Clara Francis' Hummingbirds
Clara Francis is a strange designer for me to feature. Usually, I'm totally in love with every single piece and I'll be honest, I don't think that's the case with Clara's work. Some of it just doesn't really grab me, even though I can see the detail in the work. But the intricate beading on these hummingbird earrings made me reconsider.
Clara is self taught, and each piece can take up to 22 hours to complete - the tiny glass beads are all hand stitched and they're perfect for something as delicate as hummingbirds.
They look almost pixelated, don't they? I think that's why I like them. From a distance, they'd look like interesting computer graphics, and it's only when you saw them up close that you'd see just how much work has gone into them. These are really special pieces.
Prices start at £60 for a small hummingbird necklace, going up to around £200 for larger and more detailed designs.

Very pretty and unusual jewelry. I hate doing small beadwork myself but I can always appreciate the hard work and dedication that went into it.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! So much time goes into beading.
