This is our 5000th post! Over the last three and a half years, we've shared hundreds of recipes, so many gorgeous hotels I can't count, and loads of great shops and independent designers. For our 5000th post, I wanted to show you all something really special.
I want to tell you about Andy Malone's Observer books. I had loads of Observer books when I was a kid. They were probably passed down from my grandparents to my parents and then to me, but they never looked as fabulous as Malone's.
He's worked with nine of the Observer books, including Birds, Butterflies and Moths, Horses, Dogs, Locomotives and Flowers. His altered designs are limited edition - there are only 20 of each edition available.
Malone cuts away the blank parts of the pages, leaving the illustrations to really stand out. The drawings are exposed, and the book takes on a sort of flip book quality, but with extra facts that will make you a genius at the pub quiz.
The books are £80 each and the perfect gift for something who is a fan of facts as well as beautiful things (so all of the Domestic Sluts, basically). You can buy them (and all sorts of other fabulous goodies) from LMNOP Shop.

The butterflies, I think. The birds look a little creepy - like they're waiting to fly out at you from the pages when you open the book. (I may have thought about it a little too much.)
