Ask The Sluts: Where do I find awesome maternity wear?

We got asked on our Facebook page for some help tracking down maternity clothes that don't make you feel even more of a beached whale than you already do when you're busy growing a tiny person. Thankfully, maternity clothes have become a lot more fashionable since I had my first baby. These are my picks to make you look and feel amazing.

Asos do a great maternity range that includes a lot of their main styles plus some exclusive designs. This faux wrap top dress is perfect for showing off both bump and bosom (flaunt it while you have it!) and can be worn after for, ahem, easy access if you're breastfeeding. It's £35 and comes in blue and black too.

Even though you're going for comfort, don't think you have to forego skinny jeans. Topshop's Baxter jeans are still among the best around and they also happen to be among the best maternity ones too. I wore mine nearly every day when I had my second baby. They'd also look great with this top for an easy pretty look. It's £36.

What to wear though if you've got a summer of weddings or other glam social events coming up? If you can afford £189, splash out on this dress from Isabella Oliver. Yes, it is a lot of money but it can be worn sleeveless, capped shoulder or one shoulder or halterneck which makes it like 4 dresses in one.

Of course, if you have the time and patience, eBay is a great hunting ground for pieces like this if your budget doesn't stretch that far.

Don't forget as well to get some proper maternity bras. Be prepared to buy a few throughout your pregnancy and afterwards. I swear by Elle Macpherson maternity bras but Hot Milk do some sexy and pretty sets too. You can get them both at Figleaves.

  1. Thank you thank you thank you - there is a god. I've been searching the internet all week for half decent looking stuff to take me into the second half of my heifer-like second pregnancy. But it's so hard to tell what it'll actually look like, given that it's all being modelled by goddesses. Thanks for the asos tip.

    1. I wish Asos had been around when I had my eldest! They pretty much kitted me out second time around. I also forgot to mention that Gap and H&M do good basics which don't look ridiculous for those post birth weeks when you're getting back to some semblance of normal!

  2. An anonymous tip if I'm allowed to post it, although not being pregnant, I happened to stumble across this rather genius item the other day on an internet hunt for something entirely different. Useful for all the mummies-to-be?! http://www.apeainthepod.com/Shop_APeaInThePod/tummy_tube.asp
