Awesome things to do this weekend

Apparently, there is life outside of the Olympics. There are loads of exciting things going on this weekend, if you can drag yourself off the sofa and away from all of the sport. (I promise to have you back home in time for the Olympic Closing Ceremony.)

Friday

Brighton: Brighton Scenic. Fancy flying around Brighton and Sussex for an hour while you have a glass of champagne? Can you take me as well, please? For around fifty quid, you can take a scenic flight, and take a bottle of bubbly with you. They'll supply the glasses and you get to choose the route you take.

London: Sacrilege. Call me childish, but I want to bounce around on a giant inflatable Stone Henge. Maybe I've been inspired by the trampolinists in the Olympics, they bounce really, really high. I want a go. Today the bouncy henge is in Alexandra Palace.

St Austell: The Importance of Being Ernest. A handbag! There's something more fun about watching a play outside, especially when the setting is as gorgeous as the one at Tregrehan Gardens in St Austell. Grab tickets for £10 at the gate (cash only).

Saturday:

Newcastle: Stone Carving. I didn't know I wanted to go try stone carving until I found out you could do classes. They're £75 for the entire day at The Mushroom Works.

Birmingham: Crazy Science. Soho House is having an afternoon of chemistry and fun experiments and I want to play along. It's free, too.

Cardiff: Architectural Storytelling. This creative workshop includes an architectural walk and discussion about how the city and changing environments inspire writers. You'll get lunch and get to do some writing yourself as well. This sounds like a perfect day out.

Sunday:

Leeds: Victorian Lingerie. I love the idea of making my own Victorian Lingerie. You'll need some sewing skills to make your bloomers and camisole, but frankly given that all silks are included and this class is just £45, that's a bargain.

Sheffield: Magic Worlds. Created by the V&A Museum of Childhood, Magic Worlds is an exhibition all about fairy tales, fantasy and imagination. It's totally free and sounds truly excellent. It's the perfect Sunday exhibition.

Bradford: Saltaire Handmade. Local crafters, makers and general Sunday improvers all gathered in one place for your to browse and play and make your hangover disappear.

I would like to be in twelve places at once this weekend. What are you doing?
