This is so ridiculously simple that I can't believe it took me until now to come up with it. I've used Quark as not only is it fat free, so you know all that cream and chocolate is practically cancelled out, but it has a slight sharpness that cuts through the richness and means you can eat a whole ramekin of it without feeling like you've been hit by a chocolate cream bomb. You can use cream cheese though if you want a richer version but for me this balance is just right. If you are not a fan of Toblerones then just substitute it for whatever chocolate bar you do like, I'm going to try this with Snickers bars next and then Mint Aeros then Caramels, basically I'm sorted for life for an instant-ish emergency dessert now I've got this recipe!
You'll need: (makes 4 ramekins)
- 200g Toblerone
- 200ml double cream
- 2 tablespoons icing sugar
- 1 capful vanilla extract
- 170g (or 2 big heaped spoonfuls) Quark
- Sift your icing sugar into your cream, add the vanilla extract and whip until firm then beat in your Quark.
- Break your Toblerones into triangles, put 4 triangles to one side to use as decoration then melt the rest in the microwave before beating into your cream mix.
- Pour into ramekins and top each one with a Toblerone triangle and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up (although they are actually even nicer if left overnight).
awesome. (and, not to cast nasturtiums on your bakeware mind, have you perchance recycled a ramekin from a well-known chocolate pud brand beginning with "g" and ending with "u"? I've certainly got a few of those kicking around!)
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing! I've got some as well!
DeleteI've got a cupboard full of them! They are my Reduced Section weakness, go to supermarket for healthy dinner, get distracted by yellow Reduced labels and return home laden with Gu and a bag of carrots
DeleteThis recipe is fantastic! The dessert is delicious.
ReplyDeleteI've just made the Snickers version too, I think you *may* just like that one too :)
