You can peel off your opaques, slather yourself in body moisturiser and pop on those sunnies but, if you're like me, you're still carting your huge black bag around town even though it's now officially 'summer'. In a futile attempt to make myself suit the season, or at least provide a distraction from my dazzlingly pale legs, I'm looking for a really bright bag.
Number one on my list of lust is this pretty yellow number from the Cambridge Satchel Company. It's the colour of a canary, it's practical enough for work and play and, at £93, it's pricey but not mad pricey. But: can a thirtysomething really carry off a school satchel? And can my ghostly pallor carry off yellow?
Next up, Lucie Gonnard's label French and English Confectioners has this lipstick red satchel in soft leather. The colour's heartbreakingly beautiful, and the shape's much softer than the first - a plus if, like me, you're always rootling around for your bike keys/lipbalm/purse. The only downside is that it's a bit smaller than the first satchel - more weekend wander about town than working sack.
And, finally, ASOS' cheapish (£55) and cheery green tooled satchel. This green is so gorgeous and fresh, and it'll work both with bright colours (my clothes) and non-bright colours (my face).
Hmm, decisions, decisions. Which one would you choose?

Love all of these! The red is my favourite though.
ReplyDeleteThe red is my favourite in tems of shape but as the happy owner of a yellow handbag I say do it. It doesn't go with anything so therefore it looks excellent with everything.
ReplyDeleteI desperately want a £20 version of the yellow.
ReplyDeleteThe red one is beautiful. My favourite ever bag was a baby blue, butter soft satchel from River Island in the 90's so I have a soft spot for coloured bags.
ReplyDeletePS: As a celtic blue skinned woman I can say St Tropez wash off body mousse is amazing for adding a bit of temporary streak free colour. Buy some of that and then get the yellow bag too. :)
