Win! National Cupcake Week contest! Cupcakes and Peonies!
*Drum roll please*... Sally Waters! You win! Yay! To claim your cupcakes, just send us an email and we'll put you in touch with those lovely people at Cupcakes and Peonies. Thanks so much to everyone who entered! Come back tomorrow for more cupcakes!
*Update* Thanks so much for your entries everyone! No more now! We're off to make a cup of tea, and then we'll tell you who is the lucky winner! *Update*
Horray! It's National Cupcake Week! Which means two fabulous things. The first being that we're going to use this as an excuse to eat as many cupcakes as possible (ten girls, that's an awful lot of cupcakes between us). The other fabulous thing? Well we're going to give away a box of cupcakes every single day. Hurrah!
Let's say that again just for good measure: Free cupcakes every single day. Sounds good, doesn't it?
Today, the cupcakes are from Cupcakes & Peonies, who we've written about before. They were one of the first cupcakeries we featured when we launched and they're a very firm favourite of ours. Yummy icing, perfect sponge and oh-so-pretty decorations. You can even win a box over on their website too if you want t double your chances.
So what do you have to do to win?
Just tell in the comments us what your favourite cupcake flavour is. For extra brownie points, you Twitter fiends can retweet this post as well and get an extra entry (although only the once, mind - there will be no Twitter spamming for cake).
You've got until 4.30pm today, and then we'll announce a winner after we've had a cup of tea (picked by random by the powers of the internet). You must be in England or Wales to enter this competition. Sorry to all you lovely folk reading this elsewhere. We've got heaps more competitions coming up this week so you can enter one of those instead.
The small print bit: Competition cakes only delivered to Wales and England (but if you don't live there, you can always send them as presents to someone who does). Don't shout at us if you don't win, there's other cupcakes tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after that too. The whole week in fact. We're not allowed to enter, but if you were interested, Siany likes vanilla cupcakes with pink frosting. We wish we could enter our own competitions. Humph.

ooh, what a question for a Monday morning. It's a close call between a simple and light vanilla and a summery strawberry - maybe with a dollop of jam hidden inside! Either way there has to be LOTS of frosting - preferably chocolate!
ReplyDeleteRED VELVET. RED VELVET. RED VELVET!!! Yeah, I like red velvet a lot. Shame the best Red Velvet cupcake I ever tasted was in the Napa Valley...definitely;y worth the 10 hour flight and the jetlag though :)
ReplyDeleteChocolate with chocolate icing. Maybe some silver sugar balls but I do prefer things simple!
ReplyDeleteHmmm just the one flavour. Well I suppose if pushed (and really pushed) I would plump for Oreo. Lovely chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting and an oreo on top. As made by the lovely people who sell at York Farmers Market (last Friday of each month) and I think they are here http://www.cupcakesbycharley.co.uk/ but the website isn't up and running by the looks of it. They are light and scrummy and a lovely Friday treat. They have lots of other ones too - Mr PCB's favourite it the Chocolate Orange one; my (very) close second is the tiramasu. Nom nom nom now need to eat cake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic way to ease myself into a Monday morning - it's good to get the tough decisions out of the way first. Vanilla with strawberry icing is definitely high on the list but it's topped by a recent discovery: rose flavoured cupcakes with cream cheese icing. Utterly gorgeous and highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteHungry now. Damn.
Oh wow! I'm so excited! National Cupcake Week! Thanks for the head's up ladies! Will have to bake bake bake some cake cake cake wooo! My favourite cupcake flavour is...tough one. Probably popyseed sponge with gorgeous lemon icing on top! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! Ohhhhhh...I'd have to say plain vanilla but with cinammon icing!! x
ReplyDeleteNothing tops plain vanilla with loads of vanilla butter cream icing, topped with a dash of glitter!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite flavour is YUM. That's really an all-encompassing flavour.
ReplyDelete(The best cupcake I've ever had, without question, was a giant purple and silver cupcake that Lola's Bakery sent to us at thelondonpaper at the beginning of the month. It was our third birthday, and seeing as we close this Friday, the most muted birthday ever. Having that delicious red velvet sponge and glittery icing sugared a very bitter pill indeed.)
ummmm....because I'm a daredevil with all things cake-related, I'm going to say....red velvet! I've never even tried these before but they sound amazing and I'm ready to be wowed. Can I have a sprinkle of something spicy on top?!
ReplyDeleteOooooh Cupcakes!! Now my (slightly early) yoghurt for elevenses seems so unsatisfying!
ReplyDeleteFavourite flavour is... Carrot cake cupcake with a cream cheese and pistachio frosting. Very indulgent but I still feel every so slightly good as it is vegetable based (ish) and I do count it as one of my 'five for the day'!
Chocolate and Vanilla with a runny Chocolate topping made with dark chocolate and cream are the fave in our hose. They are so yummy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVanilla with jam inside.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say carrot cake! Rich, delicious and you can kid yourself that it's healthy - plus even cuter in cupcake form!

ReplyDeleteI have an abiding and deep love for lemon cupcakes with vanilla frosting
ReplyDeletei've always wanted to try red velvet but alas have no local cupcake peddlars to get any from
I obviously have not eaten enough cupcakes as I couldn't think of ANY flavours! Umm... Vanilla? With lots of buttercream? and something pretty on the top? That's really boring isn't it...
ReplyDeleteA Pro-Plus laced one would be most useful right now however. It's been a loooong night.
Anything with chocolate!!!! :-)
ReplyDeletemmmmmmm cupcakes, well its not exactly a flavour... but my favouritest would have to be the cupcakes of my childhood - fairy cakes!! vanilla sponge cupcakes with the tops chopped off and turned into wings with some whipped cream, mmmmmmmmm nom nom! No childhood birthday party was complete without them! :) Oh, and I'll be twittering this ;) Good luck everyone! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove red velvet but its all about the cream cheese icing. Slap some cream cheese icing on a good vanilla cupcake base and I'd still be in love! Yum!
ReplyDeleteMy faverouite would have to be a light luscious lemon cupcake piled high with a lime or orange icing.
ReplyDeleteI like to thing its part of my five a day that way!!!!!!
I had a lemon meringue cupcake the other day - it was amazing, it's my new favourite :D
ReplyDeleteMmmmm what a lovely question. Am not salivating too much here at the thought!!
ReplyDeleteGot to be "Death by Chocolate" for me - chocolate sponge, choc fudge filling, chocolate buttercream on top and maybe some choc sprinkles on top just so there is enough chocolate to cause a coronary! Yum :) xx
Lemon, with a cream cheese icing on top. Mmmm. Preferably a buttermilk cake.
ReplyDeleteIt has already been said a few times, but I am going to have to agree with all the other Red Velvet lovers out there. Its especially good with cream cheese icing... ummm cupcakes
ReplyDeleteCupcakes!!
ReplyDeleteI adore cupcakes.
In fact I adore them so much I even have a Sausage Dog called Cupcake (How cute is that!)
There's a place in Kingley Court off Carnaby street that sells the most amazing cupcakes with all sorts of sweets & stuff on the top. I have to go there whenever I'm in London.
Now, if I had to choose my favourite, oooooh that would be hard....do I go for looks or taste - or both!!
Looks - it would have to be pink & glittery with lots of pretty flowers & girly stuff. So maybe vanilla & raspberry.
Taste - chocolate!! Every time, I live for chocolate!
So chocolate, with chocolate chunks, chocolate frosting with maybe more chocolate chunks sprinkled on the top!
So my favourite cupcake would be a vanilla, raspberry and chocolate cupcake, with chocolate chunks, chocolate frosting, glitter and flowers.
Yum!!
Oooh, so hard to choose! I have to go for the classic vanilla, with oodles of butter icing and pretty sprinkles on top. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI'd go for vanilla - it's my favourite flavour for most things, which is ironic, as I'm not a very vanilla person ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd also eat them happily all in one sitting - I'm stuck indoors all week this week, as I baby sit builders (we're having our bathroom redone!) during the day, and then work 6 - 10pm :( Boo!! I need cupcakey happiness!
Oooh, so hard to choose! I do love black bottoms (dark chocolate with cream cheese in the middle) and peanut butter ones, but I have to go for the classic vanilla, with oodles of butter icing and pretty sprinkles on top. Yum. I'm such a girl!
ReplyDeleteI've tried many cupcakes but lemon *always* gets my vote :-)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, decisions.
ReplyDeleteChocolate and banana cupcakes with peanut-butter butter-icing, decorated with crumbledReese's pieces is always a winner for me.
Mojito cupcakes always look intriguing, but I've yet to attempt them...
Red Velvet. I am feeling homesick for my grandmother's red velvet cake just thinking about it! But really, is there any bad flavor of cupcake? Properly done, they should all be spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever come across a cupcake I don't like (and I'm sure they the same about me), but if I *had* to choose just one - but why would anyone make me do that is beyond me - it would have to be double chocolate with vanilla frosting.....
ReplyDeleteOoo, mine is definitly Chilli and Chocolate. It reminds me of the homemade bread my boyf' made me when we first started going out together - white choc and chilli bread. At first I was little surprised by the combo, but after tasting it I was smitten on the bread and the boy! That's when I realised he was a keeper! ;o)
ReplyDeleteLemon sherbet (not that I have ever had a cupcake of this flavour but doesn't it sound nice!)
ReplyDeleteMmm I have to say coffee creme with choc. Sadly maligned, coffee frosting is one of the great gifts in this life.
ReplyDeleteDouble Chocolate has to be my fav
ReplyDeleteOooo i lurve de cupcakes!!
ReplyDeletelast week i made my old faithfuls 'Very Berry Cupcakes'. They're vanilla cupcakes with fresh raspberries and blueberries in them, topped with cream cheese frosting and vanilla-sugared blueberries!! i want one NOW!!
Coincidentally I have been thinking and talking about cupcakes for the last two weeks. Then I saw this. It's meant to be! And any flavour is a good cupcake through simple plain victoria sponge my nana used to make to fancy creations with hundreds and thousands and hidden sweets inside. Yum.
ReplyDeleteFinding out that it is National Cupcake week has really perked up my Monday morning! Especially as I have to go and see the dentist this lunchtime! Whilst he is scraping around in my mouth (yukky) I will distract myself by thinking of my most favourite cupcake; a pink vanilla flavoured sponge with lemon coloured, white chocolate flavoured butter cream icing, with mini white chocolate buttons on top! YUM YUM YUM!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, you got me so fancying a cupcake right now - they look delicious on your pic and sooooo tempting! i have to say that i'm not really fussy when it comes to flavours - a cupcake is a cupcake, and all are blummin gorgeous, but if i had to choose, then a hint of lemon would be my ideal! lovin this comp, even if it is a bit of a naughty one! LoL thankyou for bringing to my attention the fact that it is National Cupcake week, now i have the perfect excuse to indulge! Hoping i win now coz they look finger lickin good! :-) x
ReplyDeletewill also tweet once i've commented!
Mine is lavender or.. violet.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate frosting. Simple but sweet!
ReplyDeleteCupcakes :-) What a nice thing to think about on a wet miserable Monday.
ReplyDeleteVanilla with chocolate frosting.
Just about to tweet
My litle sis' is to be married next month and as her married name will be 'Mrs Lavender' - how lucky can a girl be? - she is to have a lavender cupcake tower - made by me! So, the cupcake of the moment has to be a lemon zesty sponge for a tangy kick, topped with fondant butterflies and hearts. I just hope my wedding outfit still fits after all of the 'extremely necessary' taste testing!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh! What a fantastic contest, I'm just about to add this to my Cupcake Monday post to let everyone know!
ReplyDeleteOne of the best cupcakes I ever had was chocolate with a very light mint icing in Toronto. And there's one I get at the Tynemouth market here that is lemon cake with lemon icing at is most delicious. It's probably my all-time favourite! ♥
Can I nominate lemon sponge with absinthe flavoured icing?
ReplyDeleteI can even give you my recipe!
;-)
Mine would be a light vanilla cupcake with a delicate rose and lemon cream topping, finished off with a pretty flower on top and a light dusting of glitter (it tastes a bit like turkish delight).
ReplyDeleteI am hungry for cupcakes now...
chocoalte with chocolate icing it has to be
ReplyDeletenot only do i love chocoltae but chocoltae loves me
BACON
ReplyDeleteMy Favourite would have to be an orange flavoured cake with white chocolate icing and it even had one of those sugary slices of orange on the top to remind me of Christmastime! :-D
ReplyDeletemmmm cupcakes, it has to be somethinig lemony for me, although tried a rose & lime cupcake which was also quite delicious
ReplyDeletered cocoa cake topped with a cream cheese frosting and dusted with sugar
ReplyDeletealways a winner for afternoon tea here on a Sunday with all the family
chocolate, with chocolate icing! yummy
ReplyDeleteI re-tweeted and here's the post:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theswellelife.com/swelle_life/2009/09/cupcake-monday-the-dreamy-edition.html
You have made me drool.
I love Vanilla first but also love Carrot, Walnut or Cheese, I've not got a massive sweet tooth and like to keep it simple. They are suppose to be light little mouthfuls of heaven rather then sensation overload. yummy!
ReplyDeleteCupcakes have FLAVOURS?! My favourite flavour is therefore CUPCAKE. I love all of them and a box of 'em would go down a treat in my office at any point this week!x
ReplyDeleteHehe, "BACON" :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the red velvet if I'm buying, but my favourite to make are my own recipe blueberry cocoa with nutella filling and chocolate buttercream icing. *slavver*
ReplyDeleteLemon, with lemon icing. Definitely.
ReplyDeleteI just had a delicious cupcake up in NewCastle last week at a Girl Geek Dinner event. It was a Vanilla cupcake with Chocolate Lime icing.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious!
I also love my cupcakes with sprinkles.... it brings out the inner child in me!
has to be vanilla with jam and cream on top
ReplyDeleteI've never met a cupcake I didn't like but the best ever was a peanut butter beauty.
ReplyDeleteOoh. I didn't realise there were so many flavours. Red Velvet does indeed sound exciting, much more so than my favourite which is the desperately untechnical pink sponge with big thick piped swirly pink frosting on top.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I don't recommend Vimto cupcakes. Very strange indeed!
Lemony goodness always wins!
ReplyDeleteJack Daniels would have to play a part somewhere in this cupcake dream, be it as the frosting or in the actual cake itself. Or even a cream cheese and walnut cupcake (low fat + vitamins) with a shot of JD to wash it down. *Kate is drooling*
ReplyDeleteChocolate with chocolate icing, boring but who cares, the classics are always delicious.
ReplyDeleteChocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream icing - yummy, yummy, srumptious!
ReplyDeleteIm going with Red Velvet too! I just LOVVVVE them. Im such a choccie fiend...If its a cupcake & its chocolate I will eat it. I love creamy vanilla buttercream on top...Uh-oh, Im making myself rather peckish!
ReplyDeleteI would have to say.... Lemon as a general rule but I just noticed that Cupcakes and Peonies also make mint choc chip cupcakes. I've never tried one of these but I definitely will try them now!
ReplyDeleteChocolate!! Always chocolate...
ReplyDeleteGod, it has to be BANANA! How can you not love banana in a cake - moist, sweet, fruity and reminds me of heady childhood afternoons mainlining banana Nesquik...
ReplyDeleteI do love an Oreo cookie cupcake - chocolatey and creamy! Perfect with a massive mug of tea
ReplyDeleteFirstly Happy Cupcake Week - if there ever was a week to celebrate it has to be this!
ReplyDeleteSecondly - OMG I never knew there were such cupcake delights. I just go for the plain old vanilla with icing - little did I know what amazing possibilities there are when deciding on flavour, colour, icing, decor of cupcakes. If I could have any cupcake right now... imagination allowed... it would be a Banoffee Cupcake with pure toffee icing and a banana decoration for the top. Lush. Not sure if these exist but I am willing to try to cook these seeing as it is national cupcake week.mmmmmmmmmm caaaake.
Thirdly - Hurrah for the sluts giving cupcakes away!!
I'm a sucker for a lemon cupcake, particularly with a big glump of buttercream on top. Though my flatmate and I are currently working on a Pimms cupcake, if we pull it off it might take first place!
ReplyDeleteWhilst red velvet is a delicious classic, can you really beat your traditional plain cupcake with lashings of amazing sugar-tastic icing? I think not.
ReplyDeleteBonus points if it has been styled to look like a comedy animal. I'm looking for bunny ears here, people.
At the mo, it has to be courgette with cream cheese frosting! Thanks for the heads up re Cup Cake Week, best excuse for a while to keep baking.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's so hard to choose just one - that's why variety selections were invented, so we wouldn't have to do this!! Ok, if I were only allowed one cupcake, I'd go for lemon - light, summery & refreshing - unless you add chocolate frosting, when it becomes rich & decadent, and altogether naughtier!
ReplyDeleteCall me boring but I think the best flavour is vanilla but only if done properly with lots of vanilla in it and lashings of (preferably pink) frosting!
ReplyDeleteEither carrot cake with a cream cheese icing, or lemon with lemon drizzle icing - yum :)
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite cupcake flavour would have to be...
ReplyDeleteChocolate brownie, with lashings of vanilla frosting and chocolate sprinkles...lovely and gooey and fudgey and moist. Delish! x
A light chocolate sponge filled with chunks of rich dark chocolate, topped with lashings of white chocolate frosting and topped with curls of milk, dark and white chocolate and maybe a cheeky little cherry!. A girl can never, ever, ever have too much chocolate!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, anything chocolately. Or vanilla. Or hazelnut. Basically anything, as long as it's not fruity :)
ReplyDeleteI would like an Earl Grey cupcake with bergamot-flavoured icing.
ReplyDeleteChocolate for me. The more chocolatey the better.
ReplyDeleteKentucky Julep cupcakes.. you steep the milk in fresh mint leaves.. then make a delicious buttercream icing with plenty of green food colouring.. and a couple of fresh raspberries on top. nom.
ReplyDeleteMine would have to be Lemon and Raspberry, but only after I've tried a million other flavours ;o)
ReplyDeleteI've not eaten enough cupcakes to know! In fact, I don't think I've ever eaten a cupcake. But orange is my favourite flavour of everything else, so I'm going with that. I hate chocolate, but Red Velvet sounds intriguing?
ReplyDeleteMmm, has to be classic chocolate! :)
ReplyDeleteVanilla sponge with chocolate icing. Best to keep things simple, and the icing has to be really light.
ReplyDeleteIs it ok that I know want to run out the office and buy 10 cupcakes???
Gosh what a taxing question, asking a girl to pick just one flavour of cupcake! Its lucky I have previously given this topic much thought!
ReplyDeleteI would pick a spohisticated mocha cupcake. Rich moist chocolate, espresso sponge (with a hint of Baileys) topped with a giant swirl of coffee buttercream icing. Now to make my cake truely sophisticated I should place a single coffe bean on top . . . but being a rather sophisticated and quirky lady I would instead place a small marzipan totoro on top (my favourite japanese anime character). Sophisticated, caffeinated and quirky . . . just like me! ;-p
Any and all...CAKE!!
ReplyDeleteDouble chocolate with marshmallow filling, but I love a red velvet, and I'm keen to try both rose and absinthe!
ReplyDeleteFave cupcake is White choc roses.
ReplyDeleteYou will need:
For the Cakes:
100g Self raising,
100g Caster sugar,
100g Baking margerine,
2 eggs,
100g White choc chips,
1 tsp Vanilla flavouring,
1/2 tsp Rosewater.
For the icing:
200g Icing sugar,
100g Softened butter,
A drop of Rosewater,
1/2 tsp of Vanilla flavouring,
A tiny bit of food colouring, (pink works best)
Things to decorate (I find a sugar flower or some edible glitter is best)
Sift the flour, baking powder, and sugar together into a bowl then rub in the margerine. Next, add the egg and the flavourings and attack with the electric whisk until it's all fluffy. Divide the mix between some cup cases. A heaped teaspoon or two each should do it. Bake at 160*C Gas mark 3 for 15-20 minutes while you lick the spoon throwing caution to food poisoning! Remove and cool then decorate. To make the icing, sift the icing sugar so it doesn't clump then mix all the ingrediants together (apart from your decorations, clearly!). Pop onto the cakes and add any bits you want.
I have my own site if anyone is interested www.theglamoroussnowdrop.co.uk. I know, shameless! But I love this site, it's the best!
Oooh - this is so hard! I'm a sucker for anything chocolate...chocolate cake, chocolate bars, hot chocolate etc etc BUT as I've got older I have become more and more partial to a simple vanilla cake, topped with vanilla frosting...omg - this is too much to take on a Monday morning!!! Ok - I'm going vanilla! There - I said it! Vanilla it is :-) Emm xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh what a lovely question. I love red velevet cupcakes for the colour, but I think my favourit must be either the delicious winter wamrer apple and ginger, or delicate girlie rose water cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteMmm, I'm hungry now!
twitter #cupcakebake day is on Saturday 19th Sept if anyone wants to post photos of their entries.
ReplyDeleteMy fave will always be chocolate with chocolate icing too, but for #cupcakebake day I am doing something very special with the decoration. nuff said. do join in.Just search the #cupcakebake hashtag for other tweeters involved.
Ooooh, Red velvet with vanilla frosting! I just got brought 2 of them for my birthday from lovely Katie too! Brilliant!
ReplyDeletevanilla cupcakes with cherry icing - perfect.
ReplyDeletewow. national cupcake week. how wonderful! :) my nan used to make gorgeous orange peel and grand marnier cupcakes with jellied diamonds on top. delicious amd definitely my favourite xx
ReplyDeleteOooohhh!! That's a toughy! Would have to go for lemon cupcakes with a thick lemon icing! Yum!
ReplyDeletePeanut M & M flavoured cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteHEAVEN ON EARTH. Along with all other thingd peanut m & m flavoured, particularly milkshake!!
x
While enjoying a nice cup of coffee, sat looking at the dreary weather outsite, my thoughts of cupcakes, mmmm, got be be melt in the mouth chocolate, rich, moist, chocolate, with hmm lets think, a deep thick layer of creamy chocolate on the top. Maybe a strawberry or 2, no forget the fruit just CHOCOLATE!!!
ReplyDeleteVanilla with (thick) vanilla icing. Simple but yummy.
ReplyDeleteI would like to make a plea for the mint-choc chip cupcake with choc-mint frosting and milk chocolate chips on top. The mint stops the chocolate being too rich and everything is better with chocolate chips on top. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI am longing to try Red Velvet, though...
Coffee! Or tiramasu. I'm a bit of a freak in that I hate chocolate cake, although I do have a boy who loves it...
ReplyDeleteI really like vanilla cupcakes. this may sound a tad boring but I think having a simple sponge is best when you have loads of flavoured icing on top of it.
ReplyDeletei can't choose! all cupcakes are good cupcakes! x
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be Snickers flavour - I once had one at Cocoa in Sheffield. Yummy chocolate with peanut butter in the top then topped with chocolate cream and toffee pieces . . . very naughty!
ReplyDeleteOoops commented from the wrong account earlier!
ReplyDeleteChocolate, Chocolate and Chocolate! Even better, chocolate peanut butter cupcakes with a ganache topping!
*daydreams for the rest of the day about cupcakes*
i like banana flavoured cup - cakes. the sort that you only get if you make them yourself. Did you know that by not mixing the batter up when you make a cake and leave some lumps in the cakes become more airy and delightful.
ReplyDeleteI feel horribly guilty if I ever betray my beloved chocolate but I am also fond of vanilla kind with buttercream frosting on. Maybe with chocolate sprinkles on top.
ReplyDeleteLemon are my favourites, although I had a very good vanilla one from Ella's on Friday.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not - Banana with a lovely cream-cheese frosting - YUM!
ReplyDeleteso hard to pick one! But i am an uber fan of anything coffee! so lets go for coffee and caramel ummmm
ReplyDeleteMargarita Cupcakes my friend Hannah makes- fresh and sharp cakes with limey, tecquila riddled thick icing. You may occasionally get tiddly if you overindulge thou- drunk on cake!!
ReplyDeleteSo hard to pick!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite one so far was a Pineapple flavoured cupcake covered in Strawberry and Smartie icing.
wonderful!
candied violet!
ReplyDeleteVanilla. Or Red Velvet. Just one?? TOO HARD!!
ReplyDeleteLemon drizzle for me
ReplyDeleteRED VELVET.
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me thinking! Simple is good - Vanilla cake with chocolate frosting is my favourite. Cupcakes FTW!
ReplyDeleteBanoffee please!!
ReplyDeleteI really don't mind. I prefer that someone else made it, and the cup of tea that goes with it as a surprise for me.
ReplyDeleteOh my, what I wouldn't do for a cupcake RIGHT NOW!
ReplyDeleteThis was like a perverse form of torture reading through all these comments without actually having a cupcake to hand. :-(
Right now the flavour I want most is a raspberry cake with dark chocolate chunks (or just chocolate in the middle) and either a dark chocolate or a cream cheese topping. Can I have one? Any kind of cupcake will do. Pleeeeeaaaase?
Off in search of cupcakes now. Work can wait. I'll be more productive with cake, I'm sure. Ooh, imagine how much work I might get done if I won a whole box!!
Vanilla cupcakes with coffee icing for me :)
ReplyDeleteI had some lovely carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting last week. Or maybe some chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. I miss butterfly cakes though. You never see butterfly cakes anymore.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh rum and raisin with rum flavoured frosting! Perfect for pregnancy cravings! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting
ReplyDeleteIn fact we has carrot cakes with cream cheese frosting wedding cake i love it so much
Vanilla with strawberry icing and sugar flowers on top. If I win, I will give them to my lovely husband who I kissed fot the first time 7 years ago today.
ReplyDeleteOooh I had an amazing chocolate and orange one recently! All cup cakes are pure heaven :-) x
ReplyDeleteGlitter, I don't really mind the flavour or colour... But any type of glittery cupcake makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteBest cupcakes are lemon sponge with lemon frosting, with a tiny lemon jelly sweetie on top because they remind me of Easter, spring and daffodils, and the first outing of a new dress that has been bought for summer. Lemon cupcakes are the perfect antidote to that feeling that winter will soon be closing in.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to go retro, also known as cupcakes like you make when you're little. So, that would be vanilla cake with pink icing and smarties for decoration! Yum...
ReplyDeleteAm I too late?
ReplyDeleteI like me some coffee and walnut goodness if I get to choose.
Limoncello - yum!
ReplyDeleteI am neither an old lady or a bumble bee but I love, love, love a vanilla cupcake with lavender frosting! Although, to be fair, I'm not fussy and would be eternally grateful for any cupcake that comes my way!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite has to be vanilla base with lemon frosting on top with one of those sugared lemon slices for decoration! Sweet and comforting all at the same time! Absolutely gorgeous - especially with actual lemon bits inside rather than just the flavouring!
ReplyDeleteCaramel cakes with coffee icing and a walnut of course!
ReplyDeletevanilla and raspberry - its like a pink dream :)
ReplyDeleteSurely there's no better choice than lemon, refreshing yet cakey
ReplyDeleteRed Velvet! Here's my attempt http://twitpic.com/gqtd4
ReplyDeleteChocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate... anything chocolately so long as it's indulgent (best eaten in the bath with a steamy hot cup of milky cocoa and some lit candles...bliss)
ReplyDeleteAren't cupcakes very 2007? I thought whoopie pies were the fashion these days (fairy cakes for the anti-Americans).
ReplyDeleteI vote for rich dark chocolate cupcake with chili jam filling and a chocolate and pink peppercorn icing. I made them for my office and they went down a storm.
These cakes look gorgeous! My fave flavour is vanilla oreos with oreo buttercream icing! You may as well pack the calories in! Lol!
ReplyDeleteNo more entries! Thanks everyone! We'll get back to you shortly with a winner!
ReplyDeleteChocolate!
ReplyDelete.
ReplyDeletelemon cupcake with frosting icing , simple but tasty
ReplyDeleteBANANA CAKE!!! Gets so overlooked as its more like a loaf, but it is amazing!! especially with a bananery buttercream topping ala pret! yumyum
ReplyDeleteWhat a tough decision ...Cookies and Cream.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited! National Cupcake Week I love anything with chocolate it's a girls best friend!
ReplyDeleteif you send me cupcakes i'll send you cheesecake :)
ReplyDelete
