Wallpaper Wednesday: Little Greene's 50s Herbes

From my hair to my frocks to my love of a tiki bar, I'm a bit of a fifties throw-back. My abode, though, is sadly lagging a little behind (or should that be ahead?) in the style stakes so I was rocked to clock Little Greene's new 50s line collection. They've gone into the archives at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester to produce a wallpaper range that's inspired by the designs of that decade. And, boy, aren't the results just lovely. This Herbes design, for example, would be perfect for adding a touch of fifties flavour to your wall.

The Little Greene designers have cleaned up the background to give it a slight sprucing for the twenty-first century but otherwise, in its colour scheme and lovely line drawings of herbs, it's fabulous. It's one of eight different designs in the collection: Herbes dates from 1955 but the selected wallpapers range from throughout the decade. Joyful florals, handsome Hampstead homesteads and gorgeous geometrics, there's plenty to delight all lovers of pattern. In fact, I'd like some of these on a dress please, if that could be arranged?

Alas, not 1950s pricing though. Herbes is £38 a roll while some of the others cost over £40. You can probably justify the outlay with the fact these designs are almost 60 years old and still going strong - I'd certainly like to be looking this good at that age.
