Cocktail Hour: Savoy Corpse Reviver

Hair of the dog is a cruel mistress. Everyone has their favourites, and they'll insist that their hangover cure is the very best. It's rubbish of course. As I once discovered drinking Sambuca at 9am on a Sunday because I listened to a very silly boy. The rest of the day really didn't go according to plan.

But when the Savoy turn their hand to something, I can't ignore it. You don't argue with the barmen at the Savoy. They know best. About a whole load more than drinks, I imagine. The Corpse Reviver isn't just a wonderfully named drink, it was invented as a hair of the dog, one that works no matter what you've been drinking the night before.

Say after me: In the Savoy, we trust.

You'll need:

• 25ml Cognac (this would be the the part that kicks your hangover into touch)
• 25ml Creme de Menthe (it'll blow those cobwebs away)
• 25ml fernet branca (this will settle your vommy stomach, I promise)

Shake it!

Shake the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Enjoy with an episode of Columbo and don't you dare you at your phone for drunken text messages until you've finished it.
