We're very discerning when we tell you about cocktail bars. They need to be really really special to catch our attention. There's nothing wrong with drinking a pitcher of woo-woos in your local, or even popping to a snazzy hotel bar for a treat, but if you're going out to spend close on £10 a drink you deserve something extra special.Like the Monkey Shoulder Tree House Bar. That's right. A tree house bar. After swinging through the trees to make their entrance at the Big Chill Festival, they're hitting the Truman Brewery at the end of this week.
You can expect Monkey Shoulder cocktails (no, I don't know what makes them monkey-ish either, maybe they have banana in) and you'll be able to have monkey nut nibbles as well. But most importantly, you can sit down and play a game of snakes and ladders in a treehouse in the middle of Brick Lane. And that gets our vote.
Shame it's only going to last a few days. The bar pops up on the 10th September, and it'll be gone by the 13th. Make sure you get down there sharpish. Climbing normal trees in stilettos isn't very easy.
