More Brilliant Lighting from BHS

BHS and I haven't always got on - they're responsible for a few of my most traumatic childhood ensembles - but, boy, when it comes to their lighting, they are just really good. I know I have banged on about this before, but you/I really need to let go of any lingering BHS snobbery, as their current collection is even better than before.

I've been lusting after a piece of fairground-style lighting for ages. This arrow table lamp offers the look and, for £95, it at a fraction of the price of other designs. There's a star version too.

There's even more spectacular pieces available, such as the Malachy ball pendant, more believable as coming from a Bond pad of the 1960s, than from the local high street. This is £150, and there's a matching table lamp available, which looks as if it has been beamed in from another planet.

This Mabel light cluster is also a bit of a showstopper, some of the classiest use of concrete I think I've ever seen. BHS really go in for their light clusters (and, when they look this good, why shouldn't they?): also take a look at the Casey and the Nadine. They also really go in for giving their lights really random names.

There's something of a Scandi feel running through their latest collections, fab if you are hankering after some Hans G Wegner but don't have the wonger. This Danica pendant is all wood and smoked glass for only £49.

The Johanna floor lamp is nicely different: in fact you get three lamps for £91, rather than just the one. You just need to work out where to sit yourself for optimum book reading illumination.

But, even if you have no need for grand lightening statements, there are some great basics too which - being BHS - don't break the bank. This mini photography table lamp is only £18. It's almost enough for me to forgive them for my childhood clothing mistakes. Almost.
