Another competition! We spoil you! So much that we might have to make this competition a weekly thing! (Don't hold us to that though, we're forgetful). This week, you can win your very own necklace from our favourites Rock 'n' Rose. Like one of these:
Or these Alice in Wonderland pieces:
Or what about one of the birdcage necklaces we mentioned a little while back?
This is a fab competition because you get to choose which necklace you want. AND you get two chances of winning! The lovely folk at Rock 'n' Rose will pick one winner, and the Domestic Sluts will pick the other.
So what do you have to do?
Take a look at the necklaces on the Rock 'n' Rose website, and decide which necklace you want to get your grubby little mits on. Then comment on this post telling us which necklace you want and where you'd wear it. We'll choose our favourite answers (so be creative!) and then at 4pm on Friday 4th September, we'll pick two winners and make sure your loot gets posted out to you. Rock 'n' Rose will happily deliver to you if you're outside of the UK so this is a really open competition.
Can't wait to see all of your answers!
Small print: Only one entry per person and no cash alternative offered. Only applies to Rock 'n' Rose necklaces. Don't shout at us if we don't pick you as the winner. We do, of course accept bribes. Oh, apparently we can't write that. Dammit. Who wrote these rules?

It has to be the birdcage necklace; i'd wear it to my PhD viva.
ReplyDeleteMy thesis examines the literature of the South Wales coalfield - so lots of mining and lots of grim accidents - and i've often thought that I need a bird in a cage on my desk to keep the theme going. but in a more cheerful way. (And a birdcage is far more ladylike than a Davey lamp and a Dai flat cap!)
wow gorgeous necklaces, it must go on my i want something from this website list.
ReplyDeletei think the winter rose one is my favourite.
im my spare time, i play an online game it has millions of subscribers across the world and 100,000s of guilds of people working together to complete the game, in the guild im in there are about 200 of us, and for the second time this year many of us will be coming from all over europe to have a party, theyre a crazy bunch i id say im deffinatly a rose amongst the thorns!
I would choose the vintage initial necklace and wear it to my 21st birthday meal, on 16th September! It would be a perfect 21st treat :)
ReplyDeleteLove from Hanny-Lou xx
I would wear the keep calm and carry on necklace to work. I work with kids with Special Educational Needs and although they are fun and rewarding they also use poo as finger-paint and have a tendency to fall over and cut them selves or you know, get their heads stuck in things smaller than their heads. Keep calm and carry on is my own personal motto!
ReplyDeleteI'd wear this rocking cassette tape necklace at my next gig (I play drums in a band called Witness To The Beard...)
ReplyDeletehttp://rocknrose.bigcartel.com/product/my-favourite-mixtape
Oh my word oh my word.
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Pocket Watch necklace. I have been coveting this necklace ever since you first posted about Rock 'n Rose. I love it so much, that I really could marry it.
Having said that, all of those necklaces are... nom nom.
But definitely the pocket watch. And why? Well, my reason will make you wonder why I didn't choose an Alice in Wonderland necklace. But it really must be the pocket watch. Oh my yes.
Why I want it? Well, I'd most certainly wear it to my wedding. Yes, you heard me right. My wedding.
Shall I explain? OK, but you have to promise to keep it a secret :)
I'm going to have an Alice in Wonderland wedding. Or...Alice in Weddingland, should that be? So a White Rabbit style pocket watch around my neck would be oh-so-wonderful.
What? Of course there'll be tea and cupcakes!!
I would love to wear the Paris is for lovers necklace. I'm off to America to take a chance to try and win back a boy. Our first holiday was Paris, I'm hoping this little reminder will jog his memory to the amazing time we had.
ReplyDeletePlus it's super cute!
they are all amazing but I'm going to go with the pocket watch necklace. I would wear it for my Great Nanny's 90th birthday celebration I think.
ReplyDeleteFor me it would have to be the "C'est La Vie" necklace. I would wear it "ironically" after my first 1/2 marathon at the end of Sept. I haven't put in near enough training as I should have and what ever the result, the best way of dealing with the pain post-race will be taking inspiration from the lovely necklace - Such is life!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely choose the Pocket Watch necklace.
ReplyDeleteMy lovely husband is about to depart for Afghanistan for a five month tour.
I would use it to carry a picture of him in and count down the minutes until he comes home!
Oh please, please, please let me win the "your name here" necklace!!!! I would put my Twitter handle (@alisond) on it and wear it to tons of events--where I would surely get loads of questions and compliments, to which I would of course send them to your website!
ReplyDeleteHehe, it would be fun to have it say "yournamehere", no?
ReplyDeleteThe Domestic Sluts can't enter (boooo!) so now we're just shopping! I'm loving the birdcage necklace!
i love all these necklaces. i would be especially please with the long yellow bird cage necklace which i would adorn myself with on my friend's hen do.
ReplyDeletetweet.
I would choose the Paris is for lovers necklace, the parisian stamp one.
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend took me to paris for my 17th birthday and 2 years on is still one of my favorite places in the world.
I would wear it layered over my vintage frocks for a cute look or to dress up a simple jeans n tee :)
It would be such a hard decision they are all gorgeous, think i'd go for the Grecian Goddess in black.
ReplyDeleteWhere would i wear it....would have to be the Buffy convention i'm going to in October 'Hallowhedon' i'm meeting spike so surely need a pretty neck to entice him with....and yes i know i'm old enough to know better!
I love the Felicity Rose necklace!
ReplyDeletehttp://rocknrose.bigcartel.com/product/felicity-rose-necklace
Pure and white and vibrant,
It stands out from the crowd,
To wear it at a friends wedding, would make me very proud!
I'd wear it to the office, and then out to a club,
At christmas lunch with family and maybe to the pub.
A piece for all occasions, to make my look complete,
Or maybe wear it all alone, to keep my boyfriend sweet!
It is so hard to choose, but the necklace that I absolutely love is the "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds".
ReplyDeleteWhere would I wear it? Everywhere because it feels like a truly unique necklace; something vintage but done up in a new way and absolutely individual.
To me, it typifies the person I am, so why not show everyone (and in the process, make them green with envy or begging to know where I got such a pretty bauble)?
I would choose the 'keep calm and carry on' necklace because in my job as a stressed library assistant in a severely understaffed community library I think it would bring a wry smile to the faces of our equally stressed but wonderful patrons.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be the "C'est la Vie" necklace - love Rock 'n' Rose!! I have just quit my job to start on a new career path and a new way of life and its my new catchphrase :)
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be worn with something delightfully black and classy and would be a reminder every day of a new approach to my life. It would also help me drop hints about a parisian anniversary trip to my husband.. :)
I would choose the 'Vintage Initial Necklace' in L and I'd wear it everywhere and anywhere. They sort of remind me of Betty's 'B' necklace from Ugly Betty so i'd love to have my own Betty-esque necklace cuz Betty rocks. It doesn't have to be a special occasion to wear a necklace like that, I'd wear it down the shops or out to a meal with equal pride :)
ReplyDeleteLove Lu. xXx
Splendid!
ReplyDeleteKissing Couples Lady in Black has to be a must for my vintage wardrobe.
My compulsion with collecting such images & postcards of this nature has become rather unhealthy following finding my very own Vintage Chap!
I would wear it when stepping out with him to 1940's dance nights or just sat in at home, drinking Earl Gray tea by the lamplight, listening to our 78's on the gramophone or ITMA on our Ultra wireless.
~ romantic, domestic, wartime, vintage bliss ~
I would be so excited to win the Kissing Couples Lady in Black necklace. I collect old photographs and that necklace speaks to my soul. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'd wear it to my wedding in a couple weeks. The necklace is so beautiful, I'd wear it on my honeymoon, too.
Wow! What an amazing collection of necklaces! It's so hard to choose but the one that stands out the most for me is the beautiful Pocket Watch necklace.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for something a bit different to wear to the Tobbacco Docks tattoo convention in London at the end of September. I am sad that I won't be able to get a tattoo at the event (for a very good reason-my husband and i are trying for a baby! Yay!), so instead, I am planning on treating myself to a new vintage style outfit and this would be the proverbial cherry on the top! Pick me pretty please!
They are all lovely but my favourite is the Winter Rose necklace. I think I would have to wear it all the time as it is so nice
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the "C'est La Vie" envelope necklace. I think it's so classy and elegant. I think I'd wear it when I see my lovely boyfriend, who I will soon be moving 250 miles away from. I am planning to write to him because I think letters are so much more personal and affectionate than texts or calls. (Though I'm sure there will be plenty of those too!) I'm so sad to be moving away from him but... "C'est la vie!"
ReplyDeleteI would very much like the Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds necklace. Classically-designed, it reminds me of some of the things I used to find in my grandmother's jewellery box when I was a young girl. I always imagined that one day she'd give me a little something, but who knows if she ever will or what it would mean to me. Even if she does, hopefully she's got a lot of years to look forward to of her own...
ReplyDeleteSo I'd like to have this necklace because it reminds me of special times - of my dreams and imagination of childhood, of when I used to look through my grandmother's beautiful old things and imagine that one day just one little something of it would be mine.
Within that, I meant to have said
ReplyDeleteI always imagined that one day she'd give me a little something, but who knows if she ever will or if she even knows what it would mean to me.
Oh and also, in direct answer to your question:
ReplyDelete"I'd wear it around and about and just feel special"
If I was lucky enough to get one of these amazing necklaces I think I would save it for my mother for something to wear as mother-of-the-bride on my wedding day. No date set yet but she would simply adore something as gorgeous as the Vintage Grecian lady cameo - she has always wanted a proper cameo and this would just put her over the moon with excitement if I was finally able to get one for her.
ReplyDeleteFor me it would have to be one of the 'KISSING COUPLES', as my husband and I have had romance written into our lives from the first moment we met. Were set up on a blind date on Valentines Day, got married two years later and had a beautiful baby boy three years after that. And we are still in our honeymoon phase, and more in love than ever :-).
ReplyDeleteI've been watching Dad's Army with my Grandad every since i can remember and I love all things proudly British (as I am). Which is why the "Keep Calm and Carry On" necklace is my ultimate favourite. I was going to buy the t-shirt but then saw it on Katie Price, she ruined the shirt but thankfully not the necklace. I would wear it everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI would pick the Alice in Wonderland necklace and I would wear it to my sister's wedding. I don't get to see her very often, but when I do I feel like I'm in a wonderland - she certaintly makes life more interesting/mad.
ReplyDeletexx
Ooo decisions decisions!
ReplyDeleteWith starting a new career adventure as a science teacher in September, I can't wait to show that teachers aren't all frump!
The yellow bird in the cage necklace would add the perfect touch of vintage glamour!
Let's throw away the faux pearls and cardigans ladies!
xx
Splendid!

I had the most amazin few days in Paris in July, so it would have to be the Paris is for Lovers necklace, probably the 'Bonjour' version, as it's about the only word of French I can say! Oh, and "chocolat chaud s'il vous plaît" !
ReplyDeletehttp://rocknrose.bigcartel.com/product/cant-speak-french
ReplyDelete^^ The can't speak French necklace in silver is just stunningly beatiful and unique.
I have tickets for Girls Aloud at Wembley at the end of this month so I'd wear it then with a rocking pair of boots (obviously with something else too but only the boots have been decided upon so far - so many choices).
Although sadly my boyfriend says it less reflects my inability to speak French and more my ability to constantly change my mind about things - it's a girl's prerogative, non?
Too many to choose from!! I think i would choose the winter rose and i would give it to my Mum because she is a winter baby and despite many attempts to cut her down she is as strong and beautiful as a rose still.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get my mitts on the Pocket Watch necklace. To be truthful, I want it as it is the most expensive there. And if you are going to win something, it may as well be the priciest :>
ReplyDeleteLuckily, I do love it aside from the price. It has an air of mystery about it, a secret if you will. So therefore I could be alluring and secrety just by association when wearing it.
So I would wear it whilst getting my tax done. That way all my money that has mysteriously been spent on booze and pretty things, gets claimed as a tax deduction :>
"Honest Ms Tax person - I have never claimed anything I wasn't supposed to - here look at the pretty necklace - you are feeling very sleepy..."
I'd go for the White Rabbit Alice in wonderland job, as I'm always late (lat, for a very important date...). I'd wear it on any occasion that I'm likely to be late - which is pretty much all the time. At least then I'd feel like I'm not alone :)
ReplyDeleteKat
Oooh the mixtape necklace definitely, brings back many memories of Sunday afternoons spent sitting my the radio with fingers posed over the record button on my tapdeck, trying to catch all the best bits of the chart just so!
ReplyDeleteAnd as for when I'd wear it - no special occasion, which IS a spacial occasion for me! After 20 years of having gigantic boobs and therefore being unable to wear necklaces because they drew even more attention to my chest (which being shy I hate!) I finally took the plunge a week ago and had a breast reduction. So now I'm looking forward to wearing lovely jewellery that I couldn't before!
I would love the birdcage necklace - it is just so unique and definitely rocks! I would wear this awesome necklace to my little sister's birthday dinner, to work, out to coffee with a friend, to a job interview - basically, everywhere! This necklace is too cool to not wear all the time.
ReplyDeleteCheers!!
I'd love the 'Keep Calm & Carry On' - I'd wear it when my partner's parents meet mine for the first time next month.
ReplyDeleteI love the White Rabbit necklace. I would wear it on my busiest days, when I'm rushing between work and grad school and don't have any time to relax or clear my head. It will remind me to take a minute to myself, even if it's only to recaffeinate. It will also remind me not to go crazy, which can be very difficult to remember!
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful necklaces! it has taken me aaaages to decide which I love most of all! I think I would go for the Can't Speak French necklace as I am half French and ironically I can speak French! But then I could go round answering people's questions round the office just by pointing at one of the necklaces. 'Would you like a cup of tea?' Point> Oui! 'Sugar?' > 'Non'...oooh what fun! And I could wear it to the Sex and the City night my girlies and I are doing on 12th September!!! Amazing comp! Thank uuuuu!!!
ReplyDeleteohh beautiful necklaces - and my first time on this blog, what a find, I love twitter!
ReplyDeleteFor me it would have to be "Lucy and the Sky with Diamonds" as it would be a perfect accompaniment to my green vintage dress, which I plan to wear on my boyfriend and I's first anniversary this october :) beauteeful!
Ahh, I'm spoilt for choice!
ReplyDeleteI think that my favourite has got to be the birdcage necklace, though because it's just so gorgeous and quirky :)
If I win one, I doubt that I will ever take mine off! It will be permanently glued around my neck and I will cherish it forever! :-)
Thankyou!
xx
I'm spoiled for choice with these lovely necklaces! Should I go for the Can't Speak French necklace to celebrate that I've forgotten everything I learned for my French degree in the ten years since I graduated? How about the Keep Calm and Carry On necklace to remind me to chill and focus during the next two weeks when I have a sneaking suspicion I'll turn into bridezilla? Or the Octopus, to match my gold wedding dress when I get married on International Talk Like A Pirate Day? Yeah, I'm going to go with the Octopus. Although I am tempted to get a yournamehere necklace with my business name on it for craft fairs and networking... I feel a spending spree coming on!
ReplyDeleteI would wear the illustrated collection Alice through the Looking Glass necklace as it's my favourite childhood book. I would wear it around my neck.
ReplyDeleteHehe! That was funny.
ReplyDeleteBloody hard to choose a single necklace on here as they are all gorgeous! I'm loving the Mixtape necklace which i'd personally wear ALL the time, but for a special night out, maybe i'd choose the FELICITY ROSE NECKLACE! My sister is due to get married soon and i think she'd really appreciate this to wear as her dress has similar little flowers around the neckline - ideal! fingers crossed now that i'm lucky!
ReplyDeleteI love these necklaces, they are ALL fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI NEED the 'can't speak french' necklace for two reasons, firstly, I was born in France, but have lived in the UK my whole life, and do not speak French!!
Whenever I go and visit my relatives in France I am very suitably embarrassed and would love to have such a beautiful necklace to hide behind, my family will be so blinded by its beauty that they will not berate me for still not being fluent!! (I am learning btw)
Secondly, I am forever changing my mind about things - it's a womans prerogative, non?
I would pick the Keep Calm and Carry On necklace and I'd wear it to remind myself to keep calm despite everything that life seems to be throwing at me at the moment. My Dad's currently going through chemotherapy for prostate cancer and there have been a huge amount of hospital visits and days where it's felt like life's extremely hard. The necklace would be my own personal cheerleader, reminding me that things will be ok and that I can get through this.
ReplyDeleteI would choose the Grecian goddess cameo in black.
ReplyDeleteI've been working on building up my self-esteem lately - making better choices about my health, lots of positive affirmations and plenty of relaxing domestic sluttery!
I would wear the Grecian goddess cameo every day to remind me that I am making good choices for myself (and to keep me on target!), that my body is a temple and that every girl deserves to be a goddess!
I would love to win the 'your name here' necklace as I am an old SATC girl and always remember Carrie being distraught at losing hers in Paris during the last episode.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would have it saying "TLMJ" my nickname (The Lovely Miss Jones) as I beleive it would invite conversation for promoting not only the gorgeous necklaces on Rock 'n'Rose whilst I am running around busy being fabulous, my Twitter account, but hopefully be an icebreaker when talking to guys during my search to find my very own Mr Big (although I preferred Aiden to be honest!).
Good luck to everyone though.
x
Oh, these are fantastic! I'd choose the ONCE UPON A TIME necklace in "E," and I'd wear it to the first run of my girls sketch group's shows next month - we're The Gun Show and we're premiering our work at ImprovBoston next month, opening for my other sketch group. My initial is actually "E," but it would confuse so many people because I go by "Liz."
ReplyDeleteI love the Alice ones as i was convinced I was Alice in Wonderland growing up.
ReplyDeleteI would wear it whenever I need to remind myself to not be afraid of my inner child as a little imagination and inspiration can be all we need to get us through the day.
I'd choose the Red Songbird because out of all the other necklaces this one has the deepest meaning for me. The bird is beautiful, elegant and free. But once inside the cage it loses some of that posture: trapped in a metal prison. So you see the bird in two different lights but in both you still respect and understand the beauty it holds in it's tiny body. Just like in ourselves we keep secrets locked in our heart trapped by our ribs. And secrets in our mind hidden away, kept there by the fear of letting them out could cause diasters. The tiny bird free from it's cage and alone in the world is like our secrets free from their prison, and no one knows what could happen with all that beautiful knowledge free with no rules.
ReplyDeleteWowsers – I'd pick the necklace with the red bird perching outside the birdcage. I'd put it on, jump around making 'tweet tweet' noises and see if I could get my lazy (but extremely lovable) little cat, Chase, to stop sleeping ALL DAY LONG. Chances are that he would like at me like I'm a mad cat woman – again – but I could then do a joyous dance at having such a nice new necklace. Everyone's a winner.
