Design Porn: tea lights by Original BTC

Mention tea lights and you immediately think of those never ending multi packs from Ikea. But it's not those I want to show you. Nor is it something like the (admittedly amazing) Madeline Boulesteix chandelier. These tea lights combine some of the wit of the chandelier with some of the clean lines you'd associate with Swedish style. But they're made in Britain and inspired by a very British tradition. Take a look at this and you'll see what I mean.

At first glance it looks like a standard lighting pendant but look a bit closer and, oh hang on, it's in the shape of a teacup. How very clever. Like your finest tea set, it's made from bone china. And, like with your finest tea, the china means the light is gently diffused. You can get it for £67.00 from Lighting Matters.

Naturally there's a matching teapot too. Both lights are made by a company called Original BTC who manufacture the lights in Stoke-on-Trent. I love their distinctive Art Deco-style shape which is apparently based on the Art Deco tableware once produced in their factory.

With their distinctive blend of style, heritage and craftsmanship, surely they're the perfect lights by which to see your Ceylon?
