HQ died a rather dramatic death. Leaving us in quite a pickle. You might think it's fun to boil water on the hob, pretend you're one of the olden daysers, but the novelty of that wears off after one cuppa. We've now got a new kettle (not a racing car one, unfortunately), but just to be on the safe side, I'm got my eye on these ones to go on the hob.

It's red, it whistles, it's Le Creuset. It's £65 from John Lewis.

I love this cream kettle from Wesco. It's the perfect mix of modern and traditional. It's £43 from Heal's.

This stainless steal kettle doesn't actually come stripy, that's just the light playing tricks. But it is pretty. And it's £30.65 from Barnitts.

And if all else fails, I can boil the water in one of these pastel enamel pans from Labour & Wait.

  1. Hoorah, someone else who uses an on-the-hob kettle! There isn't room in my cupboard-sized kitchen for an electric kettle (the toaster already lives on top of the fridge thanks to a severe lack of surface space) but I love my shiny kettle, and it whistles and everything!

  2. I stopped reading after the first one, because red/whistle/Le Creuset/John Lewis is pretty much a dream list of everything I'd want from a kettle.

  3. The red one is perfect for me too - although would probably lead to even more crack-like levels of tea addiction!

  4. oh my! I so have my eyes on that Le Creuset kettle... I'm hesitating between the white one and the black one, though... as it would look prettier in my future kitchen! I know it's so futile to choose the kettle according to a kitchen that's only remodeled in my mind!!!

  5. Ooooo, nice kettles. I'm blessed with Aga and am on the look-out for a new stove-top kettle. Now, if I could just find one in purple or lime green (3rd choice black) then I'll be a happy girl.

  6. John Lewis have some black Le Crueset ones, Katy! Didn't spot any lime green though.
