Cocktail Hour: The Duke of Marlborough

Sherry is something that will always be in my house. I don't know why, it's just there. For Bloody Mary cocktails? For trifle? For emergencies? I don't know, I've never drunk it. But it's not all about the nasty bottle at the back of the drinks cupboard. There's some very fancy sherry varieties out there. I'm not sure I'm going to be a Dot Branning type and start ordering a sweet sherry in the pub on a Friday night, but I do want to give it a bash.

The Duke of Marlborough cocktail sounds very sweet, but it's actually made with dry sherry.

You'll need:
  • 50ml dry sherry
  • 50ml sweet vermouth
  • juice of half a lime
  • raspberry puree
Shake it!

Add all your ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice, shake and pour into a shilled cocktail glass. That's a much nicer drink than Dot Branning has ever had in the Queen Vic.
