Living room essentials: sofa, so good

Being the resident Domestic Slut with a border-line-obsessive cushion fixation, it's only natural that I've also got a bit of a thing for sofas. I'm currently in the market for a new one, and what with my penchant for everything vintage, I'm after a sexy settee with a bit of character; I'm mostly thinking Chesterfield in terms of style and have found two sofas that are just the ticket:

First up is this decadent velvet one; it's from Sofa Workshop and I'd buy it for the name alone: Grande Dame. Oh yes. Down from £2,565 to £1,846 (a snip!), it has a somewhat chaise lounge feel about it.

Next, this bona fide, genuine vintage leather Chesterfield from Rose and Grey. *Sigh* Isn't it lovely? I can just picture it adorned with my best-of-British-style cushions. At £1,395, the lived-in feel is included in the price, so you can get straight on with some leisurely lounging. Or hoovering, or something.

  1. Love the purple one!

Anyone in the market for a Chesterfield and on a budget should try eBay. My ever-thrifty Mother bought a matching dove grey pair (in pretty good nick, I might add) for next to nothing. They are my second favourite thing about going home!

  2. If I had room and hadn't just bought a new sofa I'd be all over the Grande Dame, it looks lovely and my favourite colour!

  3. The purple one is divine. Just needs me lazing on it in expensive frocks with chocolates and wine...

  5. Ha! Thanks Siany. I must admit, I created the *whole* post around the title... ;)

  6. Ohhh I can't wait to be a proper grown up and have an unfurnished flat. The first big thing I'd buy would be a Chesterfield. They make my stomach do a little flip-flop of joy! For now I suppose I'll soldier on with the pre-furnished Ikea stuff!

  8. OMG I have had my eye on that purple sofa for months and now it is reduced, just have to persuade DH that £1800 is indeed a snip with 3 small boys in the house. How can I persuade him??

  9. See the thing with large purchases on Ebay is that you usually have to collect - and my Ford Puma simply ain't going to cut it. Nor can I be bothered with van hire and 'humping' (arf!) a bulky sofa to and fro...

The sofas above are delivered straight into your living room. And you can't put a price on that, in my book. Well... you CAN, but you know what I mean.

PS - Jules: You HAVE to convince DH somehow someway that this sofa is to-die-for!x
