Dream Dress: Orange Drop Back Miss Selfridge Dress

Had I not seen this dress in person, I'm not sure I'd be recommending it. But on a night out in Shoreditch in London, I spotted it one a very pretty girl and actually stopped her in the street to compliment her on it. She looked fabulous, and I honestly thought it was vintage.

The mid-length dress works because it's so casual. It's not an easy dress to wear (hello! bright orange, funny length), but the shape makes it work. The shape means that it's fitted, without looking over the top. And that makes it look really really sexy. But it's the kind of lazy sexy that I covet. Because I'm lazy.

I wasn't expecting to want this little number, but it looks so good on, I might have to pop to my nearest Miss Selfridge and try it on for myself. It's £38, but I think it needs a massive floppy hat to go with it.

  1. Ooh, I know exactly what you mean - I spotted it on a mannequin and thought it looked fab, but the ones hanging up looked distinctly rubbish! I have a feeling it'd make my legs look stumpy, but I'm also considering seeking it out and trying it on just in case...

  2. Always the best clothes are the ones you least expect to look good on. Totally satisfying. And I have such a colour crush on orange at the moment.

  3. Yep. I've never been tempted to try on a bright orange dress, but that girl looked wonderful in it. It's magic, clearly.

  4. Ooh I like orange! What kind of body to you think it works on, ladies? How's about a kind of boob-y pear? (Don't think I've ever described myself that way before. It's slightly lacking in dignity but fairly apt!)

  5. I would love to see a photo of someone wearing this. I am terrible at visualising clothes worn if I can't actually see someone in them. God knows how many clothes I've properly dismissed on that basis.

  7. I have this dress and can confirm that it is fabulous. I have had so many compliments when I've worn it and it's amazingly versatile.
