Shop in the Spotlight: & Other Stories

Love H&M and Cos in theory? Dislike the flimsiness / shapelessness of their clothes in practice? Then their new luxury sister brand & Other Stories will be right up your street. The newly launched website is full of amazing prints, brilliant metallics and sharp tailoring. It's like Anthropologie and Zara had a sexy, affordable baby. Not that you should be buying babies. Or calling them sexy for that matter. Right, this analogy is falling apart, so let's have a look at what's on offer.

This t-shirt is business at the front, party at the back (albeit quite a twee party involving crepe silk ribbons). It's £19 and also comes in plum and black.

I didn't know how much I wanted a hot pink leather shoulder bag until this point. I love the chunky box style and the magnetic clasp and the overwhelming pinkness of it. I'd have trouble cramming everything in it but I'd flipping well try. It's £79 and comes in black if for some reason you want a sensible bag.

Pretty sure I knew I wanted a flared skirt in Quality Street purple though. Not sure about it? It's got hidden pockets. Yeah, it's your basket now, right? It's £55.

These pastel flats say "hello spring" while the patent leather and rubber mix says "I am ready for you, inevitable rain". They're £45 and also come in black.

The little details on this cotton and linen dress are what make it special. The pleated sides and gathered back will make your waist look awesome, and that flash of orange ribbon brightens the whole thing. And it has pockets. And it's a reasonable £45. Hooray all round!

Their jewellery's ace too. There are some angular, geometric pieces and some chunky bonkers stuff - and I mean that in the best possible way - but I've managed to show you a sensible rhinestone ring. It's only a fiver and also comes in copper and silver.

Their website looks like a Pinterest board, only it's interspersed with gifs so occasionally a cheery lady will wave a bright yellow bag at you to catch your attention. Honestly, you could lose a whole afternoon there.

    2. I know. I KNOW. Need to get to the shop on Regent Street to see what it's all like, I think.

    3. Let's have a Sluttery outing to the Regent Street store! (can you imagine the levels of over-excitement that we might achieve?)

  2. Have you tried Monki? I think Monki is also related to the H&M brand somehow, and this looks like a grown-up version (Monki's very youthful and cute, though I think that's more in the branding than necessarily all the pieces!). Monki is great quality too.

    1. Ah, I'd assumed it was aimed at young teens because of the branding. I'll take a look, thanks for the tip.

    2. Ah yes, Monki is a good one. I've got a nice suede top from there (it is nice, honest!) which looks very grown-up. I'm intrigued to see how this differs between them all - those clever Swedes and their plot to take over my wardrobe.

    3. Frances, you've written about Monki before!

    4. I know! I also own the bottom dress in that post, and love it to pieces. I basically love Monki. Monki + Cos + H&M make-up 75% of my wardrobe. Clearly with & Other Stories they're after the last 25% too!

  5. The Regent Street shop is a dream! I wandered in not knowing what it was, thinking this place looks cool, then, joy of joys it was affordable! Beautifully displayed items, I want all the handbags.

I too am obsessed with all things Swedish, kind of wish I was a Swede.
