Design Porn: Eric Therner Diamond Lights

Lightbulbs don't really get much in the way of swish design. Perhaps because we're so used to throwing them away after they've blown, we don't want to spend money on something that we see as disposable. But lightbulb filaments can last for years and years (the world's longest lasting lightbult - The Centennial Light - has been on for over 110 years, fact fans).

Eric Therner has created a diamond lightbulb that actually lasts around 2000 hours (that's about three months). Obviously that's not as long as The Centennial Light, but it does make this cool piece of design more worthwhile.

Look pretty good, don't they? I think it would be quite fun to have sparkly diamonds hanging above my desk. And I'm loving the packaging as well. Perhaps it would make a nice present for a couple getting married - diamonds don't just have to stay on fingers, despite what De Beers would have you believe.

Shiny, sparkly, and unique. And yours for just £41 from Lifestyle Bazaar. This is my kind of rock.

  1. Yikes! 41 Pound Sterling for a diamond shaped light bulb. That’s a little steep, regardless of how long they could last. I’d rather invest in a light cover or lampshade with a jewellery themed design. But these bulbs are quite unusual and unique. They would make a nice gift for those with a particular taste!
