Design Porn: Spineless Publishing
My dream home comes complete with a generously stocked library, complete with comfy chairs to curl up in front of a roaring fire. Currently, however, space is a bit limited and I'm forced to make regular purges of my overflowing shelves. That's why I think these prints from Spineless Publishing are such a clever idea. They feature a silhouette of a key character or object in the book set against a reproduction of the entire text of the book. Yep, the whole thing, every single word of it - meaning that's one less book to have on your shelves.
Chances are though that one of the prints available is your age-old favourite book anyway - the one you'd save if your house was on fire - and you have to justify the purchase of one of these less on its space saving ability and more on its prettiness. Luckily these oblige, featuring some charming imagery. Love the headstrong heroine in children's classic What Katy Did, for example? You can get the print above for £65 or framed for £195.
The Alice in Wonderland print is also delightful. It's a shorter book so is also smaller and cheaper at £60.
I ardently adore the Pride and Prejudice print which features a silhouette of one of my favourite literary couples. We all know the lengthy twists and turns they face in the path for true love, so this poster has a smaller type size to squeeze in all the words. This one sells for £80 unframed.
There is something for every literary persuasion (and for those still thinking Austen, there's even Persuasion). Other titles available include Heart of Darkness, A Tale of Two Cities and Around the World in 80 Days. There's also a rather wonderful silhouette of Sherlock Holmes complete with deerstalker and pipe for The Hound of the Baskervilles.
The prints would be a great gift, either for a bookish friend or relative or for yourself. I know when I finally achieve my dream library these are going to look great upon its walls.

I really really love this. I wonder if they do Jane Eyre? Sigh. Major want, and I don't even feel guilty because it's literature!
ReplyDeleteOh my G! I think I'm actually in love with these. Time to sidle up to the hubby and drop hints ahead of my birthday.
ReplyDeleteJust need to decide which one to get first...
